Wow, what was it like working in the jail? what'd you do?

when I went to school I majored in Sociology and my concentrations were family and deviant behavior (two separate topics). Anywho I was always interested in criminal justice but was worried that I wasn't in good enough shape, too short and too fat to hold my own, pass the physical exams etc.
But it sure interested me....

I'm :lmao: about "My mom certainly points it out whenver I do it, even though I'm 100 years old now!" Isn't it funny how our moms can make us feel like we're ten again? Sometimes its bad, but at other times it IS nice having your mommy around to make ya feel like a kid again.
I was a "police records clerk". It was a civilian position. It was very interesting, to say the least. The records room was located in the middle of the jail, near the kitchen. The trustees were always outside the door. I'd hear "YOO HOO, OFFICER LISA" and they'd ask me if I wanted them to make me a grilled cheese for lunch. (I wasn't really an officer but we had to wear uniforms - very stylish - so the inmates assumed we were officers.) It was scary when they'd comment on my new car or something they should have had no knowledge of.

Speaking of jobs I put in a long time ago to take the test to be a postal carrier. Actually to be a substitute. The paper work came in the mail yesterday and I was so nervous that the testing was going to be while we were gone but it is September 10. :woohoo:

I'm not ready either! When I think about how close it really is, I get a little overwhelmed.

I think I'm kind of in a little bit of denial. I know I have a lot to do and not much time to do it but I just can't seem to make myself take that first step.

Part of my problem is that most of the clothes I had planned on wearing just don't fit anymore and I'm discouraged and unsure what I'm going to do.... maybe that fairy godmother will come tonight and poof tomorrow morning I'll be all ready to go.... :wizard:

I'm nearing that stage too. Like today, I had no idea what date it was until I read our church bulletin. Sad part is, I write the church bulletin. Mentally, the vacation packing/planning/cleaning has not sunk in until today.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: you crack me up

It's my mom's main goal in life to do this to me, I'm convinced. :teeth: :lmao:

(Shhh, please don't tell her I said that, I'll never hear the end of it! :rotfl: )

Thanks! The sample test they sent looks like a fourth grade test so I am not to worried. I just hope it takes a while to go through the process if I do well because I just started coaching DD's soccer team. I would hate to have to find another coach in the middle of the season. We are talking the government though so there should be no worries. :rotfl: Ha Ha I said that and then I had to fix misspelled words.

good luck with your classes! I hope they go well. When do you start your new job?

I forgot to ask you what you're going to be doing at the bank. Are you a teller?

Oh well, maybe Alex will open an account there and you can see him every pay day....... ;)

Good lord.
I just said the boy drove me crazy but still I'm getting hints.. haha
I would get an incentive pay if he did, though... :rotfl:

Yes, I'll be a teller. I have to wait on the recruiter to call me back and wait for my "package" to arrive via Fed Ex in the next couple of days.
I told them about the Cruise whenever I interviewed and I imagine they'll wait to start me after. Just makes sense to me. The assistant manager (who will actually be my boss) is going to be at Myrtle Beach the same week so it all worked out! :Pinkbounc

Alex made a huuuuge mark down my arm with the grease pens we use to mark the wrappers with today.. and I can't get it off! :furious: Any ideas anyone?

I have no idea on that. Did they say how much it was to have shutters put it on a CD for you.

I remember reading about this a while back, and am trying to remember the exact price, I want to say it was 14 dollars for one cD and they just put as many pictures on a disc that they can and then just keep filling up cd's to get all your pictures off of your card.

I think it was 14 a disc but I will try to see if I can find for sure

For some reason the negative comments that stuck in my head is that you don't get to preview the pictures or anything they basically just make a copy of every single picture so you can really get a lot of discs off of one card and the cost could add up depending on the # of pics.

The biggest negative to me though, was that you have to drop your card off at Shutters and then they give you an idea of when you can come back and pick it up with the disc. So you basically have to have a back up card anyway so that you can be taking pictures while Shutters has your other card and they are making the copies.

I'll try to find that link, but for some reason the search thing is being wierd for me.

Oh don't worry about it. I just knew there was something about Shutters. We have a laptop so I am sure I will just do it that way. Plus I will have 5 days of pics at WDW beforehand also.

It's $15 a disc but some people say they keep your memory card over night, others say you wait while they transfer it. If I bring 2gb of memory with me, I am not sure how many pics each disc even holds. I am going to look into this other thing. I could transfer my pics every night and start fresh every day. Many people have had catastrophes where their camera was dropped or broken and they've lost all their pictures. If they had uploaded their pictures every night, they would have at least had the pictures from before the accident.

good grief, already asked and answered... I really need to remember to read all the posts before I post a reply. :surfweb:

Hmm.. just looked and we don't have any. My brother is a germaphobe and stuff like that quickly disappears.

I have mouthwash and astringent that I've tried and it didn't work. He pressed pretty hard, it's a hefty streak.

Nail Polish Remover and if not hairspray works.
