Thanks! Im so excited for this trip. This will be my first cruise.

Welcome Think!

You will have a great time...but a word of caution...We too took Disney as our first cruise..... and on every cruise after that, on other cruse lines, they did not meet the Disney standard, and we found ourselves comparing each cruise to the Disney Wonder trip.....now we decided to "come back" to Disney... We had some great cruise on other lines...but none were quite the same as Disney.....

lol. No place is as wonderful as Disney. ;)

I know this question has been posed on other threads but I was curious to hear what you guys would do. I just realized that the dinner that I have booked at Cinderella's Royal Table on my DDs 6th birthday (in May) won't be a true "character" experience. Cinderella sits downstairs and you get a photo package with her upon arrival (included in the price of the meal). You receive a lithograph of the castle, also included in the price of your meal. At the dinner, Fairy Godmother and two mice come out to celebrate special occasions ("raise your hand if it's your birthday, etc....") but there is no interaction at your table. There are no princesses at dinner (only breakfast and lunch, which of course are already booked solid). Top this off with the fact that the reviews of the food at CRT have seriously declined since February when they implemented a new menu and prices. DH thinks we should cancel CRT (which they require you to pay for in full at the tmie of booking, but we are in the cancellation window) and book a breakfast at Akershus in Norway where 7 leading ladies (princesses and others) are guaranteed for autographs and photos. We have already dined there, it was very nice. We have never been to any meal in the castle. I am very disappointed after reading the food reviews, it's a tough call. I'd love to hear opinions. :confused3
Thanks

We've been having this debate at our house. :) Akershus has high ratings in the Passporter, and the food sounds good. (A LOT of the food at Epcot sounds wonderful.) I like that Akershus is less crowded, and that the princesses are available all day. The food is described as "authentic Nordic fare" so I'm not sure if you'd be interested in that. It's also fairly reasonable for a character meal, price-wise.

My take is: If it's important to your DD to see princesses, go to Akershus. But if it's Cinderella she's hankering to see, go to CRT, because Cinderella doesn't do Akershus. Even if she only gets to see Cinderella at the entrance, it's still more than not at all. :hippie:

Sorry, that was dumb of me--I see that Cinderella also does dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian, just FYI. :thumbsup2

My wife and Daughter are book for a breakfast in the Castle. Our view is that Cinderella is there if only for a short time, but the ambiance and experience of eatiing in "the Castle" is what my daughter is getting.... While the food may not be great, I think it is the "overall" experience she will enjoy....

We have done the dinner at 1900 Park Fare with Cinderella and friends. I think part of the allure for me personally, is eating IN the castle. Plus, my mom is joining us and she has already gone to 1900 Park Fare with us. It would be nice to go somewhere new with her. We've done the breakfast at Akershus (without my mom), and it's your typical Disney breakfast (nothing ethnic.) That's definitely an option. I guess my first choice would be to do breakfast in the castle, where at least there are other princesses who come around to the tables. Unfortunately, I didn't plan this trip that far in advance and breakfast (and lunch) were already booked. I jumped at the chance to have dinner there, not realizing that it's not the same routine as the other two meals. I may keep trying for breakfast in the castle, and in the mean time book the Akershus breakfast.
