Disney Wonder Jan 23, 2011

Hi, all
I will be there with my DH, DD3, DD5, DD7.

Is there any girls around my daughter age here?

Nice to meet you all. see you in 8 Days :)

I have a DD6 who LOVES the kids club - so maybe they can be friends :)

Andrea in Vegas

ok so i got my email from Randi about horseback riding...

Who else is going on this adventure? i would REALLY like to travel as a group to meet them...i guess i am being overly paranoid, but i would feel better knowing its not just my little family.. haha

Randi said
"We will be at the TERMINAL NOT THE SHIP NOR THE PIER AT 8:00AM TO PICK PEOPLE UP.
All you have to do is get off the ship, board one of the port supplied
shuttles and it will take you to the terminal building.
Just get off the shuttle, ignore all the many many pushy time share people,
walk straight thru the terminal and look for us.
We are difficult to miss, with our pink signs, as you exit the terminal
building."

so who else will be going there at 8am? maybe we can meet someplace on the ship and go together?

I made the mistake of looking at crime in Mexico and freaked myself out a little bit, HOWEVER this is something i REALLY want to go and experience.. sooo.. hopefully we can make it work and go as a group and my fears will be unjustified and we will have a fabulous time! hahaha

Andrea who is a huge worry wart!

Ryan - Our home resort is SSR but we don't want to stay there. Jambo House will be our first choice, Kidani second and OKW third but we would want a car there. I don't think we'll have a problem getting OKW or SSR at 7 months. I won't even bother trying for BWV during F&W.

mellyp - Our DD is turning 5 and would love to meet other kids her age. She is very shy at first and didn't want to stay at the club last time so hopefully by meeting other kids first, she will want to go with them.

My husband was thinking of taking my son fishing on an excursion, but the only one I saw was in Cabo and was $199 a person. Has anyone ever done it and was it worth it? Or dos anyone know of a cheaper way to go???
My husband has been out of town, came back yesterday looked at my pile of FE's and said "Are you kidding me?" He blames you for this Tonya. :)

Dave and I are going fishing in Mazatlan, we have a boat that holds 6 people and its only the two of us right now. Any one is welcome to come with us and if we got 6 people and split the cost is would be only $50 per person (whole boat is only $300.00)

The weirdest thing I ever packed was not for a cruise, but a gift for my nephew's 8th birthday. We wanted a sword and when his parents said no of course he asked me. I told him he already had a wood sword and he told me no Aunt Cathy I want a real one,,,,so what's a Aunt to do. I got him one at the renn fest and took it on a plane with me to MI. I did tell the airline that I had it in my bag and you should of seen the look on their faces:rotfl2:. I did have to open my bag and show them I had it wrapped up so it would not poke out the side.

We'll receive information from DCL to meet at a certain time in one of the lounges to be escorted off the ship and to be "processed." Then ,from what I've read, we'll be able to hang in the Cove Cafe, which is also the only time children are allowed in there.

I probably won't see anyone until the meet to disembark that morning as we'll be saying goodbye to my SIL, her DH, and my two nieces. My DS is quite attached to them, so I hoping the transition goes well. We're using, "They have to go back to school, but look how lucky you are" type of reasoning. Going horseback riding and celebrating his birthday later in the week will probably help, too, but then again he could want them there for that.

I'm glad to see that there are at least a couple of us doing the B2B.

Were you lucky enough to get the same cabin for both sailings or will you have to move?

Kris

Thanks for the information. I was not aware that we where going to have to be escorted off and processed again, but that's just a minor inconvenience.

I was not lucky enough to book the same cabin for both sailings. I added the first cruise much later and could only find an inside stateroom, however I have a window view for the MR cruise.

See ya on board in less than a week!

Hey Andrea, we'll be with you. We can certainly go as a group. Great idea. We'll determine a place to meet and go together; I know there are others too. It'll be fun. The crime in Mexico is not as prevalent in densly populated tourist destinations, so the general crime index may be a bit misleading. We'll all be careful and we'll keep as a group. Besides, my DD-10 is really pushy, demanding and nagging, so the bad guys would most likely run away anyway. : )

Thanks so much! i have been SO excited, and then i read some scary stuff and was like.. ARGH do i wanna do this? and i REALLY do!

i'm super excited! hahaha Life is moving in slow motion! hahaha

I'm trying to make time go faster..and not sit and watch the clock for the next week, so I am "helping" Lizzy dejunk the toy room... toys she has outgrown or no longer plays with or being donated, and broken toys are being trashed... it will be so much nicer! haha i am amazed at how much dress up she has that no longer fits.. i told her - now i know you dont have any so i can look for stuff that fits! hahah

Dave,

It sounds like our daughters will get along great, God love 'em!

So I'm reading through all of this and southwest isn't on the airline list and we are flying in southwest! We are having my mom pick us up Saturday at lax and staying the night at San Pedro. So we just take all of our stuff? And then tag before getting to te wonder on Sunday? When we arrive with my massive piles of luggage, will they take it all to our cabin for us? And then when leaving, we are waiting to set up transportation back. Not sure exactly what time we will get off the ship so figured we can catch a cab or a shuttle. How will it work with all of our luggage then? If we chose the Disney transportation would they take our luggage even though we aren't on the right airline? I should have figured all of this out before booking flights! Anything anyone can tell me would be a big help. This is my first cruise and my husbands first Disney cruise so we have no idea how all of this is going to work!

your job to get the luggage from LAX to the hotel (lol), whether shuttle, mom, or ?. From hotel, if hotel has shuttle, they will take luggage too. If you take a cab over to the port, the cab will pull up and porters will come running up. The porters will take your tagged bags (the porters have extra tags, if you don't have enough). The porters expect money, by the way, as they are NOt Disney employees.

