We currently have 2 DIS board members.
Plus, there are 4 other cabins that have said they want to sign up, they just have not joined the DIS board yet.

I will add an FE list to the first thread, and keep it updated as we grow.

Check your PM's for a message with the info I need to fill in for the FE list.

P.S. Mshelby, did you want to join the FE? Just let me know, and I can send you out a PM as well.
Kathleen shrimp would like to join please

I was in the process of typing as your response came. I will read up on it in just a second. I did however find the chairs story. Ok, wow.
I will admit, if that happened to me, I would have been in a full blown anxiety attach. However, I still think this is an isolated event that is getting more attention because it is bad news. The tips that were given in the article are very good advice.
"
"For parents who are considering a future cruise ship vacation with their children, I suggest that you:
  1. Before booking a cruise, read the safety materials in the cruise lines' websites
  2. After booking a cruise, read the safety materials in your cruise documents before your vacation. The cruise line or your travel agent will send these documents
  3. After boarding the cruise ship, meet with the daycare staff and have them show a successful test of any wristband or other technology used to track young children
  4. After boarding the cruise ship, review with daycare staff the safety procedures involving lost/missing young children before you drop them off at daycare, so you know what the process is and what to do during or after an emergency
In 2003, my wife and I sailed with our children, who were teenagers at that time. Before leaving on vacation, we reviewed with them the ship's safety rules, which we
expected them to comply with 100%."

Beachie_keen, you are already being proactive, and that is a good thing.

Let me ask you all though to Please Please, not get stressed out before your trip. Believe me, it will ruin the whole vacation. Hubby and I went on an us cruise back in January, and one of the ports of call was Routan. Some one had posted a news article about how unsafe this port was, and that it was posted that the US government had put it on the list of top 5 places that US citizens should not visit because of the high danger. I let this get to me, and I did all kinds of research. With each report about tourist murder, or robbery, or assault, I would get more stressed. My stress grew to the point that I was not wanting to get off the boat. My husband convinced me to get off once in port to search for the chonies that had mysteriously made there way out of my bag before we got to the boat (my theory is the cat did it....see my cat story earlier). The visit to town turned out to be one of the best experiences of the cruise. Now I wish we would have kept our zip line tour.

After our 6 Disney Cruises, the only non-magical moment I can put my finger on was the dining room staff on one of our cruises. It was worse than going to a local restaurant that is frequented by tourists during tourist season. Unfortunately, we waited until night 5 to say anything. Once we did, we were relocated, and dinner improved tremendously.

I am going to check out the link above, and be back in a bit.

Hi Kathleen. I think we chatted last night. Welcome to our group. I will add you to the Roll Call, and if I am understanding correctly you want to join the FE as well. If I am correct, I will need you to get the number of posts that you have made up to 10 (you only have 8 to go), and I will send you a PM with the information needed for the FE.

~Tink~

yes we did chat last night and just was able to sit down and find you thank you again for all your help last night

Hi Tink,

Tile (https://www.thetileapp.com). It works with bluetooth on your phone. We use them with the boys whenever we go to Disney. So far we haven't needed it.(THANK GOODNESS!)
My question is, does it need to be able to connect? In other words, will it work if your phone is in airplane mode? If it will still work, than it could help you keep track of them. However, if you can't get it to connect when in airplane mode, than it is not going to work unless you want to spend a pretty penny.

When on board, you can connect to Disney's App using the on board intranet (not to be confused with internet). You will want to put your phone into airplane mode before leaving port. I have heard a story from a fellow cruiser back in January that he had forgotten to put his to airplane mode until the 3rd day. When he got home, he had $700 charge for those 2.5 days.
The Disney App does bring up a good idea though (maybe not for the kiddos that are to young to keep track of a phone). For those who you would trust with a phone, you could keep in touch via the apps texting capabilities.

The tile works in airplane mode because it works off bluetooth not wifi.

Awesome. I think you may have just introduced a great idea. I wonder how many ship mates you could get to download the app before we sail. If you could get enough, you would have the span of the whole boat. I think that would be a great tool in ports as well.

I would love it if more people added the app to their phone.

I just received an update from my travel agent that I wanted to pass along in case there was anyone who was not notified.

I just received information from Disney that the time for Pirate night is changing on
the Wonder starting 11/6 going through the 12/24 sailing. The party will take place at
7:45 Pm between main and second dining.

This will be new for me. I wonder when they will have the dessert / party buffet they usually have after the pirate party / fireworks. Hum.....

