My dh's grandma was diagnosed with thyroid cancer about 3 weeks ago. She is 89 years old and up until diagnosis has been in perfect health. She has an aggresive type of cancer and has opted to accept no treatment. Grandpa died last year and she feels this is her time to go be with Grandpa. the oncologist had initially thought she would have about 6 months left. She is home receiving Hospice care (along with a lot of family taking turns). She has deteriorated very fast in the last couple of days. The hospice nurse today feels it is only a matter of days. Sooooo we are now having to very seriously consider that we will not be able to go on this vacation. You all know how much I want to go on this cruise, but grandma is so much more important to us than a vacation. She wants to die so badly and has been asking God all day today to please take her. Her priest was there today and she was very happy to see him. She was talikng in Italian alot today and thinking about her choldhood so who knows. Its out of our hands so we will play it day by day and hopefully we will get to say good-bye to grandma and then go on our vacation. We just can't go on vacation if she is still hanging on like this. It is soooooo sad.

Better news. TD 4 looks like it will not impact our trip as much as expected,however on the current track it could still impact the East Coast.
If it continues on a more northernly track than westernly, it would curve north and miss the USA. More of a turn to the west would have a greater potential impact on us. Those folks flying later next week from the Carolina's north should watch this if it stays on track.

AT 800 AM AST...1200Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION FOUR WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 13.0 NORTH...LONGITUDE 25.2 WEST OR ABOUT 130 MILES...210 KM...SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHERNMOST CAPE VERDE ISLANDS.

THE DEPRESSION IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 16 MPH...26 KM/HR. A TURN TOWARD THE NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED TODAY.
THE DEPRESSION IS CURRENTLY PASSING TO THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. OUTER RAIN BANDS AND SQUALLS WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE SOUTHERN CAPE VERDE ISLANDS TODAY.

Suzanne, thoughts and prayers are with you. DH lost his mother to Alzheimer's last year and though it was a blessing it was still very traumatic. I hope she is peaceful and does not suffer, and I send you strength.

And I was going to just buy an underwater camera for CC, but then my husband wanted to get the underwater case for the digital camera instead. Even at a steal, it was $90.....
But I've seen some nice pics come from those disposables, they're much better nowadays. I say buy one!

This is why I'm wearing bloomers. Mine are red and black plaid (because my seamstress friend makes scottish clothing) but I desperately wish I could find my pair with the frogs on them. Wouldn't that be fun for pirate night? Seriously, if you want to make a pair of bloomers cheaply, get a pair of plain-colored capri's and use fabric glue to put lace around the bottom. Then grab the hem of your skirt and tuck it into your waistband to show off your nifty bloomers!
