oooh I want to be in detention too:cool1: :lmao:

Well, that's where all the cool kids always are right? :rotfl:

I think its justified:goodvibes People get their nickers all in a twist over what people where to dinner and are all snippy and rude and noone cares but your little picture from the cruise lands you in the slammer:confused3 Geesh!!!!

I guess to be fair they might all be getting warnings too......I'm still irritated though. I did what I was told to do and it apparently wasn't EVERYTHING that I needed to do.....but no one told me.....so..... :confused3

I replied to the private message to see if there was any way to remove the points, seeing how I didn't know I had to change the quality of the images as well. Maybe I'm just unobservant, but I don't remember ever being told about that anywhere.

I guess it's a good thing I don't know how to post pictures!!!;)

OK.....she replied that I just need to resize the pictures.

:confused3

I ALREADY DID THAT.

The thing is, I wasn't asking how to get my pics within the limits, I was asking what to do about having points on my account and if they are permanent. Anyhow......back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Lionel said I should send her another message, but I think I'm done with the fight. Let them give me my points, whatever. I have bigger things to worry about than a 20 point fine!

I don't think she payed attention to your message either :rolleyes1

I am reading the rules now to make sure I'm not violating anything else, and it looks like my livejournal link is also a violation as there is no link from it back to DIS. So I'm going to remove that too. Just in case.

According to the rules, I have the points for only 15 days, and as long as I don't get above 40 I have no repurcussions. 40 points gets you loss of PMs and a signature. At 60 you get temporarily banned. At 100 you are TOAST!

OMG :scared1:

Are you all done painting?

No, sadly.....we finished the office, and I am ready to start on part of the next project which is HUGE! The entry, partial kitchen (it's currently two-toned and we are keeping one of the tones), dining area, living room and hallway are all going to be repainted. I'm going to start the trim next weekend, I think, and maybe tackle the hallway. But the main area is not going to be fun......we have vaulted ceilings :scared1:

Wow! I guess 15 days isn't so bad but 40 points loses privledges and you got 20 just for some pixels, it seems like the rude people on the dis would be banned in mere days:rotfl: :rolleyes1

You'd think, huh! :confused3
Anyhow, I should officially be violation free.

I think after 15 days I am going to post a HUGE FILE just for kicks. :rolleyes1

Our living room has them too and it has to be done with scaffolding and outside ladders:scared1: You're doing it yourself?? wow. Last year we did the foyer which also has the cathedral ceilings but the lliving room is on our list of to dos too. Ugh!!!!

Luckily we do have extensions for the paint rollers, but we still have to get up there and edge at the ceiling line. We have one of those cool edge rollers, so we're thinking of trying to hook it up somehow to the extender. I bet you know firsthand why we are putting it off! :rotfl:

The folks who lived here before us had some strange ideas about home repairs and fixes.....like, they used unwashable flat paint everywhere. And they were sloppy with the edging. And they used too much putty when they patched the drywall in some areas. And the nails that they chose to use when they did something to the drywall in the master bath actually rusted through the paint! Don't even get me started about the hole in the guest bathroom tub that we found, also badly patched.....Lordy, Lordy.

The good news is, most of our family is also pretty handy so we are slowly fixing all the the mistakes.

Alrighty, I think the dog and I are off to bed. Have a great (rest of the) night!

It said my images were too big (in bytes) - but I swear, the first warning I got said nothing about bytes, only pixels.....but now I can't find the original warning, only the post it was taken from. How annoying! I'm in DIS detention! :headache:

Oh I got a warning for that! That's sad that you got fined and you didn't even know there was a limit to bytes.:guilty: Maybe she thought she warned you for both?:confused3 Sorry Erica!

OMG! We take a late night run to Wal Mart and come back to bans, points, picture warnings! GASP! :scared1:

So now I am baffled, how many bytes are too many? Is my pic okay? YOU KNOW I am paranoid on a good day! LOL:rotfl:

SHEEEZ!

Is your DISboard Signature Legal?

In order to keep the DISboards both friendly and efficient, there are guidelines users are to follow when developing their signatures. Many users are unaware of the guidelines and unknowingly create signatures that in many cases exceed the guidelines.

NOW is the time to check your signature and make certain you're legal.

While we send out notices to those users who have signatures that do not meet guidelines, this is time consuming for the moderators and Tech Support volunteers on these boards. In some cases when a user does not correct a signature, it is necessary for us to delete their signature entirely. This can be unfortunate if someone has put a lot of effort into creating their signature.

The MAIN violations we commonly find are listed below:

1. No more than three images are allowed. All of the following each count as an image: (1) A photo, (2) A Clipart, (3) A Countdown, (4) A 'sparkly' signature, (5) Any non DISboard smilie, (6) Eggs. Note also that WISH images each count toward the maximum of three images allowed.

Thus if you have a sparkly signature line, 2 photos, 3 countdowns, 2 eggs, and 1 WISH, your total image count is 9, or triple the allowed number.

Remember, if you add any type of Holiday decorations to your signature, it all counts toward 3-image maximum.
------------------------------------------------------------
2. No single image may exceed 550 pixels in width nor 200 pixels in height. The old standard was that all images combined must fit within a single 400x400 square. This was changed earlier this year to the current requirement. If you have a signature developed to the old requirements, you need to fix it to meet the current requirements.

The most common item we find are users with an image that is greater than the allowed 200 pixel maximum height requirement. Be sure you check ALL your images in your signature to be sure none of them exceeds 200 pixels tall.
------------------------------------------------------------
3. The TOTAL filespace of all your images combined must not exceed 50KB. (That's 51,200 bytes).

One item we commonly find are uses of animated gifs which can have very large filesizes. If you have an animated gif such as a sparkly signature, or other 'moving' image, be sure you add up all the filesizes for all images. If you have highly detailed photos, it's also easy to exceed the 50KB combined filespace limit.
------------------------------------------------------------
4. The TOTAL number of lines in your signature may not exceed 12. All of the following count as a line: (1) a line of text, (2) a blank line, (3) an image of any kind on it's own line (such as photo, countdown, smilie, egg, etc), (4) any type of spacer such as a dashed line.

The most common item we find here are users with a long vertical list of their WDW trips. Instead of putting all these on separate lines, one on top of the other, it's suggested you put them on one horizontal line going across the page. Many users do this and differentiate the trips by using different colors, etc.
------------------------------------------------------------

Note: The above items are not all inclusive. There are other signature requirements. You can see the full Signataure Guidelines with samples by clicking HERE . This also gives you an explanation on why the guidelines are important.

If you don't know if your photo, countdown, etc meets guidelines, you can look at your signature in one of your posts, and right-click directly on the image, and from the drop-down menu, select PROPERTIES. The image's properties will show. There you can get both it's filesize and it's dimensions ( Width x Height). If the height dimension is greater than 200 your image does not meet guidelines.

If you add up the filesizes of all your images, and the total exceeds 51,200 bytes, then you do not meet guidelines.

You can see a typical Properties screen in the example below.

Alright, Heidi! Debt, debt.. it's the way to be!!!

I'm preparing to put myself there. As of today, I no longer have a permanent residence at my parent's house (YAY!) I'm moving into 'town' this week...

Sooo I'll be putting myself into debt with the thoughts of an inaugural cruise BUT it's totally worth it!
