Disney World at Thanksgiving

we will do MK on black friday...but are considering EPCOT on thanksgiving day instead of our original plan to do MK.

Cool. We've never gone to EPCOT on Thanksgiving Day so I don't have any advice to offer as far as crowds. I'm sure someone in the group will be able to advise. It's such a beautiful time to visit WDW, I can't help but think you will have a magical time no matter how you decide to tour.

I think it will be a good day because candlelight processional starts on Black Friday. Lots will wait to go to Epcot on that day. I know Epcot is NOT recommended on Black Friday for that reason. Have fun OP! I love Epcot.

Yes - we did MK on Black Friday last year and, I mean don't get me wrong it's a busy time of the year to go no matter how you slice it and dice it, but it was WAY better than going on Thanksgiving Day by far. Early in the morning until about 11 am is the least crowded in my opinion. It's like 10am hits and all of a sudden it seems to get a lot more crowded a lot more quickly. But even still it wasn't that bad and overall, in regard to crowds, we were very happy with our choice to go on Black Friday instead of on Thanksgiving and plan on doing that again this Nov.

We have been several times during Thanksgiving week because my son's birthday falls during that time. The first half of the week is just fine, but by Wednesday it does get more crowded. Those days we'd do something else in the morning and head over to the parks in the late afternoon when everyone else leaves for naps and breaks. Don't let anyone scare you off... it's a wonderful time to go. Monday and Tuesday that week we were able to ride several of my son's favorite rides a few times in a row with minimal wait times. And besides, the Christmas decorations are just fabulous. We plan on going that same week in 2016.

Good to hear, I was getting nervous reading all of this. We are actually arriving on Thursday before, and staying till Saturday after. We are going to hit the parks more at the beginning of the trip, and using those last few days as partial park days because we know it will be really busy.

At AK, be sure to go to the Flights of Wonder bird show. Your little animal-lover will really enjoy it! Get there about 15 minutes early, and you can often catch a cast member out front with a Eurasian Eagle Owl. Very cool!

And take some time to go to Conservation Station/Rafiki's Planet Watch. There's a nice petting farm (you can even brush the goats!) - and don't miss the little stage right by the petting farm. They do small "close encounter" stage shows with animals throughout the day. The zookeepers come out on stage with different animals and talk about them. I've seen several types of birds including owls, a hedgehog, and a porcupine, plus other animals I can't remember right now!

thanks! when we have gone in the past (before i had my daughter.i'm talking 16, 17…WAY before kid time hahah) we went to the conservation station, but we never got to see the little close encounter stage shows…I'm sure my little will LOVE it! she loves all things animals, and has even touched a huge lizard before, while i was standing just close enough to get a picture of it! hahaha I'm not so into touching animals, but she has a heart for them…even at the young age of 2! and we have never been to the flights of wonder bird show…even in the past…she loves birds, so i will definitely have to check that out!
