I'd join the NACBA if I knew what they'd do for me. So many organizations just want our money. I belong to all the CA family law organizations and I still don't know why. I was a card-carrying ABA member for years until I realized I don't need rental car discounts that much. Maybe I'm just anti-establishment!

Are you a NACBA organization type? Do you think it's worth it?

I LOVE that the police academy is in a dry town. My brother is a homicide detective in Colorado and I'd never want booze near him. Tell you how sheltered I am: I didn't know any dry towns still existed! But I don't drink, so I miss out on all the frustration of dry towns.

probably better for private discussion but joined NACBA and increased office income and provided better service for clients. I sue bad guys/debt collectors. Definitely the best decision I ever made (they even quote me on the membership brochure). We will talk onboard? ABA, I belong and get nothing. ABI, I belong and get nothing. several others just for the card. NACBA, I would pay twice over the dues just for the networking opportunities.

Alaska actually has dry and damp towns. In the "dry" towns, it's illegal to sell or possess any alcohol; in the "damp" towns is illegal to sell alcohol, although you're allowed to possess it. I hadn't known that such a thing existed, either, until I had to travel there for work about 10 years ago.

OK . . . all of this talk about different organizations (although I don't know what they are), makes me want to tell you about my disappointing experiences with organizations. The only 2 organizations I've ever wanted to join wouldn't have me :( When I was 20 the U.S. Navy said I was too fat, "loose weight and come back" is what they said. I'd also really love to be a free mason but they won't have me because I'm a woman  Ding-dang-it! What is a fat girl to do? :confused3

Aren't you a CTNW member?

Acronym purposely butchered to make you think, but if you can't figure it out I'm confident Ryan can/will!

I think Groucho Marx said : "I wouldn't join any group that would have me as a member!"

but you are the leader of our FE!! and you couldn't do that if you were off somewhere in the Navy.

I've been on 3 cruises before but all on Carnival and I thought I'd check out the packing tips on the DCL forum. Just FYI, here is a summary of the most often cited items to bring:

• A watch
• A journal
• A cup that holds a smidge more than the small cups provided at the beverage station
• night light for the bathroom
• a compact air freshener (also for the bathroom)
• over the door shoe holder for all the little things that would have been scattered all over the cabin and a pop-up hamper, kept in the closet for dirty clothes.
• clothes pin
• a digital clock
• suction cup hooks
• baggies- you can take snacks off the ship
• A highlighter to use with the Navigator
• travel size Downey Wrinkle Release
• a night light
• Dollar bills for room service tipping
• larger lidded cups for the drink station
• Another vote, for a little larger cup
• extra power strip (or two!) there's only two outlets that are easily accessible, one set of two on a desktop and another behind the tv. In their case, bring some kind of outlet strip. Especially the ones at the desk are very close to the top of it and won't allow anything much bigger than a regular plug.
• a few business cards with your name and email or face book for all the new friends
• Dollar Store rain ponchos
• small pair of scissors
• My own blow dryer. The one in the stateroom had zero power.
• sanitizing wipe
• zip tie for the fish extender, scissors to cut it down
• flashlight

One of the things I was wondering about were beach towels, as on Carnival you get one each in your stateroom and if you don't manage to hold onto it for a whole week they charge you $22. And believe it or not, people actually STEAL them from the pool area, so many people bring their own. So glad to hear that towels are not rationed on Disney!:rotfl:

Looking forward,
Cheryl

Hi Cari!

I wrote back to you on your direct email but didn't get an answer. I wanted you to know I responded!

No, we won't be bringing our guide dog puppy. Being a puppy in training isn't exactly the same as a guide dog or service dog (except here in Nevada!) I know the cruise ships all take guide dogs, but the puppy in training is probably a gray area. Keno is very likely going to be recalled while we are on the cruise -- January 29 is the next recall date. He'll be staying with his "other" family while we're gone. So we'll be empty nesters and might not see him again until he graduates with his new partner. But that would be a wonderful thing!

We are still available to escort you to the Cabo Wabo shindig if you like. And Sue can join in too!

