ORLANDO, Fla. -- Walt Disney World seems to have worked its magic on a Massachusetts couple who accidentally threw away three platinum and diamond wedding rings.

While tidying up their villa as they prepared to leave the park late last week, Paul Campanale dumped a cardboard bowl, not knowing the container inside it held his wife Karen's engagement, wedding and five-year-anniversary rings.

Park employees warned the couple from Worcester, Mass., that recovering the jewelry was all but impossible. So on Friday, the Campanales and their two young children loaded onto a Magical Express bus and headed to the airport.

Back at the Wilderness Lodge resort, executive housekeeper Drew Weaver realized that trash from the Campanales' villa hadn't reached the industrial-size compactor yet. He and seven other volunteers donned protective clothing, emptied a parking lot bin and waded through bag after bag of rubbish to find the rings. And they did.

Paul Campanale, 37, a chemist, received the good news on his cell phone and Weaver met the family at the bus' next stop to deliver the rings. Karen Campanale, 35, a teacher, said she was shocked by the find.

"That's not the first time we've gone through trash - oh, no," Weaver later said. "We don't always find things. Many times we come up empty. But we didn't this time."

It's people like those CMs that go above and beyond to help people out that makes me want to return to Disney over and over again. We definately need to give all Disney CMs credit for the impecable service that they bring each and every guest day in and day out. I hope those ring finding CMs got a raise for their good deed :goodvibes

Kind of a side story to this, about 7 or 8 years ago when my daughter was working at Typhoon a guest lost a "glass eye" in the river float. As she was also one of the certified divers for Shark Reef, after the park closed for the day they turned off the pumps for the river and she and one of the other divers had to go into the suction sumps in the river and look for it.

They finally found it after about an hour but the also found watches, change, rings and other stuff that people had lost and never reported. She said it seemed a bit creepy to be looking at a glass eye "staring" at you, but just part of the job.

Moral of the story, hang onto your valuables and Disney CM's will go to great length to find important stuff if you do lose it.

I'd like to speak to someone about a pair of lost sunglasses and a hat still inside Journey into Imagination.. :)

Thanks for posting OP! Makes me even more excited about our spur of the moment May trip! Disney CMs are the best of the best! Even our 6 year old notices it. After visiting a small amusement park in SW Michigan, he says, "Boy. Those ride workers sure aren't Disney workers, are they mom?" He's a kid after my own heart!

Years ago (maybe 10) I lost my sunglasses on Big Thunder Mountain and they were back at lost and found within 2 hours. Surprised me but my daughter was still working at WDW then and she said they look around the areas about once an hour, at least then.

I lost a pair of sunglasses on Expedition Everest about a year and a half ago. I filled out some sort of form for lost items expecting never to hear anything more about it, but sure enough a few days after I arrived home I received a pair of Ralph Lauren tortoise shell sunglasses in the mail. Unfortunately they weren't my Ralph Lauren tortoise shell sunglasses. They were a slightly different style, were much more scratched up than mine, and had been worn by someone with a much larger head because they fell right off my face. But hey, at least they tried. :lmao:

Michigan's Adventure? Nope, that's no Disney! We get season passes there every summer, though! They work at Cedar Point, so they're definatly worth the money!

Anyways, that's really awesome! I love Disney CMs! :lovestruc
