I am new to the boards and am just loving all the great info!

I am planning a trip to DW for the third week in May. However both DH and DD2 are asthmatic. I am wondering how they will react to the hot temp. and humidity during this time of year. Our only other option would be to go during the first week in April. I know that this time of year is quite crowded. How is the temp. in May? I have only been in Aug. as a child and I remember the heat being unbearable! I need help in making this decision since I need to book my everything already ! I am super excited...I just want my DD2 to have a great time and don't want her asthma to act up (she was just diagosed with it this past October so I don't have any experience with her condition in the heat). Any info would be great. TIA!

Hi Sandra, and welcome to the DIS!

The third week of May is, based on historical averages, pretty warm. Average daily high is in the upper 80s and the morning low is in the upper 60s.

The weather does start to "lock in" by the middle of May and you can be pretty sure the daytime high will be somewhere between 85 and 95. On a rare occasion (just once in the last three years) the high will only go up to about 80.

We were there last year during that time and it was hot and humid. We pretty much melted as soon as we walked out of our rooms in the mornings (We are from Colorado so we are not used to this).

Anyway, my DH and 2 yo DS are also asthmatic and they had no problems whatsoever. I actually think they did great during the trip. No breathing treatments or inhalers (I think DH may have used his once or twice but only because he was so out of shape from walking all over) at all. I really think the humid air was good for them.

I think we timed it perfectly last year. The crowds were bearable. It started getting really busy towards the end of our trip. The weather was also great.

Well, I guess it depends where you are from. We're from Texas and I thought the mornings were on the cool side for me. I couldn't wait for the sun to warm us up.

We were there Mid May 2005 and the weather was beautiful!! It was in the mid to upper 80's and one of my son's is asthmatic and did have any problems. We were prepared with our meds just incase but didn't have any issues.

We were there for our honeymoon almost 5 years ago - from May 13-20th. It was VERY hot and humid. I remember walking around EPCOT just ready to die and feeling very hot, sticky and unattractive on my honeymoon...lol. It really drains you to be that hot, or at least it does that to me. I'm not sure about the problems associated with your asthma. Just be prepared for hot, humid weather.
