We are looking at going to Disney World for seven days during the week of Oct 20. There will be 4 adults and 2 kids going. We want 2 rooms and are hoping to stay at the Grand Floridian so we can be on the monorail as we have a toddler and infant with us. Around what time should we be booking our flight and hotel. My in-laws keep wanting to see if there is a deal coming out but I am not sure if any deals occur on the deluxe hotels. What is your advice on booking and when.

Book hotel ASAP, Oct is very busy because of the the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot and MNSSHP at the MK.
Deluxe resorts do often have deals, but you can change your current reservation to the new "deal" if something better comes out. The best you can do right now is try for a CAA/AAA discount. Secure your rooms at a price you can live with and if you get a deal, great. If not, you know what your price is.
Your getting close to your 180 mark for ADR's so think about what restaurants you want to eat at in WDW, and more importantly in Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival. Take a look at ALLEARS.net for the menus.

Flights all depend on where in Canada you are flying from. If you are in the GTA alot of people will travel to Buffalo to get great deals on flights.

Keep asking questions, that's what we are here for.

I agree with the last poster, book now with a CAA rate to secure your room then you can always change it later. According to the Mousesavers.com website on their Historical Info page, last year the "room-only discount for general public" for the time you are going didn't come out until the end of September. Keep checking though, the discount can be substantial, at least 25-40% off the rack rate. :yay:

I'm headed down in late October myself.

I recieved a 20% off PIN from Disney for a vacation package. I've spent a great deal of time reading information here and I've come to the point of impasse I think.

So basically, will my 20% PIN on vacation packages be about as good as it gets? Or am I better served making a "room-only" and hoping for the best come August for general discounts?

Keep your current reservation and cancel later if something better comes out.
20% off hotel, tickets and food will be hard to beat but if your willing to buy an AP, the deals might come out a little better????

Our Grand Gathering group (we're at 16 family members so far!) will be there mid-October for 10 days.

We got a room/park tickets package, but the best discount we could get at the time was the CAA discount.

Here's hoping for a great deal to be released! :cool1:

Not sure where you're flying out of - we always fly out of Buffalo usually on Southwest - sign up on Southwest for their DING specials. We were able to get $39 there and $69 return last summer, and never pay more that $180 round-trip each. We wait to book the flights about 4-6 weeks before as they are cheaper when it's closer to the time. HAve fun planning!:goodvibes

We will be at Fort Wilderness pulling the wifes tent trailer down BLECH did I mention I HATE camping.

We will be there the same time, October 19-29th.

Us too, going Oct 19 - 26th Great price on flights with SW

Staying hopefully at all BWV, but right now waitlisted so we have 4 nights at BWV and 3 at SSR

Have a great time

Kim

My oldest DD, age 25 and I are going Oct 17-Nov2. 6 days WDW, 4 Universal and then a 1 week cruise. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We had received a 40% discount and were all excited and were mulling over which deluxe to stay at...we were originally booked at Pop....then, UNBELIEVABLE as this sounds...I forgot to phone back with my Mastercard number and the 40 % discount had expired!!!! Had to be booked and deposit paid by Mar31/08...I called back Apr2.....

I was devastated....but I have now booked points at Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas and Saratoga Springs and it ended up less money even with the 40% off:goodvibes

We are flying out of Detroit for $189.00.

Quite a few of us in October:)

Thanks everyone. I am heading out next week to the travel agents to see where we can get the best deal and get this trip booked. I would do it this week but we are a little swamped with a stag and doe we are putting on for a friend. Hopefully this time next week we are all booked and ready to go.

Thanks for all the great advice.:cheer2:

The resort is just beautiful. We went to eat there and it was just amazing.

Have you ever camped at FW before because I promise you, you'll actually ENJOY camping there! popcorn::

Looks like we'll have alot of Canadian company in October! We'll be there Oct. 13-31. :cool2:

I have found you get better pricing by direct booking yoruself. I would decide what you want to pay for airfare (from the US, the discount carriers are at about $85 for a deal) and keeping checking their websites. Once you see the price you want or lower lock-in, though the cheaper flights are usually non-refundable. However, I have been pricing out flight insurance and it seems cheaper than refundable fares so you might want to check that out.

Grand Floridian! I'm jealous!;)

We chose early October b/c the Disney website indicated this was a very slow time. Now I am thinking that was written before Epcot F&W and the MNNSHP! Oh well...I'm thinking there just isn't a "perfect" time to go.
Correction...EVERY time is the perfect time!
I hope you got what you wanted! :)

Anyone else a little annoyed with the price of the MNSSHP tickets??

Yes, I noticed that last night. I don't believe we paid that much last year. I thought they offered an advance discount or something.
