Disney Wonder - October 14, 2012 - Hawaii

I am waitlisted at Disney ca. .Wondered if i should just book reservations at another hotel? Anyone have suggestions of which...and is Disney doing transportation if on site?

Very disappointed. ..

I called a few days ago to book GC and was asked if I wanted to waitlist. I chose to book a room that way it was one less things to worry about. :yay: I chose PP because it was across the street from GC and we plan on doing CA and they have an entrance at the hotel. DL is not far from any of the hotels in my opinions and I think only DLH is the only one with transportation. I've had the opportunity to stay at each of the hotels and they are all great.

we are waitlisted..but the rooms at GC that you can book on points havent opened up yet, so we are staying the course and check back once the rooms open up.

We stayed at the Anabella for our latest trip to DL, which was a couple of days ago. I had waitlisted at the VGC, but when the waitlist hadn't come through a week before our trip, I booked the Anabella and hoped for the best. It is on Katella, basically at the corner of Disneyland Drive, which made it about a half mile walk to the Grand Californian and its access to the park and Downtown Disney. The walk to the park wasn't so bad, the walk back on the other hand ... Let's just say that after a long day at the park I wished we were at the VGC.
The property itself wasn't bad for what we paid, which I think was around $100 a night (about a third the cost of the Disney properties, even with annual passholder rates). It is basically a nicely renovated motel-style older property. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. We really appreciated the little mini room with tv and day bed that became our daughter's room. It was a decent property, I would probably stay there again, but only if the villas weren't available.
Hope that helps anyone looking for places to stay before or after the cruise.

I think we might stay at the Candy Cane Inn the night before- We've stayed there before (after Panama Canal last Jan) and liked it. We only have one day before or after so will probably not do a park at all (although we land noonish on saturday). We will probably stay near the airport after the cruise. I have to run that plan by the DH first though LOL.

Is someone tracking the pre cruise hotels. Were just not sure where to stay. This is our 2nd trip to DL and last time we have enough points to stay at the dlh. This time we only have 2 points for this year left and will have to pay out of pocket. Any suggestions on hotels would be great. We want to stay as close to the parks as possible but since we don't want to pay for Disney hotels we just don't know where to stay. My concern is we will be at the parks on Friday until they close hopefully doing Halloween party if available and then on Saturday we will want to be there when it opens and go to both parks until they close we don't want to walk forever to get back.

Has anyone looked at the excursions on their own? What does everyone suggest for the islands. Were talking about zip lining on Kauai because we've been there before and we both want to try it.

Only 7 months and we will be on our way to Hawaii.:yay:

:wave2: Hello from England, glad you are still coming we thought you may of switched as we'd not seen you on the boards. Say Hi to Annette from me and Mum, Amanda.

Looking forward to cruising and seeing you both.

Hi back at ya. Hope everyone there is well. I wouldnt give up this sailing for anything. Between school and work, life has been crazy. I should be able to keep up now that work is settled. I switched departments last week so i will no longer be working 12 hour days.

What are your plans before the cruise?

We are staying at the Hyatt Regency Orange County. We land on the Thursday but will have been travelling for approx. 18hrs :scared1: so will be straight to bed. Then are thinking of a Hollywood tour on the Friday, so could have time for a pre cruise drink or two? Then Saturday are planning to hit DL to try to see as much as possbile as we've never been to the West coast before. :woohoo:

Sunday we're going to ask my cousin for brunch as she lives somewhere near LA, but near could be 100 miles, so may not come off, as we want to be on the ship asap as this is our first time on the Wonder.

Let us know if your plans have room for a pre cruise drink though I bet we couldn't find a bar with as much character as the one we were in, in Bracelona :rotfl:.

We haven't got a clue what to do on what Island so will take any advice we can get!

We are a busy bunch. I'm looking forward to being busy with cruise planning.

This going to be a good week. We will be under 200 days:cool1:

Just back from doing B2B cruise on the Wonder for March break, now I can concentrate on this cruise!

There is a new onboard booking policy for DCL. You can only book one cruise while on board. I asked if possibly I could book one and my son book another, but was told no because we live in the same household. I know last year we booked multple cruises...

Since we sailed B2B, he did let me book two more cruises. Booked a 4 day cruise out of Miami before the canal cruise ( already have WBPC booked), and a dummy date that we can decide on later.

WOW B2B on the Wonder?? 2 MR cruises..what did you do at the ports for both??

Well, it is getting closer..

but we need shirts, lanyards, door signs, FE gifts, excursions, activities for the sea days..on the PC trip I was on - we had Mickey Bar eating contests, hidden Mickey hunts, Breakfast for the DISers, meets almost eavery day for those interested..hmm..we have a lot to do..

I like how you think.

Hi All....just thought I'd pop in and say Hi.

I'll be joining you all in October, along with my sister, brother in law, and 2 neices from the UK

This will be my 10th cruise and my sister's familys first. My BIL and I will be celebrating our 50th birthday year and we can't wait. I booked the cruises last October and we've been planning our trip since then. I said I'd pop in and say hi and see what you've all been discussing since the thread opened.

Not sure if I'll be able to take part in the FE as luggage allowances from the UK are very limited. Interested in the postcard exchange and I love the material design for the shirts. I'll mention it to the others and let you know if we're in.

Need to now read on.

Yes I agree with you. How we're gonna do it? On the WBTA 2011 the owner of the post had made some spare treads in the start to show all the activeties you can join. We had lanyard, FE, Candy, Secret Mickey but also a pub crawl, champagne girls, several tastings, group farewell lunch, pre cruise meet in Barcelona, pyama breakfast, Mickey night, stateroom tour, meet with the little childeren, linked dining, group Palo Brunch (because we cann't booked it individuel, lots of first time cruisers then). shore excursions. Etc.
So lets start I would say. I will help to organize things, but if it concerns things that must be arranged by Disney, it is not so good idea to do this from here. And I am a beginner to all of this.
