We're going to DW for our disneymoon in 11 days. We live close to Disneyland and wanted to know if it's possible to put our used tickets from DW towards an AP for Disneyland? The price for 7 days of tickets for one person at DW costs about $30 less then the premium AP at DL. Any ideas?

You can't upgrade them to an AP (unless you were buying the Premiere which is good for DL AND WDW, then you might be able to). What you CAN do is exchange them each morning for a one-day park-hopper ticket. When you say "used tickets", are they non-expiring tickets that still have days remaining? If so, that's fine and will work, they will just deduct one day at a time from the ticket.

Ok....let me make sure I understand as this question kinda impacts me too.
My family is close to WDW, in fact, we were there 2 times from Feb 11 to Feb 12. We've got 2 Magic Your Way (base) tickets that we purchased last year as part of a free dining promo for September. They were never activated as we had AP's and knew we could use the tix at a later date as long as they weren't activated.
We are going to DL in October for the first time. (YAAAAAY!!!) Are you saying that we can exchange these tickets each morning for a DL ticket?

I'm not sure if they're non-expiring. We got them in the "magic your way" deal. 7-day park hoppers. We haven't used them yet, that was more of, if we use them in DW, would we be able to put them towards an AP at DL, or do we not use them and when we arrive at DW, ask to upgrade them all to a Premium AP?

DL will not upgrade WDW tickets, used or unused, to an AP unless they're upgraded to a Premiere AP. If they're used, they would have to be upgraded within 14 days of first use, no matter where you upgrade them or if they're non-expiring. You'd probably know if they're non-expiring option - it's a pretty hefty add-on.

But they can be upgraded AT WDW from new or used-less-than-14-days status.

The only way to exchange an unused day of a WDW ticket for a DLR ticket is if you purchased the "no expiration" option. If you did purchase that option then yes you can exchange it.

Just to summarize (because I got confused while reading this thread):

  • You can't upgrade them to a Disneyland AP
  • You could upgrade them to a Premiere AP (good at both WDW and DL), provided that you still had a day left on your ticket (or on the last day of your ticket), and that it was within 14 days of the ticket's first use. You'd probably want to do this while you are still at WDW.

Awesome. Thank you all for your help. And I was looking at the wrong prices on AP's. It would br $200 more +tax to upgrade from a 7 day hopper to premier. I guess we'll have to see what kind of gifts we get at the wedding ;)

I actually called DLR today, spoke to 2 different CM's at 2 different times, and both told me I absolutely COULD "exchange" my WDW base ticket for a base DL ticket. Further, they both told me that the WDW ticket did not have to have the non expiration option in order to do so and I could upgrade to park hopper.
The non expiration option would not be necessary anyway for a 2 day ticket that was never activated. Technically, since it has not been activated, it will not expire until I put it in a turnstile for the first time.

During our last WDW visit we upgraded our MYW tickets to a WDW AP. Then when visiting DLR we upgraded these to a Premier AP.

Non-Expiring WDW MYW tickets are good at DLR but cannot be used to upgrade to a DLR AP.

Note that if you never used a single day of your MYW tickets then they do not have to be non-expiring since the 14 days begins on 1st day of use.
