i missed it. What was the story, who got arrested?

I remember this story-- My dad went to high school and was in Theater class with Patsy Ramsey... He always got really upset whenever it came on TV or he saw a magazine accusing her of the murder.

An American man, a former teacher , was arrested in Thailand and apparantly confessed. That's all I know at this point :confused3

Bizarre. The case is 10 years old!

I hate conflict too, I totally understand. What I will stress most about will be when we're back and my kids sick days start adding up. The elementary & middle schools won't be the problem, it's Logan's school that will worry me. They allow 9 absences per semester. When my kids get sick, it ends up dragging on and on and one day off turns into three. Then with the cruise time off, we'll be getting into that danger zone. From now on I will really have to make sure that I plan these trips around the school calendar. I'll have two in high school next year. I'd kick myself if the kids lost credits because I planned a trip and then they got sick on top of it. Always so much to worry about.
They aren't excused absences? Of course I have no idea how it's done in your state, county, etc. But how it works in mine for the HS is you are allowed 3 unexcused absences, after that you lose credit. 3 unexcused tardies add up to 1 unexcused absence. And then you get as many excused absences as you want because well, they're excused. :p When my parents took me out a week early for the Christmas cruise my senior year, they wrote a note that I took to the vice principal, who approved that week as excused absences, but then I had to take it around to all my teachers to sign saying they approved it as excused, and they would leave comments as to making up work and such.

I hope that made sense...

I guess they have been on to this guy for a while because Jon Ramsy issued a statement today saying his wife knew that they were close to arresting this guy before her death in June.

Did anyone see that they made an arrest in the Jon Benet Ramsey case? Such a sad sad story!!!
Oh oh! My sister told us today in the car that they arrested a potential suspect from Thailand! I still say it was an inside job...inside meaning a family member. That's so sad. :sad2:

In my district it is unexecused no ifs and or buts. Unless you lie and say you are sick or someone died and I wouldn't do that. Bad Karma and all just ask Earl. :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Harsh.

About the Jon Benet- my sister said they arrested him because he wrote things in e-mails that was more than the public knew. Aka...how would he know that stuff if he wasn't involved?

Maybe I only read about it on MSNBC and CNN I haven't watched tv yet.

Dad said he couldn't imagine Patsy being capable of it or lying to cover it up for anyone. Of course, the murder was 20 years out of high school so I guess people can change.

By writing the letter, the absences will be excused. In high school, we are allowed 9 excused absences a semester or you don't receive credit for the class. My kids did the same thing with the note, all the teachers had to sign it so they're aware. They'll give them makeup assignments.

Yes, I read the same thing.

Hey, I'm checking back in again . . .

Thanks for the Ramsey update - I haven't seen a TV in weeks.

Hope everyone's children are doing better - we only have 2 1/2 weeks !!!!

And now that everyone's gone to bed . . .
I have a question:

Are you taking any good jewelry - like your diamond engagement ring? Or are you just wearing a wedding band?

That's kinda harsh. I had a friend who had arthritis and she was so sick some days that she just couldn't come to school. I'm pretty sure it was more than 9 days that she had to stay home... Hmm...and that also makes me think what if you had a lot of doctor's appointments? :confused3 I guess you would just try to schedule them in different classes each time.
I didn't realize our school system was so lax. :rotfl:

I usually take a small selection of jewelry. Of course no diamond rings :p ...but I'm pretty sure my mom always takes hers when we go on the cruises.

The high school day runs from 7 a.m to 2 p.m. They encourage you to schedule your appointments around that schedule. Sometimes that works, other times, not so much. I am certain that if you have a chronic illness they make exceptions. (In fact, this is an Arts school so there are kids who sign out during the day for various plays and such.) These rules are more for the average Joe so that they don't slack and skip classes here or there for whatever reason. So far, they've been pretty decent about working with us.

Yeah I'm sure it all works out for everyone...but I was just surprised to see that you only get 9 when I'm so used to unlimited. :p Because not only was I off for a week during Christmas time...I was off for a week and a half in May for our summer vacation! :rotfl:

Maybe it doesn't help that Florida schools have the lowest scores in the country. :confused3 :lmao: I am guessing that they want the kids to have as much instruction time as humanly possible to bring that up. I just hope we're never at that 9 day mark where someone isn't getting credits. :scared1:
