Blackunicorn, or any other costume officianatos, is there a difference between the Renn. and POTC era costumes? I did some costume surfing on Ebay and the www and am wondering how different/similar these two period costumes are. Logan, do you know?
Here's the most current pirate costume thread from the cruise forum.

You know, I would love to wear that red dress costume from the POTC ride. She's the one being auctioned off while the others are crying. That would be a fun dress and hat to wear.
Where is every one? Are you all taking a vacation from posting?
LOL Don't ask me questions like this, I'm bound to talk until you want to cry. I'll try to keep my comments brief. Renaissance Festival costumes, when they're historically accurate, are about 200 years earlier than authentic costumes from the Golden Age of Piracy. However, the fashions for the lower classes (i.e. peasants) didn't tend to change as much as the fashions for the upper classes. So, you could probably get away with the same outfit for a Renaissance Festival (which usually depict the English renaissance) and a pirate festival (I think there are such things in Florida) if you're playing one of the lower classes. If you were playing someone rich, however, there's no way you could use the same costume for both. I love the red dress, too.

However, if I don't get my husband's frock coat started soon, there will be no time to make my own costume pieces, and you all will get to see some of my Ren Fest costume pieces--which is sad, because I don't have a bodice that I'm fond of right now. I did, however, get my tricorne the other weekend, and not a bad price. My husband got a leather tricorne for his birthday last year--it was the only thing he wanted, poor thing.
Logan--right now, my son is going to be wearing pieces from his Ren Fest costume closet. We have a (cheezy) pirate coat that I've offered to him, but he'd rather do his own thing. I had to forbid him to bring a scary skull mask, because he wanted to be a scary undead pirate. (I will *not* be the parent of the boy who makes all the younger kids cry.) If I get time, I'll make him something as a compromise, but I've got to admit, it's not looking good.
I have, so far, a couple of what I consider nice outfits, a skirt and a pair of velvet gaucho pants. Other than that, I'm going to pack normal clothes because we'll be at WDW after the cruise for another week. As for shoes, I intend to bring one pair of sneakers and one pair of
crocs for each family member. The crocs can be used as sandals, they're *excellent* on the beach, and I like ugly shoes. I *might* bring a nice pair of shoes, because my sneakers are so hideously plain, but I haven't got a clue what they would be right now.
