Disney Wonder Sept 3-7,2006 Part 2

Too true Heidi and Jan.

I know that I'm better off doing it the way that I am (not to mention we'll at least have retirement and equity in our home, etc. They'll have nothing.)
...just gets frustrating at times.

In good news, that I totally forgot amongst my bargain-ness of the evening (did I mention Old Navy has 50% off clearance w/ the code "extra50"- I got Tom 5 Long Sleeved Shirts, a ton of crap for baby, a maternity top and maternity jeans for $41!)

...Tom Tom was officially diagnosed with PTSD today by the VA!!
No more drugs in the mail, no more crap about bi-polar disease... He's officially PTSD and the VA is paying for him to see a non-VA counselor that specializes in PTSD therapy. I'm so happy!

Morning!:goodvibes I  the nursery bedding, how cute. It'd be cute to have a little rocket ship mobile for little Lucas. I love the colors and wowza, what a great deal you got too, WTG! Thanks Tom for holding up the blanket for us to see.

I'm so glad Tom will be able to get the help he needs/wants. :thumbsup2

There's so much more to reply to, but I have to get going :(.

And I know what you mean about the people having babies left and right out of wedlock. Not meaning to offend anyone who did but there are actually girls out there now that are like 16 and want a baby because they want the "unconditional love"... what?! It drives me nuts.
I have a friend who has a 1 year old. (Well, okay.. she's not a friend-- we went to high school together!) and she doesn't go to school, has NEVER had a job and I see her at the mall ALL THE TIME without her son. I asked her once and she said her MOM keeps the baby from Thursday-Monday.
She only actually has her son from Monday afternoon to Thursday morning...
WHY do parents do this? If she were working, going to school or SOMETHING I could understand... but just enabling your daughter to go to the mall and neglect her kid? WHY?! I just don't understand.
(BTW, this girl lives in a house her dad pays the rent and utilities on!)
I just don't get it.

Sorta drives me nuts with my sorta-SIL, too. They're not married, which.. whatever. It's their decision and I'm not going to judge them for it, to each their own.
BUT we know one of the biggest reasons they aren't getting married is because she gets WIC, Food Stamps, HUD and the medical card because she doesn't work and doesn't have to claim BIL's income, even though he takes care of her!

So her pregnancy will be 100% covered by my tax dollars while I struggle with having $100/paycheck deducted to go into a HealthCare Spending account so I can afford to have this baby.
How is that fair?? :sad2:

You would not believe how many teenage girls come in to the ER and when you ask can you be preg-maybe is the answer!!! What is wrong with you people! My friend would leave her kids to go "Party" on the weekend! I never did because I feel my kids are my responsiblity and I should raise them!
I dont understnad either why parents do that Patsy!
It isnt fair!
I think they should get rid of ALL WIC< FOOD STMAPS< SECTION 8< If you did not put money into social security then you dont get any! If you want food and a house GO WORK FOR IT! If you cant afford it then you dont eat!

Patsy, it is not fair at all. My taxes pay for her baby too. I see kids having babies in my job all the time and Grandma's raising their grandchildren. :sad2:

A system that was "supposed" to help people has enabled them to take advantage of all the rest of us.

Bottom line--children do best when their parents are married and committed to each other and to the kids. You and Tom are giving Lucas the best gift possible by loving each other and being committed to making a healthy family. You go girl! :flower3:

AMEN!

I saw that thing on the news!!! About that one high school with the click of girls just getting knocked up to have the baby...and one even slept with a homeless man!!! I tell you...what is this world coming to?:confused3 It is so sad.:guilty: And WOW about that girl you know. At least the only girl I knew who got knocked up dropped out of high school...I'm assuming she's raising the kid but I guess you can't be too sure these days.

And really...that isn't fair at all. I can't believe she's cheating the government like that.:sad2: :confused3
But Patsy...just remember...you are going to be MUCH happier than her. You have a guy that loves you (not saying your bil doesn't love her but you know...you and Tom have made a commitment and he sounds very loving :goodvibes ) and will always be there to help raise the child you two made together.:goodvibes

They all are!!! Look at people on welfare and section 8 look at the Cell phone, big screen TV etc. And all us idiots working are paying for them to have all this!!!! Like I said before get rid of everything if you cant afford it then you dont get it! IF you done have enough money and you are hungry then you dont eat, if you want to eat GET A JOB LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!