Cheers,
Cheryl

Hi all
Cheryl you and your hubby and Sue can drag me around all you want - I promise I never relieve in Jacket do not pull on the leash often ( unless you tell me there is a hot guy somewhere ) and I will sit where you tell me to !!!
Is your pup coming on the cruise ? NOt too late and a good experience !!! If you are going to consider it ( I dont know what GDBs rules are ) let me know you can e mail me at COUNTRYGRL290 at aol dot com..... or find me on FB Cari Shields - I have a feeling GDB is more strict about you taking your pup on but I know DCL allows Guide and Service dogs that are from schools to go onboard. I can walk you thru the ins and outs of what you will need to get onboard not too much really
?

I can see by your picture that you're a very attractive young lady and the Navy was probably afraid none of the guys would pay attention to their duties while you were around! On the mason thing, I remember my auntie was in a women's auxillary group called Eastern Star. Although I don't have a clue what they did in their meetings. I know her daughter, my cousin, was in the girls' group Rainbow Girls and that seemed to mainly revolve around wearing formals. :confused3

I gotta say you all are the coolest people ever! We all need to go on the next cruise together! Jessica, the Navy's loss is our gain. Dont listen to those guys. However, if you'd still like to be a free mason, I have some masonary work to do in my back yard and don't want to pay anyone, so this is going to work out great.

I'm about to be on the "7 Nights to Obesity" program. I hear they have a "midnight dessert buffet." Did I just dream that? Such a miracle can't possibly exist in real life! Sorry... need a minute....tearing up here.....so happy.....Girls cry at weddings, I cry at dessert buffets.

Do you think Disney can make me a chocolate stateroom?

Dave,

To add to your program, they have a Pirate Night buffet on deck with desserts, nachos, and turkey legs. I can't imagine that anyone is actually hungry for it after dinner, but it all seems to get eaten anyways.

Hi Cheryl
Thats a bummer you will not get to see your dog off to advanced training but sometimes it is a blessing . I hope that he makes the program ! Have you raised before ? I cant WAIT to talk guide dogs with you and share my boy with you -
I know the laws differ but I asked about my pup in traning and was told yes - as long as someone besides me was able to handle him ( since I have Den ) it would be fine - She told me ( The special services lady ) that they do allow pups in traning from SCHOOLS ( no owner trains ) were allowed and had to learn too ! I dont think they were allowed off the ship in ports though

I have a friend whos going to GDB in Oregon as soon as they have a match :-) I will be getting my sucessor from GDD as I like a smaller school and 2 of my trainers from GDA went there and re vamped the program

SORRY EVERYONE I know boring talk - but for Cheryl and I would disagree LOL :yay::yay:

we are SO close now ! Thanks for the list of packing stuff

Sounds like a blast. We'll be quite the rollicking group!party:
Hopefully afterward Cari will be able to lead us all back to the ship.:drinking1:tilt::faint:

How long did it take for Randi to get back to you guys about the horses? I have sent 2 emails and nothing yet. Anybody else want to try for me? 4 of us. Our boys are 12 and 8.

Randi got back to me the same day I emailed. My kids are 10 (her birthday that day) and 11. She said they were pretty booked up and having two trips that day. I'll email her right now and say there's some more from our group. Maybe she'll respond. I'll keep in touch or you can email me directly at dpomeranz@gmail.com.

Thanks,

Dave

Okay, I need to know what's happening to me. I spent almost two hours printing t-shirt transfers and magnets this morning. I've never done such a thing before for a cruise, and I haven't made customer t-shirts since STTNG's second movie (which I still have).

Any one else doing magnets for their doors? I'm doing a generic t-shirt for our cruise.

As for Randi, I just emailed her, but in the past she's gotten back to me in a day or two. I've also asked how she plans on breaking up the group since she has so many riders.

Kris

Hi all
Hope everyone is having a good Wed . - Denver and I are in L,A, with Amber and her family this week getting ready for the cruise and getting FE stuff together .
Sue we will totally rock !!!!:cool1: but no banking on me getting us all back to the ship with a cane LOL NOW If I had Denver that would be a TOTALLY different story - he is AMAZING at remembering things - Dog can remember where we parked in the parking lot at Disneyland when we get off the tram and take me RIGHT to the pasenger door - Crazy huh ?

I think Wendi Might pass on the riding with Randi so let me ask her and see - if thats the case then someonoe can have her spot - I have her and I reserved - Im still planning on riding .
I think it would be fun to post a page about whos going on what excursions so that we know whos going to be in our groups ....what does everyone think about that ???? anyone KNOW how to do that LOL ????:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
