Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

Did u hear the one about the couple that got marooned on the glacier at the dog sled camp near Juneau overnight and left behind by the ship? That was us. More to the story later, but long story short we're already in Vancouver awaiting the arrival of the ship... With our luggage...

Oh no! Well at least you made it to your destination.

To all you awesome people... Welcome Home!!! I hope everyone had an awesome trip. I still have a few hours before I pick up my parents but I hope everyone had an amazing cruise and I can't wait to hear about it

It was great to meet everyone! We are now back home. Unfortunately, Tim had some trouble with his blood pressure on the ship, so we were kind of stuck in the cabin, but we wanted everyone to know we loved EVERYTHING in the fish extender, and really appreciated everyone's hard work on their FE gifts, and we were so glad to meet everyone!

Omg! What happened that day? We were very late departing and so many helicopters looked like they were doing late runs to bring people back???

Actually they were doing late runs to come stare at the wall of clouds between Juneau and the dog camp... I guess a large group from Taku Lodge benefited because their floatplanes couldn't get them out, but our helicopters could. They would come check the route to us, call nojoy, go pick up a bunch of them and head back. We didn't get back to Juneau until 3pm the next day on our 4th attempt. After spending the night in a musher's tent on the ice in the rain. We did get two dog sled rides out of the deal instead of one, and then the next day while Juneau was still under the weather they got us as far as Taku Lodge and fed us the salmon feast that normally comes with that excursion and we saw some bears. As far as I know they got everyone back to the ship other than my wife and I and one crewmember. They said it people got marooned on the glacier only one other time in 13 years...

We were well taken care of for the hotel night in Juneau, commercial flights to Vancouver via Seattle, and another hotel night in Vancouver, but obviously the last half of the cruise got blown away, and we were "traveling" for four days in a row continuously tired rather than relaxed. :sad2:

While neither the dog mushers, helicopter tour company, or cruise line can take any blame for the weather, and in fact all three took extremely good care of us, it was just an unfortunate set of circumstances. Paid for a seven night cruise and ended up with four... :guilty:

Oh no! I'm so sorry, Matt! Sounds very cold, exhausting, and stressful.

Was this excursion booked through Disney? Did you buy trip insurance? If so, I hope one or the other (or both) will compensate you for the missed days.... If not cash, at least give you credit towards a future cruise in the amount of the lost days

Oh my goodness, what a nightmare! I am so sorry!

It was so great to meet all of you! You should know that you all made my son's day every time he came back to presents in our FE! :) we really appreciate everything, and all of the thought and work that went into the FE gifts!

Sound like you had quite an andventure. I think I would have much rather done that than deal with our flooded stateroom!

I'm so sorry to hear you were stuck!

Wow... that is quite an adventure, being stuck on the glacier! I did not hear of this until my flight home. The couple in the row in front of us had heard the story (somewhat accurate) and told us about it. We had no idea! We were wondering how t he heck they got you back to Vancouver and got you united with your belongings in your cabin. Your version is much more harrowing! Glad you made it OK.

We just want to thank everyone for a fabulous FE group! The gifts were amazing! I wish I could go down the list and thank each of you individually because everything was so great! (but some of you were modest and did not leave your names attached to your lovely gifts, in fact MOST of you now that I think about it!) It was so much fun to return to the room time after time and have this bulging FE waiting for us. It was also great fun to sneak around the ship and deliver our own gifts. (if you got one from us with someone else's name on it... sorry... LOL) Greg, Macy and I enjoyed every last one of the gifts and I swear, it feels like we brought home an entire suitcase full of goodies!
Thank you to everyone!

The week was amazing and I enjoyed meeting so many of you. I also feel like the week was too short as there were some of you that I somehow missed the entire trip. Thank goodness for email because some of us just did not have the time on the ship to finish a sentence, let alone an entire conversation. :rotfl:

We have our next cruise booked in 2013.... Anyone else want to join us? I would cruise with this group anytime. Thanks for making it great!

I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful FE exchange. My daughter was so happy to see stuff in our "Duct Tape" ;) FE almost everyday. I'm very sorry that I missed the meet, as we lost track of time trying to unpack our luggages. Hopefully, we'll meet again in a future cruise.

I think I would have much rather done that than deal with our flooded stateroom!

We had some water coming through the ceiling in our stateroom one morning. We were told another stateroom had flooded and that we were getting some spill over from that. They took the panels off the ceiling in our room and dried it up with towels and that fixed our problem.

Hope they moved you to a nice upgraded stateroom!

Wow! What an adventure! When we were waiting for the ship to pull out, I heard someone from their balcony yell down to someone who just flew back and asked them how many were left? I was curious why they asked that and their reply was "about 20". I guess this is why... We left the port really late - I think about 90 minutes late? Too bad they couldn't get you to Ketchikan on-time to re-board. At least you got a great story out of it! Sleeping in the tent on a glacier must had been a little cool :) You mentioned 4 attempts to bring you back - was the weather too severe so you were forced to go back?

Hey all, glad to see that most everyone had a great time.

For those that are DVC members and was wondering, we won the lanyard of pins also. I don't know how many actually turned in the referral cards that I handed them, but they told us that we won by 2 cards. They were really happy since at least 2 of the people we referred actually bought into it. We even bought more points ourselves.

For those interested, I gave out the hot coco add-ins and the room ears. I loved all the magnets and stuff that we ended up with, it was great!! I even caught a few people taking pictures of our door since there was so much great stuff on it.

I had so much fun trading pins with Diz and Dumbo. I ended up trading about 350-400 pins, so I am really happy about that. I actually traded with the staff so much that they asked me to stand up with the staff the last day for pin trading with the officers. I also met a bunch of new people and I'm so excited to keep in touch with them later.

I'll be at Disneyland the first week in Oct if anyone wants to meet up there again!! I'm going to try to get there on Friday the 5th and leave on Monday the 8th.

If anyone wants to keep in touch I'm happy to meet up and catch up. Just Facebook me or email me. My email is MrHappy@Cheerful.com!!:goodvibes

Mr. Happy... The coco add ins were such a great idea!!! We also loved the room ears, so much fun! Our door was crazy good by the time we added all the gift magnets from our fellow FE friends. Many people were stopping to take photos. It was great.

We ended up adding more DVC points as well. We are now the proud owners of 220 Hawaii points to add to our AKV collection. Very happy about that one! We had a great time with so many DVC folks on the ship.

I saw you standing with the officers during that pin trading! You looked so happy!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone in the FE exchange!!! It made our cruise even more WONDERful!!! We also missed the meet up due to loosing time in unpacking.

We took advantage of the onboard discount and booked a 12 Day Mediterranean in sailing June 27, 2013. At least that helped with the "I can't believe it's over" feeling of walking off the Disney Wonder. Alaska was so beautiful and I think we may be cruise addicts now!!!