Great bargain!

Good for TOm! That's great!

Vicki-- Where are you going when you leave your current hospital?

I forget. I suck. My memory has *poofed*...

:yay: GOOD NEWS!! :yay:
Sounds like he can get the kind of help he needs now!
WONDERFUL!
.

wow...I missed a bunch of stuff here, sorry.

Patsy, isn't it fun knowing it's a boy? I LOVE your nursery set, the colors are gorgeous and they'll catch Lucas' eye when he's laying there. Very cute!

It is one of my hugest pet peeves about all the girls getting pregnant for the wrong reason. I always say, if you couldn't manage to prevent a pregnancy, how the heck can you raise a child?? I know that accidents do happen, but seriously?! I know girls who have three kids from different fathers and their parents raise all these kids while they're off shopping around for their newest babydaddy. Pathetic!

I was like both of you, Patsy and Heidi. All I wanted was to settle down and have a family, from when I was 18 on. It didn't work out quite the way I'd planned it, but it all fell into place when I was 28 and had Logan. I'm not the youngest mom on the block but I have three amazing kids and it all turned out great for me. Don't worry about the timeline...we each get to it in different ways. In the end it all works out. :grouphug:

Because in their warped minds that means that 3 different guys "LOVED" them!

I agree dont worry about a timeline! When its right it will happen!

Yep... crazy people.
Sex doesn't equal love.
Sex equals a good time. :rotfl:

I like this new smiley they've got over on the side box now: :clown:

Don't know when I'll ever use it though. :confused3

:wave2:
Our furniture got delivered!I totally forgot about it.

We're going to do some damage to our Lowe's credit card tomorrow...
They're doing 10% off energy star appliances...

And then all Lowes are running a credit promotion, that you can get another 10% off if you put it on your Lowes Card OR 12 months 0% interest.

To get everyones business, the one closest to us (There are 3 within 30 minutes) is giving you BOTH.

So it'd be 20% off appliances and 12 months 0% interest.

We're getting a freezer (I looove to stock up on stuff and NEED a freezer, as we're using two here and I am running out of room), a dishwasher and an electric hot water heater.

Thank god I paid off the Lowes card..
...Last week... :upsidedow

We're pretty careful, I see too many people everyday that can't pay their bills or are defaulting on their loans.

We, surprisingly, only spent $1800. Thats a month and a half of GI Benefits. No biggie. We got a crapton, too! Carpet detail, energy star upright freezer, energy star dishwasher, a 50gallon electric water heater (+delivery charge for all three), 300 ft of grounded electrical wire, electrical boxes, 2 new lighting fixtures, a shelf for Lucas (picture later)w/cloth bins, a 5-tier stainless steel shelf that will start in kitchen but move to basement when we redo kitchen, 30amp breakers, concrete anchors, stuff to make an outlet in the basement (boxes, conduit.. stuff I don't know what to do with but got a list from Tom's uncle electrician fellow, haha), 2 kits to put lights in dark areas of the basement (another uncle electrician task!), 4 furnace filters, stuff for me to start my own veggies (peat pots/soil/seeds), paint, primer, varnish, cool design thing w/ hooks to put on bathroom wall for robes/towels, pull chains...etc.

The carpet lady called us at 5 (we did carpet when we first got there) to let us know the workup she did would expire at the end of the day and wanted to know if we had changed our minds.
I said 'Uhm. We're still in the store'..
She about died laughing. We'd been there over 4 HOURS!...

Lots of little tasks to do now.

..and we picked up the changing table, which I site-to-store'd from Wal Mart, and it claims 1 person can put it together in 1 hour.
It took 3 of us OVER THREE HOURS and it's still not done.
What the crap?! :sad2:

I'm glad I didn't attempt this when I was super-pregnant.. You have to crawl around on your hands and knees and twist weird ways to screw things in.

It's definitely meant for the "dad" to put together if they truly only want one person.

However.. I think Tom has no idea how a screwdriver works..
He did electrical stuff in the Marine Corps. and things that involve hammering, assembling, screwing or drilling are not his forte.. :rotfl:
