I know that NYE is one of the CRAZIEST time to be at Disney, nevertheless, I have chosen to plan my boyfriend and I's first trip together (my 8th trip) during NYE. I just wanted to hear from all of you (experiences or hear-say) what you think about DW on NYE. I have been for the Fourth of the July numerous times, and I heard that it is about the same. I am not looking to try and get everything in on this day, NYE will be the second day of our seven day trip! Just wanted to hear others imputs, must do's, good places to be, etc! Thanks!

We went this year on New Years Eve and it was nuts!!! We went early to Epcot and the lines were like nothing I've seen before. ( and I've been a lot)
We left within an hour and the park was already closed to any new guests.

We were there the same night with my family (18 of us). It was crazy. My DH said they could never pay him to go that time of year again. Harry Potter was 80 minute wait. We went in February it was 20 minutes. We will stick to our first 2 weeks in Dec. We only changed the date for our wedding that we had in January and that was to accomadate our families & their jobs.

Aw! Congrats on your wedding! :) I'm starting to be fully prepared for it to be crazy, but im hoping since New Years Day is on a Sunday, kids will go back to school Monday, so I'll have a few days were it has calmed down! :)

It did settle down after about Jan. 2. I know for us, when a holiday falls on a weekend we have that Monday off. I did hear that the States aren't like that or I could have misunderstood. I think that it being your 2nd day there you should be fine as im sure you would want to spend NYE there. Have lots of fun.

Harry Potter was 80 minute wait.

Isn't Harry Potter Universal?:confused3

Yes, yes it is. Sorry didn't mean to confuse you. We did both WDW & Universal & waiting for HP is the one that stands out to me. I didn't do to many rides at Disney since it was so crowded.

I went to MK for NYE in the early to mid 90's,back then there was no fastpass and I didn't go to the parks often like I do now so I wanted to get to ride many of the rides, obviously I wasn't going to get to ride most of the rides as I waited 3.5 hours for Splash Mountain which is something I would never do again.Today if I go for NYE it'll be strictly to be there with no expectations of riding anything.

We were there a couple of years ago and spent NYE in the MK and we had a ball,1st thing is plan for a very large crowd and take your time and have a lot of patience. Use fast pass as much as you can, take breaks and plan to spend the whole day in the park without leaving if you want to be there at midnight.
The only bad part we felt was leaving the park very large crowds and poor planning on Disney to move them took almost 2 hours to get back to SSR.

Call my crazy, but I am going to try to get to DHS after the fireworks at MK for their EMH until 3:00am! haha Hopefully at 3am there wont be too much of a wait to get back to the hotel! I am going to be ready to crash! :D

Ive done NYE at both Epcot and MGM(Hollywood Studios) and they were both amazing. The crowds at both were horrible but the fireworks at Epcot were the best Ive ever seen. MGM had stages set up in several different locations with a bunch of different bands playing.

Its safe to say the Disney knows how to celebrate NYE and you cant go wrong going there

We were in HS this NYE and had a great time. Went early grabbed fastpasses for later including TSM, Rnr and tot. Left after lunch for a nap for the kids. Got back to the park at 5:15 (epcot was still open to residents at that stage) used our fp's watched some shows and danced the night away. Disney buses had us back to the poly within 1/2 hr. Incredible night and would definetly do again. You should have no prob if we did so well with an 8&6 yr old
