So, is this why you haven't been around lately? Run while you can! :lmao:

Seriously though, when does hurricane season start?

So now I'm headed to live with them in Florida :)

If I were your mother, I'd be crying right now

.Ok. Dawn, you lost me a little bit in your Renn termenology (tricorne, crocs) I just kept reading and nodding my head like I knew what you meant. I do understand what you mean about the level of dress depending on the "class". Would POTC and The Musketeers run in the same time frame? Hmm... now I can't decide what to do. I'll just have to keep my eyes open for deals and such to see what I can come up with.

Oh darn, I'll have to let my hair grow longer so that I can put it in ringlets or some thing. MY DH will be soooo sad about that...NOT! You should see how short my hair is now. There's no bounce to it at all, that's how layered and short it is.

Have a great day all! I hope its sunny and warm where you are. If it is, let me know so I can come visit! I'm :cold:

I'm still trying to figure out the crocs part.-are they flip flops??? :scratchin

As Vicki and TaeJa know, I booked this cruise in May '05. I have had periods in the last 10 months where I was super excited and then times where I have completely forgotten about it.

I am so looking forward to being in the terminal for our meet and getting started on this long awaited trip!

I sort of know how you feel, only I just booked this cruise last week. But I may be giving up this year's family trip to the beach and trip to WDW to be able to afford the cruise. The kids have been wanting to do something different and go on a cruise. I just hope the 4 day cruise will be great enough for them to not to miss the other trips. (Okay, for me not to miss the other trips.  ) I get so excited one day just reading about the cruise, and the next day I think about all I could be doing at WDW or the week I could spend at the beach for the same amount of money. You all are doing a great job of making me excited though! And I can't wait to meet everyone before we leave. :thumbsup2

Thanks for all of the repsonses on what to wear, and thanks NJBill for getting us ready for the weather - that's a really big concern of mine also. :sunny:

NJBill correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe hurricane season officially begins in June and goes through November. :scared1: It's just the worst of it usually appears around September when the waters in the Carribean are at their warmest temperatures.

A normal hurricane season, which runs May 15 through Nov. 30, has 11 named storms, five or six reaching hurricane strength. Some Meteorologists expect this year's number to be at least "several storms above" normal, while
Colorado State University atmospheric science professors released a report predicting an "active" storm season but fewer landfalling major hurricanes in the United States than in 2004 and 2005.

I will do my best to keep you informed..trust me..you will learn more about weather when I am done with you all than you ever wanted to know...

Thanks NJBill! It's nice to have someone who's really into it, watching what's going on. I moved from NJ to FL in 1989 and it's only been the last few years that I have really paid attention to the hurricanes. We were extremely lucky for many years, we barely experienced wind and rain. The last couple of years though, were a wake up call. Even then, luckily, all we lost was electricity. We almost had to abort Halloween last year, but compared to what happened to the people who got hit, we were more than thankful! :worship:

thank you for keeping up with this. I am sure we will drive you crazy with questions as it gets closer.

As for the other- don't fret. Not all of us PMS :rolleyes2

Tricorne!!!!

TaeJa--It sounds like ive got longer hair :ssst: than you! :teeth: My hair is down past my shoulder by like an inch or two. To fit right in with my costume, im planning on getting my hair braided or something. I was thinking something like Sparrow's hair in POTC the movie.

Black Unicorn--I can't seem to find a plain, not to detailed pirate coat. I've heard many names for it. Most usually the frock coat. I've seem it before, i just dont know where. It is a coat that goes down to the knees, has buttons down the middle, but they just use something to act as a makeshift belt, and it is embroidered on the cufs and next to the buttons. On top of that every thing i find of somewhat quality, is over 400 dollars :scared1: And that is just for a pair of boots. If you or any one else has any information on this please let me know, Thanks!

P.S. It is AWsome down here in fort myers(3hrs away from WDW) it has been like high 70s to low 90s for the past month. I CAN NOT wait for the warmth to stay, i am ADDICTED to the beach and right now i am having withdrawal from it. Now that the weather has warmed up all of the spring breakers (no offense to any one) are packing our beach. once it is summer i will be so glad, going to the beach every day! Skimboarding and Surfing cant wait, i need to go NOW! :) Some one said to me today that a cold front is coming through. Oh well the beaches are packed until summer any ways. Have fun!

