Disney Wonder Sept 3-7, 2006 Part 3

So, a whole week of school under their belts. I wish we started before the cruise, I'm starting to second guess myself on missing the first 3 days I'm just chicken to tell the teachers after we get the letters this week

I gave all three schools the letters. Most of the boys' teachers commented that they couldn't go! (Unless we took THEM with us! ) I am very relieved that they were all so understanding. I sure read a lot of horror stories about other school districts. One teacher told Logan he could only go if he made sure he had fun!

Now all I have to do is make sure that everyone actually GETS the assignments that they are supposed to be making up. (Of course, then I have to makes sure they're completed! )

That's awesome Lisa, that is how it should be. My dh has been with Anheuser BUsch 20 years and has 8 weeks vacation, but can NEVER get a week off when the kids are off. It's terrible, this is the only way for us to have a family vacation. I just hate conflict so I avoid it usually

I'm going to need reminders before I leave:

For instance, when/if the shuttle lifted off yet
reminders about the meets and where
When/ where we're going to meet to do the goodie bags
etc., etc, etc.

If I don't get a reminder or print them out, all will be lost b/c my brain is here on the computer.....

I hate conflict too, I totally understand. What I will stress most about will be when we're back and my kids sick days start adding up. The elementary & middle schools won't be the problem, it's Logan's school that will worry me. They allow 9 absences per semester. When my kids get sick, it ends up dragging on and on and one day off turns into three. Then with the cruise time off, we'll be getting into that danger zone. From now on I will really have to make sure that I plan these trips around the school calendar. I'll have two in high school next year. I'd kick myself if the kids lost credits because I planned a trip and then they got sick on top of it. Always so much to worry about.

I guss mine was, too... but attendance never really mattered because I had the perpetual doctor's excuse... I'm kinda curious now.

I was looking at those too. I bought a really cute backpack from Pottery Barn kids but it's actually on the small side. All the papers are getting crushed. Not a smooth start to the year for me. Hopefully it will get better.
