Which Disney World resorts would be best for family with 17 year old girl, 19 year old boy and two older parents?

Lots of older threads discuss the various resorts. Mostly depends on your budget, which park(s) you plan to do and personal preferences regarding theming.

Definitely no right answer for everyone. First I’d take into consideration your budget, and see which hotels fit in it. Then narrow it down from there- what area you would like to be in, transportation options, food options, decor, etc.
Once you are comfortable with a price range, there are tons of YouTube videos that show the rooms and grounds of the resorts, take a family vote, it can be fun picking!

Yes, I would say budget first, then what parks do you want to be closest to. Then theming.

Depends on the budget & sleeping configurations. I have 20 & 17 year olds who will not share a bed. So I need a room with 3 beds (DD20 sleeps fine in a small pull down) or I need 2 rooms. As a family we like deluxe resorts and Pop Century (2 rooms.)

We did one of the values once with a single king/queen(?) in one room and a joining room with 2 beds. Worked out well.

We've also gone DVC and used the pullout couch.

These threads discuss rooms with an extra bed.

Without knowing more information about the type of trip you want to take (number of days, BUDGET, what parks you'll visit), it's a bit limited on what we could suggest. That said, with your family you'd either want a room with separate sleeping surfaces for son & daughter or x2 separate studio rooms.

If you decide to go the single room route, look for a place that has a separate murphy bed or sleeper chair from the pull out couch. Something like Art of Animation family suite, or a 1 Bedroom Suite with a sleeper chair + sleeper couch (I know Animal Kingdom Lodge has this, not sure what all resorts do).

We like to save $ on the resort side of the equation... we don't spend a lot of time at the resort but do like to splurge on table service meals, genie+ etc. I would go for an All Star Music Family Suite (for your fam) and preferred room (for the older parents).
If you research ASMu, keep in mind that all rooms and suites were refurbished recently (finished around time of reopening after covid shutdowns). Make sure you aren't looking at old photos, etc.

ETA I was confident that we were traveling at a time when there wouldn't be large groups at the value resorts. That would have made me consider the more expensive suites at AoA or a moderate. For our trip, ASMu suite&preferred-room combo was perfect.

Here is my post from last month....

I need to figure out how to find older threads that discuss resorts.

I think any hotel will do.
Mine and my mothers favourite is beach club (nice pool and sand beach, restaurants (beaches & cream, cape may even if ive heard its tot as good as before) boardwalk and location). My wife and mother in law loves grand floridian (best rooms, fireworks every night, lovely grounds and fantastic lobby. They are probably right. Its the most expensive resort.). We love them both so much so thats our two home resorts as dvc members.

My oldest daughters (17y) favourite is animal kingdom lodge, Kidani, which was our first dvc deluxe hotel we tried for two weeks during chistmas and new year. She likes it for the bread service and sanaa in general, the kidani pool and community hall… and it has a freakin savannah 😀 we were in a savannah view studio close to the lobby. We saw zebras and giraffes from our balcony every day. Everyone in our family love this resort.
My 14 year old daughters favourite is boardwalk. Best community hall. I liked the pool, easy and beautiful walk to hollywood studios, my favourite gym and bar. We stayed there 1 week in a studio and 1 week in one bedroom. Big mistake. I recommend not to try 1 bedroom after trying hotel rooms. Its very hard to go back. Wife and I love 1 bedroom now (real kitchen, fridge, laundry, big soft king size bed and fantastic bathrooms) we try to add it to the end of our trip but start with studio to save some money/points.
(My youngest daughter, 6y now, favourite is bahama bay. Not a disney resort. Im sure she will get an favourite disney resort aswell 🤣 to make it harder for us to choose )

Thats the deluxe hotel we tried but its always fun to try new ones. Were going for two weeks in december (7 days polynesian, 2 days grand floridian new dvc room key pine and 6 days animal kingdom jambo 1 beedroom.)

I dont think you can choose wrongly. We loved every resort we stayed at. Its really hard to pick a favourite.

Look at the subject headings for the various threads on this Resorts board. There's a dedicated thread for every resort. The first post generally gives you an overview of the resort which is fairly current although might be a bit outdated, and the last few pages of posts contain recent questions and other information about that resort.

The other posts above this one have included important information for you to consider when choosing a resort. You probably now have additional questions as a result of those posts. You can ask those questions in this thread and/or in the threads for the resorts you're interested in. We want to help you choose the resort that's best for YOUR family!

My answer will be any but the Value. Too many littles for my tastes with a group of that demographic

All depends on what your family needs and likes. My husband and I like the wilderness lodge for the ambience. We liked the convenience of walking to MK from the contemporary but the kids & I didn't like the ambience of the resort. My husband liked the resort. We really enjoyed the Polynesian for access to monorail to MK and Epcot... Just have to walk over to ticket transportation center. The pool is nice too and able to watch fireworks from the beach. We like the beach club/yacht club to be able to walk to Epcot & Hollywood studios, can walk to the boardwalk for other dining options and our kids love the pool. The boardwalk dvc is nice but my kids would rather stay at yc/bc for the pool. We stayed at riverside to save money one year as part of a split stay and the kids really enjoy it. We stayed at the Caribbean resort for a quick overnight before our nephew's wedding and our kids didn't really like that one either bc they felt like the pool area was too crowded. We're trying grand floridian this year as part of a split stay. Staying yc for first part. We planned our park days based on which resort we are at.

We have two teens who can’t share a bed (one is a kicker). Our favorite places to stay are a 1BR at Bay Lake Towers or Kidani. Both of those have an additional full bathroom. That’s important for our family. Otherwise we stay in a 2BR. We do own DVC, so we usually stay at a DVC resort.

Comes down to budget for me. My teen and I are perfectly happy at POP Century. The room might be a little smallish for 2 adults and 2 teens, but I'd make it work so we can spend more time at Disney. I love visiting the deluxe resorts, and stayed at the Poly every year when I was a kid, but I have a hard time justifying the price tag.

POP has the skyliner.

Totally depends on budget, what parks you're visiting, time of year, what accommodations you may need, etc. We have two teen girls and as they get older, I try to get us more space, whether that's two connecting rooms or suites but that's important to us. And from there, we base our decision on cost, parks and overall what kind of trip will we have. Will we be at the resort more, at parks more or a combo.

Most, if not all, WDW resorts are great for all ages but I would look at the time of year you wish to travel and go from there. Usually my decision is mostly "made for me" based on our budget.

Whatever gets you the most sleeping surfaces and the most bathrooms at a price point you can swing.

I'd price two rooms at Pop.
