I saw this blog post today, and thought it may be helpful for first time cruisers. It is about dining times.

First seating or second seating on your Disney Cruise Line Sailing
By Amy Lewallen ~ Member of .......

What will you miss out on while you’re at dinner? Absolutely nothing! Disney knows that their Broadway style shows are a magical part of the cruise and want to make sure that everyone, no matter what time they dine, will get the same experience. They perform the shows twice each night; once at 6:30pm and then again at 8:30pm, so you can attend the show either before dinner or after dinner – it’s your choice.

Are there any advantages for one seating time verses the other? If you have young children in your party, you may find the early seating is a better fit for you, especially if you are traveling close to your normal time zone. If you are from the West Coast and traveling in the Caribbean however, you may want to opt for the late seating so it is closer to your child’s normal eating time. Just know you may not be done with dinner till around 9:45pm or 10:00pm.

Another thought to keep in mind is excursions. If you are stopping in ports where you have to travel a distance to get to an excursion location, or if you want to spend the maximum amount of time off the ship, you may want to try the later seating so you do not have to worry about missing dinner. The European cruises are a good example of this. In many ports, you have to travel to get to the main city and the excursions may not get back to the ship to give you time to get to the first seating. Your .... travel consultant is able help you with your excursion planning.

If you do not get the seating you want when you book your cruise, just have your ..... travel consultant put in the request that you would like to change your seating time. Also, you can also a request a change once you get on board the ship at Guest Services desk. Disney Cruise Line will always do their best to accommodate you! And don’t worry, they will never run out of food!

One other thing, on the day we board, there will be a location listed on the Navigator (daily planning guide), with a time that you can go and request changes to your dining plan (time, starting location for rotational dining, etc), and make reservations for Adult only dining. And if your next question is where do I get the Navigator, then that is a simple question. They will give you one when you check in.

Hope this is helpful,

It dawned on me that we have not named our group yet :sad2:

Just a suggestion, I have designed shirts for my family for this cruise that say "Disney Wonder Black Friday Sail" on them.
What do y'all think about that as our group name?

FYI- the shirts are black and have a giant red price tag (w/ the hole cut out to look like a Mickey), there are sail away streamers through the hole, and then in yellow lettering, it reads "Disney Wonder Black Friday Sail $1127.15"

Cute... where do you get your Disney lettering from?

I searched for Disney fonts, and found one called Walt. I downloaded it to my computer, and use it for a number of my Disney projects.
There are several cute Disney fonts out there. They range from Princess to characters, to Mickey Hands. This is a great way to get character signatures on things. I made a quilt for my mom a few years back, and on 4 of the squares, I put each family members character, and then a character signature.

I also have 2 different Star Wars language fonts downloaded....:darth::chewy:....Yes, I know, my nerd is showing!

I saw that today. Our youngest will be graduating in 2 1/2 years, and has wanted to do a Europe Disney Cruise for his graduation trip for a few years now. When I told him there may be more options available, he eyes grew wide w/ excitement :earseek:

~Tink~
I am scared to see the prices but OMG... my wheels are already turning and i haven't even been on my first one yet... lol I didn't see any announcements on whether Wonder was still going to stay in Galveston or not though.

If (and that is a big IF...because of issues w/ Galveston's Port), they do come back, it would be for sailings around the same time of year. And unfortunately, we have to wait a few more months for those dates to be released.

On a side note, if they do come back to Texas, I would much rather them get a contract to sail out of the Port of Houston. Galveston is a nightmare:scared1:

Why do you say that? What is the difference between the two.

Galveston is an older port, and it gets so congested, especially when disembarking. The warehouse area of the terminal is disorganized at best. This is where you go to find your luggage after leaving the ship, and where you have to wait for customs.

The port of Houston is a newer cruise port, and is not as hectic.

Granted, they both have fog/weather issues. So there is no avoiding that issue.

No expectations is better than high expectations. On our last cruise, I went in with Disney's Port Canaveral expectations, and was not prepared for the difference.
The main thing you need to know is to plan on arriving early. If you are catching a shuttle from the parking lot, plan to be there at least an hour before you want to be at the port.
If it is a no fog day, and boarding is on time, I would suggest getting to the port a little earlier than your assigned boarding time (you will get a chance to choose your boarding time when you do your online check in, so as soon as online check in is available, don't dottle. Do it early, or you will be left w/ only late boarding times).
And on the day of disembarkation, don't make any plans for the morning, or early afternoon.
And if you anticipate a long boarding process, and an even longer disembarking time, when it goes smoothly, you will be pleasantly surprised.

But above all, plan to have an awesome Disney vacation in the middle, so any time delays that may arise don't stand a chance of dampening your vacation experience!

I did tell the hubs that I wanted to pick the earliest boarding time possible so that we can explore the boat before it gets too crowded.

Oh, and don't forget that you get to start enjoying the 'Wonder'ful food. The buffet will be open when you board, there should also be lunch served in one of the main dining rooms. Plus, all of the snack locations will be open as well.

And people wonder why the average person gains 5 pounds over the course of a 7 day cruise :drinking1popcorn:::cake::cake::cake:

***Looks like my magic word for today is Wonder. I bet it is because in 2 days we will be only 8 Months away from our Wonderful vacation:dancer:

~Tink~

I happen to be on the other end of that problem. I would be lucky if I could gain those 5 pounds.

**By the way, the song they are dancing to is

When I am done celebrating, the stress of
'that is not enough time to finish everything'
will set in.

Talked to the hubs. We are more interested in the wine/chocolate than mixology but will do the mixology if that's what the majority wants! We're also interested in the poker cabin crawl and maybe the meet and greet depending on when it is!

Getting super excited now that were under 8 months! I just started gathering stuff to make my FE gifts!

I will add your votes to the count.
Now as for excited, I am right there w/ you. I am glad school is almost done for the year. That will give me time to focus on everything that needs to be done.
I have one days worth of FE's prepped, and am currently working on the special favorite color ones.

Speaking of Favorite Colors, I still need the Favorite Colors for the adult Female in the following cabins:
BetsyF
Psalm3012 and
spjack13

If y'all could please reply w/ the color, I would really appreciate it. That way I can finish with the specials, and move onto the next project. :goodvibes

I asked hubs about the wine/chocolate tasting and he didn't seem interested (the other group for our cruise is organizing one)
But then we watched the Food Network Disney Cruise line special and he seemed a tad interested. I might be up for a shuffle board tourny. I am super competitive so that might be fun... and a toddler play date might be fun too! :) I might do the cabin crawl depending on when it is and how long it takes.
