I feel like I've posted this a zillion times before, but I didn't make my own post, so I can't point to the previous thread...

We booked a fishing trip for my DD's birthday 3 years ago--DD12 and DS10 at the time. We were staying at the Dolphin so we left from Yacht Club. We had done the ToT 10-miler and after party until 4 am, so we booked a 1:00 (or 1:30?) slot to make a non-park day. The guide knew where the fish were biting best that day (right by Atlantic Dance) and took us straight there. All of us caught really nice fish over and over. These were by far the biggest bass any of us had ever caught. After an hour and a half or so, we decided we were done, so we took a ride around the rest of the lake and over to DHS to see ToT from the water. There was a cooler full of sodas and waters and all kinds of chips and snacks. It was blast (although our guide did like to brag a lot about his experience LOL) and I know my family would enjoy it again.

Not to highjack your thread, but is there a best location to leave from? We are staying at the Grand. Not sure if I should send the hubs off from there or book the CR and have them fish on Bay Lake.

Have been many times. EPCOT before it opens (from BC) was cool, Bay Lake in front of MK (Bay Lake is our favorite) though.

Have heard that Carribean Beach Resort Lake is good, maybe just boat from OKW?

Most around 2 pounds, our group did get an 8 pound near WL though. Guide said they get about 3 a year that size.

We went from POR and fished at Disney Springs. Had a great time and my son
caught 3 which were 5 lbs and 2 larger, one close to 9 lbs. lots of smaller ones

I think this is currently correct due to the recent child/alligator tragedy ......

Walt Disney World announced that all resort beach areas are not available to guests. All watercraft is running. Guests can rent pontoon boats and Boston Whaler boats but the Sea Raycers are not available. If you have a fishing excursion before 9AM on Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake they have been cancelled. Guests are not allowed to fish using their own equipment on any resort waterway at this time. Movie Under the Stars at the resort will be shown indoors, instead of outside. Keep checking here for further updates.

Yeah I saw that a few days ago. Hoping they will have rectified the "before 9" part by the time we travel. Not sure what the point of that even is. But then, I have grown up with gators so hey don't much phase me.

We did it in February and it was great! There are pics in my TR and I think the cost was $275? But that's for up to 4 people, so way more cost effective for a group.

Glad to hear another positive review. Yeah, the website says up to 5 people. Planning to send DH, DS8 and DS6.

The Birnbaum Disney guidebook always has a coupon in the back for 20% off the bass fishing excursion. It's worth the price of the book to get that much off.

You used to get a coupon in a Disney package. I don't know if is included anymore but would get it from Birnbaum anyway

Does anybody know if these coupons have a date on them? We're planning to go in January 2017 and I was going to surprise my husband with a fishing excursion. I looked on Amazon and the 2017 guide is only available for preorder and won't ship until September. I was afraid if I ordered the 2016 guide the coupon may expire at the end of 2016. (And I know I could go to a bookstore and check but I'd rather just order the book!)

Thanks!

The coupon will be good until the end of the calendar year that the book is published for - i.e., December 31, 2016 for the 2016 guide. So for a fishing trip in January 2017, you would have to have the 2017 guide. You should have plenty of time to buy it in a bookstore before your trip.

Perfect. That's what I needed to know. Thanks so much!
