Hi everyone!
Leaving in 2 days and it looks like there may be some showers over the course of our trip 22-30. What do you do with a 2 1/2 year old and a 5 year old- both girls.
Thanks!

You make the best of it. :upsidedow Prior to each trip I purchase ponchos at the dollar store (the cost of them in Disney is absurd) and bring them to the parks on the days where there's a good chance of a rain shower. If you're taking a stroller that doesn't have a rain cover, just buy an extra poncho for a DIY version. A lot of the queues are either indoor or covered so you're mostly only exposed to the rain when going from one location to another. We just carry on as usual unless it's a downright downpour. We got stuck in one back in 2011 and spent almost 3 hours in the Land Pavilion; I just wasn't going to take my (then) 2-year-old out in the sideways rain and gusting winds. We made the most of it though with countless trips on both Living With The Land and seeing the Circle of Life, ate lunch, etc. The upside of rain in the World is that a lot of people leave the parks and because of that wait times, for even the most popular attractions, plummet.

A rain cover for our stroller has saved us on our last two trips. We even braved a tropical storm last summer at MK and the kids stayed dry!

It's almost not avoidable to have 'some' rain over the course of 1 1/2 - 2 weeks in FL, but we have actually been there when it did not rain! ;)

We can take occasional showers in stride, but we are not good at dealing with full day 'set ins' that can happen sometimes. Yes, I know there are lots of families that keep on going regardless, but that's a very personal situation and we do not enjoy sloshing around in relentless rain.

A vacation in rain is 'not' better to us than being at homel LOL

You will do fine as it's not usually a matter of more than periods of rain this time of year. :goodvibes

There is always a chance of rain in Orlando! Chances are, you will just get a brief shower and you can just head to a shop, restaurant, or indoor ride while it passes.

On our last trip, late one afternoon while we were at EP, it started to rain. We'd left our ponchos in the hotel so quickly bought some and tried still doing World Showcase. We were drenched despite the ponchos and miserable, and since it didn't look like the rain was a passing shower, we headed to our resort instead. But that was a heavy, steady rain that is more unusual for the area.

Water shoes! We were there last June during Tropical Storm Andrea, and our Keens were great! I know you aren't looking at that much rain, but I hate wet feet. Other than that,I wear a ball cap to keep rain off my glasses.

I just want to stand up for the Disney rain ponchos. Yes they are expensive for plastic ponchos, but they are much better quality than the dollar store ones. My DH and I have been using our Disney ponchos for about 3 years. On our last trip, my son's poncho got a tear in it. The resort gift shop replaced it for free. Yes, they replaced a 2 year old poncho with a hole in it for free. IMHO - WDW ponchos are totally worth the cost!

As for rain - we just carry on. It is important, however, that your feet are not soaked. Not sure about the temperature for while you are there, but when it is warm we wear sport sandals (Keen or Teva type). If it is too cool for sandals and rainy, be sure each family member brings more than one pair of shoes. There is nothing worse than putting on soaked sneakers or shoes that did not dry out overnight!

Have a fun trip!

I only use the dolar store brand for wet rides. They are think and not very good in the chance of steady rain. Target and walmart carry some with a mesh bag to store in after.
If you have no stroller cover you can also use a clear shower curtin and use some big clibs to have it attach to the stroller. Then you cover your bags you may carry on the stoller too.

Instead of a poncho for a stroller cover, I'd recommend a tarp. The poncho hood tends to be inconveniently placed and causes drips onto the stroller, and the tarp can also double as a seating cover if you need to sit on a wet/dirty bench or sidewalk.

The worst thing in the world for me is to walk around in wet socks and shoes. Water proof shoes (or at least an extra pair of socks) are a must. Just make sure the kids have walked around in the water shoes for a few days before the trip, to make sure they fit properly and don't annoy them.

One more thought. We took a Frog Togg and used it to wipe off wet tables at outside cs places after the rain was over. Much easier than napkins.

We went to disney in June in 2012, and like clockwork everyday is poured at 3:00pm is was awful! We got soaked 2 days in a row so then we went out and bought ponchos...the thing about that rain was it lasted for maybe 20 minutes and then the sun came out...so we just ran inside the gift shops when it started to pour lol

We are usually there in warmer weather so just keep going. We actually have fun when it's raining. As long as it's not too cold, I would say just bring poncho's or wait out the storms if they are short. We brought a change of clothes with us since my nieces and daughter usually request to play in the rain. That way if the girls get wet, they can change into dry clothes when the rain stops.

If you are looking for alternative activities, Splittsville is a great place to kill some time.

Wet shoes, wet socks, wet clothes and wet ponchos stink! If it's calling for rain, when doesn't it.....I carry extra shirt at least, wear our crock or flip flops, and bought jackets that are nearly water proof. I got our gal ones from Cabellas for $44.
I think someone recommend something called FrogTogs for little ones. It was a lot better with a light lined mesh jacket over the hips then sticky wet dripping ponchos.

They had a hood with a peak too. There is a large golf umbrella for around ? $25 or $49. Tough to carry if they are kids in strollers. We also bought online stroller covers so the younger kids could see out.

I really do not like the dampness and wet clothes so I try to not be walking a park during thunderstorms, or long rain miserable weeks of rain. The brief storms, we hole up and eat or do something inside.

One year we went we had a total down pour day(at the time only had our DD's they were 5 and 2 and my niece was 4). We ended up staying at the resort instead of the park and had a spa day. We brought our girls princess robes, put curlers in their hair, painted nails, put on some make up, and of course sparkles for pixie dust.princess:

Go on with your park touring! Take that opportunity to see shows and do indoor attractions. You spend too much money to stay in a hotel room.