I do have a? I have not seen anything about pin trading on the ship...like we did at Disney world.

There are trading opportunities on the boat. And lucky us, I hear from a few cast members we befriended, that the trading is better on the smaller boats.
You can do a good deal of trading in the shops on board. You will find a few of the cast members working in the shops wearing lanyards, and they do go by the same trading rules as in the parks. Also, hidden away at each register is a pin book. You are allowed to make 2 trades per visit to that counter. So, if you see 3 you like, you can swing back by later to make another trade. And finally, there will be 1 officer trading event at which we get to trade with the officers!

Thank you for the warm welcome
I like to treat others as I would want to be treated. So, what else would I do except welcome a part of my Disney cruising family the way Disney will welcome us.

And by the way Your welcome!

Ok, I have a question about Pirate night. Is it chilly on deck? I ordered sweat pants to use for the boys outfits (with the intention of cutting them) and I am just wondering if they will be too hot. I also got long sleeve t-shirts for under the vest and plan on cutting those as well which I can adjust to how warm or cool it will be. I have all our clothes for pirate night, now we just need the accessories.

I have never been cold on Pirate night (and we usually cruise in the Fall), and I am someone who is chilly when it falls below 80, and down right cold below 70.
I think because the pool deck is like a bowl - you have glass panels all along both sides of the deck creating the edge of that deck, and another deck above. The above deck is basically a walking path around / above the pool deck. So there is a large opening in the center that allows sun to shine down on the pool (which by the way, the pool has a wooden floor covering it during deck parties). This allows for very little wind to actually blow around the pool area. Then, add a majority of those on board crowded in for the party, and you have body heat.
If it were me, I would go ahead and cut the sweats, and the shirts. The boys will be wearing their out fits to dinner, and it will probably be a bit cooler in the dining room than on deck at the party and they will appreciate having the sweats on.

Attention all first time Disney Cruisers...

This weekend is your online check in window (your cruise needs to be paid in full before you can complete your online check in). You are able to complete your online check in and start booking your excursions on Sept. 13. I would suggest that you try pulling up the my reservation section of the Disney cruise website either today or tomorrow so that you will know how to find everything. You will need a Disney account (if you have an account with any of Disney's websites, that will work. If not, you will need to create one), your reservation number, and the birthday of the person in your cabin who's Disney account you are using.
Then rest up, so that after dinner tomorrow night, you can put on a pot of coffee and plan on staying up late. At midnight (I think they go by Florida time, so for those of you that are here in Texas, you can try to log on at 11 PM Saturday night), you can begin your check in.
I would suggest having a game plan. Decide what is the most important to you - excursions (especially ones that might fill up) or port arrival time or Palo reservations (well, any on board reservations). What is it that you absolutely want when you want it, and what will you be okay with if you have to make adjustments. Placing the most important first, you will head to the my reservation section on Disney's cruise web page (if your travel agent has not sent you any details about this, I posted an explanation of how to get there with pictures, I believe about 2 pages back. It is explaining how to find out when pirate night is. You will get to on board activity reservations the same way, all the way to clicking on the day for on board activities, or for on line check in, you will go to the step before selecting plan your on board activities). If you choose to complete your online check in first to get a specific arrival time, I have a hack for you. The system will require you to complete about 5 steps before allowing you to choose your arrival time. You can return to these steps and complete them in there entirety later, so, go through and complete information for the main member in the cabin only for each section, and skip over the other passengers. Then return after you have booked and scheduled everything else to complete the other members info. You will need to have passports handy, and the credit card you plan to have on your account (if you are choosing to have your account on a cash settlement, this is not required). Do note, that if you add a credit card to your account, but want to settle the account with cash at the end, a hold for amounts charged to your account, including tips if not prepaid, will be placed on the card, and it could take between 7 to 14 days for that to clear off. If you are not sure at this time how you plan to settle your account at the end of the cruise, you can select cash, and then make adjustments to that when checking in at embarkation.
After you have all of the check in and bookings done, take a chance to look at everything the my reservation section has to offer if you have not done so already. My favorite is the character call. Even though the boys are older now, it is still fun to get a call from Mickey.

Ok I have questions. First are any Cabanas left? I have read that you should keep checking if none are available because sometimes you get lucky. Second, we don't have our passports yet (we have applied for them and are waiting on them to arrive) so will that keep me from registering online? Third, how important is an early arrival time?

Thank you so much Tink for all your help! You have been amazing!!
