Rink is very cute. I was looking at pug's but they have a lot of problems because of their faces. I also heard they can't swim and we have a pool that is not gated. Does anyone know about this? We are getting way to close to our trip. I am feeling the pressure now. What is going on with the other threads? I missed it!

Yeah, Pugs and Shih-Tzus have a lot of the same problems-- my vet said.
They both have the smashed in faces and sometimes their nose doesn't develop properly. I forget what the actual condition is called, but Rink had it.
There is a corrective surgery where they enlarge their nose-- so that they can breathe better and as long as they have it done when they're young, it won't hurt their respiratory system. He said the longer I waited, the longer he got used to breathing through his mouth and the longer his body cut off the respiratory .. areas? from his nose.. I really don't remember ALL of it.. Something about how his respiratory system would get used to the one way and it would prevent him from getting all the air he needed and probably take a few years off his life.
He had the surgery.. haha

They also, because they have the smashed faces, get a lot of goop in their eyes. Vet said to make sure to watch for it at LEAST every couple days because it can cause them to go blind from having it in there.
It drives Rink crazy, though, and he'll usually use his paws or the floor to get it out himself.


*edit* oh and the swimming thing..
Vet said it's because they're so small, they sometimes have issues keeping their heads above large waves. He told me I'd have to make a point to teach Rink to swim *we also have an inground, nonfenced in pool* but he fell in the pool once when he was little and he swam .. I've brought him in with me a couple more times, though, just to try to make sure he'd be okay if something happened..

WE GOT OUR WRISTBANDS in the mail today! They came really quickly. They are an interesting color green but as long as you all can recognize us, I'm okay with it. They came out great, they did a nice job on them!

Thanks for all the info Patsy. I used to manage a swim school so hopefully I could teach a dog to swim. Lisa, your dog is so cute also. This is all making me want a dog so much.

As part of my "summer shopping" (read: DCL wear) I went to Old Navy (where they are having a SUPER sale, btw, 50% off of clearance!), where I discovered a ton of super cute dog shirts (not on the sale, but inexpensive)! I ended up buying two for me and one for the hub. So when you get to the terminal, I'll be the one with the pink bulldog shirt

I also bought the boys each a pawprint bandana at Target......and when I got home I discovered that my boys apparently have abnormally large necks for their body size because the large (22") was too small!
DH was rather pleased with that. I was bummed. Oscar and Noggin were indifferent.

Yup, that's probably the best way to identify us. In fact, I have my little Jack Sparrow beanie from Mc D's right in front of me as I type. Sad, isn't it?!

I've got two of my kids dolls some where. I'll have to thow those in the luggage as well or just carry Jack in my carry on.

Rocky, Oscar and Noggin are SO cute! Man I love puppies.

My dog, Luna, is part boxer too, the other part of her is Catahoula Leopard, she is quite a goofy little mutt.

I loved the picture of Ginger's tail - that was really cute. It's fun gettin "accident" shots. Or I guess getting more in a picture than what I was aiming for.

My best guess is the hat they have at the parks. It looks like the top half of Stitch's (from Lilo and Stitch) head, complete with teeth. It kind of creeps me out, actually.
