Disney Wonder Sept 3-7,2006 Part 2

Let us know what you come up with. Good luck!!!

Maybe some time you could shoot me an email and give me some suggestions on what L should write for his scholarship applications? He is clueless and so am I. We're new at this and have nobody to ask.

I will let you all know!:goodvibes I'm deciding when to post it cause the example of the online resume they showed included when you earned your degree and I have not quite finished getting it yet, just have one semester left, I might wait til the start of the semester to put it up just so it doesn't seem too early. I just want to have a foot in the door for when I graduate or at least doors open and different opportunities I can pursue.

I would be glad to help out! Let me know what he has to write about I know different colleges ask different questions or what not. The one for UNCW just said "personal statement" so I wrote about the reasons why I wanted to attend UNCW and why it was the perfect school for me. But I know some colleges ask specific questions for you to write in your essays. It's all very scary stuff!:scared1: :rotfl:

Ahh...I just remembered you said scholarship apps not college apps. Those ones are even more time consuming!:rotfl: The ones I always had to fill out had so many different sections to fill out and were just a pain in my butt! I finally just saved the answers for them all so I didn't have to keep writing them over on different applications!:rotfl:

Thanks for the tips. When and if he ever provides me with specifics, I'll be posting more questions, I'm sure. :lmao: He's not really a go getter when it comes to this stuff so I'm nervous that he'll miss out on something really good. :scared1:

Yeah I'm gonna be honest...neither was I...:rotfl: :sad2:
I know I'm paying for my education and you think I'd be like YAY SCHOLARSHIPS!!! But when you don't get any after filling out ZILLIONS of applications...it doesn't encourage you to do it every year.:confused3 The thing that REALLY gets me is how they set up getting stuff from the school. Because of my parents income, I only got a little small loan from them and no scholarship or any kind of help. It really makes me mad cause my parents income has NOTHING to do with how the school is getting paid. What they need to realize is that some students are paying for it themselves. They should really ask that kind of stuff because it really does make me mad that they won't help me just because they think my parents are handling the financials and are basing everything off of their income.
I just wish they would realize that every case is different.

That's a good one, Vicki!:thumbsup2 I didn't think of that...I was thinking animal lover but that doesn't really say what kind of a worker I am/would be.:confused3 But I like that one Vicki!:goodvibes

You're welcome!

I asked Holly last night but she said what is a descriptive phrase?? I said I don't know.:confused3 And she asked if they gave an example but they did not. But you guys have given me things that I hadn't thought of, thanks!!!:goodvibes

Anytime! Thats what we are here for!

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08353/935972-388.stm Check it out!!!!!!!

TSO did 2 shows the first one didnt end till 7pm and ours started at 8pm. So there was NO where to park because the 1st group was still there! But what a show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ours was in D.C. so we took the Metro in. But I could imagine parking being a zoo... Especially with an earlier show!!:scared1:
My parents one time called me when they were in a parking garage at a mall and it took them over an hour...or maybe even two hours or more...to get out!!!!:scared1:

I think helping kids who want and need it with applications is a way of supporting them as they make life changes and pushing them out of the nest, in a good way. Not pushing them out to crash and burn, but helping them out and encouraging them to try their own wings.

you are a good Mama.

I know what you mean, but how many kids would say they were paying when they did not have to or did not want to. There are adults out there who would say, you say you are on your own and then we don't have to spend our vacation money on college.

We asked our sons to take out student loans with the understanding that we would pay student loan and parent loans back. They got no school aid whatsoever.

Yeah I know people would lie. But it's just hard cause some support would have been nice. (Not from my parents...the school. I have no problem at all paying for my education. It makes me work a little harder and it just makes it all more worthwhile.:goodvibes ) I had one friend tell me to become *independent* but I don't know if she realized for the most part I am dependent on my parents.:confused3 They buy most of my stuff (I know when I graduate I will have to start buying more stuff on my own :rotfl: ) but for right now they understand that I am in college and don't really have money to pay for a lot of things. I don't mind them claiming me on my taxes cause they take me on so many wonderful vacations. And of course they love me. :lovestruc

I actually wish the schools gave no scholarships because then everyone would pay less.

Because you paid full price and we paid full price the schools are able to give scholarships to students.

I know, some scholarships are special money given by people for students who fit certain descriptions, but if everyone who wanted to give money to the school, just gave it to the school I bet they could cut tuition for everyone.

Or if they stopped putting plasma screen TVs all over campus!:rotfl: We have so many plasma TVs in our buildings now it's ridiculous. And most of them are either off or are on but no one is watching it's just a waste of money!:sad2:

I hear you! Every so often my Wal-Mart register tape invites me to go on line to take a survey. One of the questions is about the hanging TVs. I ignore them on principal so when they ask if I noticed them I say NO. :lmao:

Sophia Tosha princess: went home from the hospital today.