Wave bye to the luggage; the next time you see it, it will be in your cabin. Keep a small bag with change of clothes if you want to go swimming, etc, while waiting for your bags to arrive in your room. Luggage arrives between 3-7 p.m. or later, I guess. Last time, one of our bags arrived very late.

the last night of the cruise, you will get directions to place your luggage out in the hallway with NEW tags (color coded to the time you have to be off ship). If no DCL transfer because of SW not being one of the airlines, you will pick up your luggage and do the exact opposite. Porters will come running and tote it for you through customs check, out to curb to wait for your cab/shuttle, etc. (again, they want money). I typically pay depending on how many bags I have. 1-2 bucks a bag I think is typical. I was so grateful when getting off the last cruise, I gave him a $20 and he bounced us to the front of the taxi line (very angry faces were watching us in Puerto Rico).

It will go smooth. What hotel in San Pedro?

thank you for that, i am feeling better now thanks to you! i can feel my panic leaving me now lol i had this image of my husband with all of the bags and it wasnt good! ive been trying so hard to pack light. i told him just today, he should be happy because i used to travel with half a suitcase of just shoes! ive down sized for sure since being a mom. so we will be staying at the doubletree. we fly in from nashville so we didnt want to chance a same day flight. i want to be at that ship as early as possible, one week and we will be in CA, so excited! printing out magnets now, this is all so much fun!

there's a shuttle from the doubletree, I think. Just have to ask at check-in. Check in goes for 5 hours so you have lots of time....plan on 11-1 arrival, time to explore the ship, eat lunch, meet at promenade lounge 2:30-3:30, boat drill and then off we go.

Randi got back to me the same day I emailed. My kids are 10 (her birthday that day) and 11. She said they were pretty booked up and having two trips that day. I'll email her right now and say there's some more from our group. Maybe she'll respond. I'll keep in touch or you can email me directly at dpomeranz@gmail.com.

Thanks,

Dave
Thanks Dave. I still haven't heard back. I guess I better look into something else. Does anybody know if there is another good company for horseback riding?
NOW If I had Denver that would be a TOTALLY different story - he is AMAZING at remembering things - Dog can remember where we parked in the parking lot at Disneyland when we get off the tram and take me RIGHT to the pasenger door - Crazy huh ?

I think it would be fun to post a page about whos going on what excursions so that we know whos going to be in our groups ....what does everyone think about that ???? anyone KNOW how to do that LOL ????:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Wow, what a smart dog!! That is neat how he can find his way.
Oh and I think a page on excursions would be great. I'm not sure how to do it though.

For those who might be interested, the following thread shows pictures of the Wonder as she transits trhough the Panama Canal.

Hi Darrcie and Everyone,

My name is Julie and I am very new to this board. Like...15 minutes new. Practically a zygote. I caught wind of you guys from a post on the DCL page on facebook and, though I know we're just a little over a week out, thought I would say hello.

Julie
Hi Julie, that was probably me that posted on that facebook page. I responded and asked if anybody was on this cruise and if so to check out the disboard to meet others like we did :-) Welcome, Glad you made it.
I'm Tonya. We have 2 boys. Jaren is 12 and Braden is 8. Where in Ca. do you live? We are in Fresno.
Restaurants in SAn Pedro - pre/post cruise.

restaurant.com has "certificates" for restaurants where you pay $10 and get a certificate/coupon worth $25 (usually you have to spend at least 35 bucks to use the coupon...who doesn't spent that at a restaurant....with more than 3 folks...)...anyway....rght now, can get the same thing, but spend like $4 to get the $25 if you use the coupon code "SPOON" at checkout. Over on cruisecritic, someone raved about the Brewhouse, the 22nd Avenue, Think, anyway...supposed to be good places to eat -- save your money for shore excursions!!

If anybody ever wants to order a certificate from Restaurant.com let me know. I have a website and I get paid if you order from my stores when people order. Thank you!! Still working on the site. Right now I have amazon, magazines, groupon, printable coupons, books, flowers, itunes and more. Sorry, hope it's okay to post that :confused3

:

I keep finding more and more things to remember to bring. BTW, thank you for the person who said something about zip ties. Sue
Just make sure you bring scissors to cut it down too. I don't think you can bring a knife.
My husband has been out of town, came back yesterday looked at my pile of FE's and said "Are you kidding me?" He blames you for this Tonya. :)

LOL.. oops sorry Kris. I know, Mike is like that too. Must be the cop thing.. lol Yeah, you should all feel safe with our hubbies protecting you.. :scared: lol

Cari,

We're really excited about it all too! And I forgot to tell you this before, but Steve and I are extra-qualified to lead you around Cabo because we had a blind Golden Retriever, Avalanche, and provided the same service for her! Of course she always took the lead and trusted us to steer her away from trouble. :cloud9:

Cheers,
Cheryl
