Patsy,

I hope you get some sleep and start to feel better soon.

Thanks.
It'll go away in a couple weeks and I'll be fine :)

POR has direct buses to Downtown Disney. I am trying to think of a market that's not far from the Disney resorts. I know there's a Publix not too far away, and a Goodings. I am not sure though, how you could get there to pick up the food. I still think having your own stash of food would be your best bet. Things like pop tarts and cereal, granola bars and cookies could be packed in your luggage. The food court has a mini market which sells stuff like milk and juice so you could buy that there. They also sell fruit and even prepackaged sandwiches but I'm not sure that's any more of a bargain than just buying the resort food. POR sells refillable mugs. They're $12 and you can refill them at the drinks stations for your length of stay. You could always just buy one or two and share. (Shhh, I didn't say that.) They usually have a variety of sodas, coffee, hot tea, iced tea and either fruit punch or power ade available with the mugs.

Depending on the length of your travel day, maybe you could pick up the deli meats at home and carry them in a lunchbox type cooler with a bunch of ice packs til you get to your hotel. Rolls and bread could be stowed in your luggage or carry on in ziploc baggies, then you could use the baggies to pack the sandwiches that you take with you for the day.

Maybe you should check out the DISboards Resorts threads and ask the question about getting food from a local grocery store in the WDW area. I'm sure there's someone who can shed more light on the situation. They may even offer resort delivery, I'm not sure though. If I was going to be up there the same time, I'd be more than happy to pick stuff up and drop it off for you but I won't get there til the weekend. You'll be mighty hungry by then. :rotfl2: Sorry, couldn't resist.

We are staying at POR from August 29 until cruise. I have not even told my DH that I found this out today and we just got our electric bill for $800.00. Good old Southern California Edison. Any suggestions are welcomed thanks. :listen:

Oh, man! Are you absolutely sure that they won't allow his CM discount? I totally would be angry and disappointed, too. What's the good of having the perks if they won't even let you have them? It seems completely arbitrary. Are you Disney Visa members, Disney Vacation Club members, or Annual Pass holders? They all get some discounts. I've gotten a lot of money-saving ideas from the Budget board, you might try asking there.

First I heard we could not dine until 8:30 p.m. to get the discount which was fine because we have late dining on the cruise and we are from the west coast. Now the blackout times came out and it is for the whole free dining period so I guess the resteraunts are too full to allow for discounts. DL does nothing like this that I have ever encountered it is just WDW. I need to do a little more research to see if this is for all meals or just dinner. If it is just dinner than I can live with that. I guess there are worse things in the world.

The pictures everyone are posting of their families are great. :thumbsup2

I understand the hestitation to show your kids on the internet so thanks for sharing.

You're all so cute. I'm not really seeing any "pooh sized" people, so I guess I will be the only one scaring small children with my cellulite :lmao:

I CAN'T WAIT! (to get on the cruise that is, not scare your kids... :rolleyes1)

Is everyone sleeping? I am just :surfweb: and eating popcorn::. I thought I would check-in. Nobody is here. I am :bored:. Can you tell? Oh well, we will be on the first page in the morning. I guess I could do this :yay: or this  to burn off some fat. Maybe I will just do :happytv: and then go to bed.

HOLE-EE KEY-RUD 800 bucks! :scared1: I recently had to put new brakes on my truck and it was about that much too. I was thinking: WHY NOW?!?!?! Of all the times to have to come up with "extra" money....

Oh well, that's like I guess. I just feel blessed to have the money to get on this cruise in the first place. I need this vacation like you wouldn't believe. (Though I am guessing we all do).

I hope you are able to find some cost saving tips. Maybe something good will come along that will help turn your luck around. I am going to go look and see what I can find.

Sending you some pixie dust pixiedust:

:rotfl2: Too funny Lori! Crazy how my brain knows what I SHOULD do, but I just can't make my body do it, :confused3

I was a little shocked also. It is not a mistake. Southern California Edison got to raise the rates like 35% or something and it is retro active from January. I stay at home so we usually have high bills but not that high.

Naaaaaaaah :rotfl:

Is it mainly the air conditioner?

Up here our highest months are in the winter because we have the heat on so much. Summers are actually pretty low. Guess thats one good thing about living in the Arctic North.... just kiddin' we are having beautiful weather right now :sunny:
