Disney Wonder Jan 23, 2011

Whew - I need to keep better track of these boards LOL sooooo much going on over the weekend I LOVE IT !
Welcome Stephanie :-) our group seems to be growing and growing !
I am SO thankful that someone posted the kids sail free offer :-) Now my friends Rick and Amber and their Kids Sean and Gemma and guide dog Hamlett can also join us ! WOOP WOOP ! We have them booked in a cat 10b gty and they are still deciding but will most likely be joining us too !!! We will find out by the 18th ! I hope they come I think they will LOVE disney cruise and everyone on the boards ! The kids will be 1 and 2 at the time of sailing and they DO want to do the FE as well ... They have a few special dietary requests for the kids though for the FE basically no candy - they cant have anything with dye in it like red dye or yellow number 5 etc. it makes Sean WILD lol !!! Hamlett has the same restrictions as Denver no rawhide no pig ears or cow hooves - all that to follow if they book :-) which is almost a positive
I cant WAIT to meet everyone ! oh im SO excited ! Im pretty sure I will be making FEs for me and Wendi And Ashley and Aaron ( if they do the FE ) and Rick and Amber so I will be one busy bee ! I love to make them though !
I want to go to WOC so bad but it seems so much of a hassle to get into so im going to wait till it is here for a while ! or go on a day after kids are back in school
Jessica - Im in Temecula wine country :-)
I forgot what else I was going to say was just so excited that everyone is coming in my group aqnd that we have more new cruisers on the board !
OH I KNOW a group name - I love the idea - anyone got suggestions ???? I will look around and see what i can come up with also who is handy with graphic design ?

Cari - I'm so excited that your friends might be joining us! Once you confirm them for sure I will add all of their info to the FE list and stuff.

Question: Are you and Denver, wendi, +2 in separate rooms? Can you please let me know who is where, and also what her daughter and daughter's boyfriend's names are? I will also need the cabin numbers for the FE list when you have them!

Also, I do have a facebook page but I'm not on it very often. I will definitely look you up though! :thumbsup2 Anyone here can feel free to look me up and add me as a friend as well. I'm under Jessica McIntosh (Van Buren) or you can find me by email: mrsjeccamcintosh@yahoo.com

Karen - :welcome:

We are SO HAPPY to have all of you joining us! I replied to your private message - you have all been updated on pg. 2 of this string and on the website! If you'd like to update the other info I PM'd you about let me know! Pictures can be emailed to me at mrsjeccamcintosh@yahoo.com

Cari - I took the liberty of posting your pictures of Denver to the website. I hope that's OK! :thumbsup2 If not, let me know and I will remove them.

I had a busy day of fundraising for our Relay for Life team. I actually got a sunburn today which is unheard of in my neck of the woods.

Emma was so cute as she sweet talked me into telling her more about the Mickey Boat after her bedtime story tonight. She was so excited that the Wonder had a preschool instead of a kids' club (new folks, it's an old story you can find several pages ago).

She also liked the fact that since she will be just a few weeks away from being five years old, she will be one of the older kids in the Oceaneer Lab's 3-4yo group. You could just see the gears turning in her little noggin as she told me how she would be taller and older than most kids in there and if there were any kids in there that were scared, she would tell them it's okay because she remembers being scared before.

She also really liked the idea of the "teachers" coming to the restaurant to pick the kids up and take them to "school". We will see how that all works out. That reminds me, I still need to have our TA switch us to late dining...

Jessica - I'm so happy to hear WOC was excellent. I was a little worried about it being a letdown after all the hype. Now we really need to make sure we see it in September. There is no way I want to wait until January. I'll check out your updated site tomorrow.

I also like the idea of a name/theme/graphic for our cruise. I'm not a very creative person but I'll see if I can come up with anything. We can always include something about being a chatty group or that it's a Mexico or west coast sailing. We can also include something about 1-2-3 since it's a 1/23 sailing. I don't know. I'll leave it to the pros! ;)

Cari - I hope your friends can join us. Once you tell them how awesome your cruisemates are, they won't be able to say no! :3dglasses

I really like Temecula. My wife's aunt and uncle used to live there and we visited a lot. We really wanted to buy a house there when we lived in Escondido but the cost of housing was going up a lot faster than our incomes were!

I check FB every day but don't post a lot. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I couldn't find you or Jessica. I found six people with your name Cari but there were no pictures of dogs. You can find me by searching my screen name (airtime247) @suddenlink.net as my name is pretty common.

Karen - Welcome to the group too! It's great to see our cruise growing so quickly all of a sudden. My DD will love that there are so many kids joining us now.

I see your screen name is so_oregon so I've got to ask, do you live in Southern Oregon and if so, whereabouts? We live near Eureka, on the California coast about 90 miles south of the Oregon border. We love it up in Gold Beach and Medford/Ashland. Great FE by the way!

Steve
Is Emma's birthday during the cruise? I have some stuff for her birthday and I thought if her birthday was while we were on board I would give it to her on the special day.

I am not going to even pretend to catch up. We ARE the chatty group! :cool1:
Welcome to our group to those that have joined us or are planning to join us & it is sad to see some go but at least it is another cruise.
A few things from me:
Remember our conversation about the DCL going to Hawaii????
Check this out! :surfweb: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2487253 I am going to read the article myself but thought I would share before I get lost in it.
I had a busy weekend but it should be the last one I have to work in a few months. It gets so crazy with part time work but 2 different jobs. But I keep telling Jeff, "It is at least a little more $$ than what we had before." Looks like more $$ to save for Hawaii!

It looks like everyone is getting in line with our FE's. I know I am starting to worry a little about finding just the right things. But then that is me. I always worry. :upsidedow I am wondering if there is a way to keep track of things we need to avoid with some of us. I know I am debating going through and start writing notes on everyone. I would hate to get something that wouldn't be good.