O.k., I looked at the deadmantellnotales. and the buycostumes.com. I saw a Captn Feather Sward type coat on one of the sites. Red w/ big red sections down the front of it where the buttons would be. It was a teen costume or coat I'm not sure of the cost though. I was thinking maybe I could fit into a teen costume, but who am I kidding! :crowded: Here's that pirate thread link again http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1062839
. I haven't gotten through all the threads yet and I haven't searched through Yahoo and Google. Keep us posted as to what you find.
Just a thought, you might be able to make your own boot covers even with the flaps at the calf.

O.k., I saw this and thought it would be fun to wear, but I wouldn't want to overshadow the mouse.

Logan and every one else, here's some sites I found for coats (and costumes of course). I'll be adding more sites as I find them. I'm trying to find sites that the cosutmes are modest. So, Logan, if you think you need website supervision ask your parents to surf with you.

http://www.clicket.com/costume/halloweencostumes/econpirate.html

TaeJa, thanks for the link to that site. I'll show Logan when he gets home from work. Luckily, he has a part time job, he'll need to buy some of this stuff himself. He has exquisite taste. :rotfl: I hope he can find something that he wants, he was talking about me making something for him. YIKES! I don't really sew so that's a terrifying thought! :scared1:

Tae Ja-- :rotfl: OMG, that is so funny! I'm sorry, I assumed you knew what crocs were because they're the current fad. They're those ugly foam shoes with the holes in the top that everyone's wearing right now. You can see them in any mall or sporting goods store. Payless even has a line of look-alikes. Also, my hair's not going to be longer than shoulder-length, and I refuse to grow it any longer! :teeth:

Captain Logan--honestly, I do a good portion of my costume shopping at Goodwill. For a good, authentic, long-lasting frock coat, you're probably going to have to have one made. However, if you're just looking for a costume piece that doesn't have to stand up to being worn often, you can likely find something that looks similar and convert it. Admittedly, it's a lot harder to find the right shirts for guys, but for my daughter and myself I've picked up shirts and skirts at Goodwill and Walmart. Accessorize right, and you'll look just fine. I've even used vests I found at Goodwill for bodices, and I'll bet it's a lot less expensive to buy scarves there than in the store. We bought a nifty looking belt for my DD at ARC. For my tricorne, we went to a couple of costume shops and looked at the hats they had there--mine cost me $16.

My recommendation is to look around, get an idea in your head of want you want, and then head to a thrift store to find something that looks close. It's amazingly simple to add trim and buttons, maybe a bit of extra cloth in a contrasting color, and make it into what you want. Don't be afraid to look at the women's section--at your age, you can fit a lot of that stuff, and women's clothing tends to be more like the look you want. Keep in mind that you can be as fantastical as you want--no one's going to be measuring you for historical accuracy.

Here are some of the sites I've looked at for ideas:

http://www.agelessfashions.com/html/em-garb/empirate.htm
http://carlislesonline.com/pirateform.html
http://www.kristismart.com/index.php/cPath/25
http://www.verymerryseamstress.com/pirates.htm

Hope that helps!

....

You have to remember, I'm in the middle of the country where we don't get trends for about 3-6mos. Thanks to the internet and satalite t.v. we're getting better. O.k., I have seen those type of shoes for gardening or nurses wear them, but didn't know they went main stream.

Thanks for the other tips and websites. I look forward to compiling my costume. My DH is going to think I'm crazy.

Bill-I was thinking you are awfully brave to be on a cruise thread dominated by ladies. Maybe if we can get more dh's/bf/and son's to post it would help balance things out.

My dh says I just do all the posting for him and that he doesn't need to be on here. :rotfl:

Logan, the site I posted is the most reasonably priced site I've seen so far. When time gets closer, I'll start looking at Ebay.

I hope every one has a snow free day! :sunny: It's snowing here. :sad2:

I do not mind......I am a School Board Member (lot's of mom's), and my wife has successfully managed to erase any primal male instincts that I was born with over the last 10 years of our marriage..I just nod alot and say yes to almost everything..it's easier :)

I cook, clean, do laundry, vacuum, watch kids...... I grew up with (3) older sister's...so I have a good understanding of women (if that is even possible):)...

Just be gentle...:)

My husband does those things too! Not to worry the problem has been diagnosed. I have hypothyroid and I am being put on Synthroid! :teeth:
