Disney Wonder - October 14, 2012 - Hawaii

Thank you for the quick responses! I wish I had discovered FEs sooner - I don't remember seeing them on our last cruise. We're going to be busy crafters this month!

Does anyone have a good tip for treating seasickness in children? My three-year old had trouble on our cruise last year - the rest of us were fine. My pediatrician suggested gravol, but I don't want him to be drowsy.... he's a lot of fun and we want to hang out with him!

Some of the non-prescription options are: ginger, green apples, sea bands. I bought an herbal motion sickness aid called Motion-Eze. Applied behind the ears, it smells a bit like Eucalyptus and seemed to work well for my DS.

Of course, discuss any options with your pediatrician. Did you mention to him that the gravol makes him drowsy?

Thanks!

We tried the seabands, but he's very small and they fell off his wrist. I'll look into some of the others - I didn't know we could purchase ginger tablets. And green apple - that's a new one for me too.

We booked our stay at Disneyland (first time) and arranged our rental cars. I'm really getting excited!

We're getting excited too! We are going to Disneyland the Saturday before the cruise (first time) but staying at a non-Disney hotel. But on the Sunday return, we're staying at Grand Californian Villas. Very excited for all parts of this trip (pre-cruise, cruise, HAWAII, return cruise and post-cruise) -- it's 5 trips in one!

As I'm not on Facebook, I have a few questions if anyone knows the answers :) Do we know which nights are formal, semi-formal (and how many)? Can tuxes be rented on the Wonder? (Have only been on the Magic) Any idea who the captain and cruise director are? THANK YOU !

I asked DCL, here's their response:

14-Night Hawaii Cruise:

*Nights 1, 3 through 11 and 14: cruise casual
*Night 2: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 12: pirate night - cruise casual or bring your best pirate
outfit!
*Night 13: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.

It does feel like many trips - we're going to California for the week before the cruise (arriving on Oct. 6th). We've never gone that far West. We'll be staying at Paradise Pier - I've gone to WDW 6 times, but this is our first time at Disneyland. It's very different.... it feels like I'm planning our very first Disney trip.

Thank you for that info, I was wondering too. For the "regular" nights, do you know if they will rotate the same three menus? Or will there be more variety? We've only done a 7-day cruise before, so I was curious how the longer cruises worked.

If you want to do Champaign girls/Pink Ladies and Stud Muffins..let me know.

There will be a different menu each night.

For the April cruise the menus were
Let the Magic Begin
Taste of California
Rotational
Rotational
Rotational
Welcome E Komo Mai
Celebrate Ho'olaule'a
The Bounty of the Islands Makahiki
Aloha Hawaii
Golden Mickeys
Master Chef
Pirates of the Caribbean
Captain's Gala
Till We Meet Again

I will point out that several people were not impressed with the chef's interpretation of Hawaiian cuisine.

Two months from this very moment I will be sitting at Palos with my sweetie :love:The only thing about this trip that isn't perfect is that it won't be whale season. Does anyone know if the April crew got to see some? On the bright side it is a great reason to go back. ;)

We're going to Halloween party on the 9th.

I looked at the list on p 66... Thanks! I used my husband's Id to join the Facebook group and I'll start reading everything tonight. We have a lot to catch up on. I don't even know what a stud muffin is.

Joining Facebook is the best thing you could do. You can edit the documents by yourself and see what else is going on. There are some good tips on FB. Hope you can find all.
And I also didn't know what stud muffin is, but reading that post I think I know now. It is sometimes difficult to understand all what is said here and on FB if English is not your home language. (and especialy the strange words/expressions/idiom)