Jessica-Thank you so much for the tips with WOC. I have a question for you. Were there many parents putting their kids up on their shoulders? It drives me crazy. I'm 5'7" but I can't see around a guy that is 6"+ with his older kid up on his shoulders! Alec is pretty tall so he should be OK. Also, was the cast member I talked to correct...were they "patrolling" to not allow sitting down?

Sorry everyone we are leaving Friday AM to our annual Father's Day vacation @ Disneyland & I want to be prepared as possible.

You are all welcome to add me on facebook but I mainly go in to play Farmville. SueTGGR@AOL.com I have a pic of Alec and Stitch. Note that you are on the cruise & I will accept!

OK, off to read the article & get ready for Friday.

I will jump in now & then but I may not post until we get back around the 25th.

OH, Jessica...I switched our seating to late. Were we going to see about getting some of together at the same table? pirate:
Later,
Sue

Hey Cathy, that's very nice of you. No, unfortunately she won't be turning five until mid-February but we are milking this trip for all we can. Any extra magic we can get out of Disney will make her trip that much more special. We will most likely have the servers celebrate it on a night that doesn't have a special theme or show.

We were in WDW last January celebrating her birthday and her BFF's (from December) and they wore their Happy Birthday buttons the whole trip and got so much attention from CMs. We would love to recreate that for her.

It's not exactly a sweet sixteen but we'll just call it her sweet cinco! :woohoo:

Steve: YES I think seeing WOC in September is a FABULOUS idea! We liked it so much we are going back on Saturday to see it again before our passes expire!

The only thing I could think of so-far was trying to tie Jose (from the original Tikki room) to the cruise because he says, "my siesta's are getting shorter and shorter". It's the only thing "Mexican" that I know of at Disney (except for the Mexico Pavillion) - problem is I could not take or find a picture of Jose good enough to make a graphic out of. Plus, I wouldn't know what the catch phrase could be. I though "7 night Siesta", but I think that's kind of lame. I hadn't thought of tying to use "west coast" or "1-2-3", and I think those are great possibilities! :thumbsup2 I will keep thinking on it. Does anyone else have an idea or suggestion?!?

It looks like everyone is getting in line with our FE's. I know I am starting to worry a little about finding just the right things. But then that is me. Sue: I'm right there with you! I have NO IDEA what to do for everyone, and I worry that it won't be "good enough". I'm just going to keep telling myself that it's just for fun and everyone will love anything I do!

Regarding the list of restrictions and things for FE's - it's funny you mention that because I was thinking about that very thing last night! What do you think about me adding an "FE restriction" to the Characters of wonder page for each person (or guide dog). If by chance there are restrictions I can have it say FE "YES" and just under that have the word "Restrictions". Should that person have a restriction it will take you to a page that tells you what it is. OR, I can just include it on the same page as the chart. OR, I can have a completely different chart listing everyone's name/cabin number and their FE restriction. What do you think??? Does anyone else have thoughts on this too?? (A list might be easier, or keeping it list-style with the existing chart might be easier, because then you wouldn't have to write it all down.
For instance, if someone is going FE shopping they can just print the list and have everything in front of them). ... What do you think? :confused3

Jessica-Thank you so much for the tips with WOC. I have a question for you. Were there many parents putting their kids up on their shoulders? It drives me crazy. GOOD QUESTION! :teacher:
YES - they were doing that and it was SO ANNOYING! There were security guards walking around telling parents that they had to take their kids down, and it worked a little. However, there are those stubborn people who picked their kids right back up! The problem was that security wasn't exactly 'heavy', so although they did patrol, over the course of 2 hours we only heard from the security guard 3 or 4 times.

With sitting - people are allowed to sit, set blankets out, and save seats during the "waiting" for the show. Many, many, many people had blankets and were taking up large areas and spaces. It is during the show that you are not allowed to sit down. And yes, the security officers were patroling during the show as well. However, people sitting wasn't really an issue. The issues were people wanting to get higher (not lower), so kids on shoulders, standing on the walls, etc were the problems.

Here's an example of people sitting and the crowd (about an hour and a half before show-time).

Sorry everyone we are leaving Friday AM to our annual Father's Day vacation @ Disneyland & I want to be prepared as possible.

Sue: Will you be at Disneyland on Saturday?!?!? Ryan and I decided we're going back 1 last time before our passes expire, so we will be there ALL DAY on Saturday! If you will be there and want to get together shoot me an email (mrsjeccamcintosh@yahoo.com) or feel free to text or call me (951-219-8434)! :cheer2:

Yanira: Did you say you guys are going on Sunday, right? I was just thinking maybe we could all get together - but now I think I remember you saying Sunday. Let us know!

OH, Jessica...I switched our seating to late. Were we going to see about getting some of together at the same table? pirate

Sue: AWESOME! I will update your info on the chart.

Cross Referencing Dining Sue, I mentioned this a few weeks ago and no one responded. I know that I would LOVE to cross reference my dining with some (or ALL) of you! In a post a couple of weeks ago I explained how we would have to have each other's booking numbers in order to arrange this, but that I could try and call Disney with one big list and see if they would allow me to arrange all of it at once. I said for anyone who wants to do that to email me their booking number, but no one did. :sad1: Maybe people are leery about giving our their booking number? :confused3 I don't know. I'm comfortable with it if anyone else would prefer to take on the task (but I would still have to have at least 1 person's info because our booking is through DVC, and only the DVC member can access the booking through them).

As a side note, I called Disney to ask them if they would allow 1 person to arrange this or if each person had to call in an "approval" to add a dining cross-reference to their reservation. Disney said this: 1 person can call in the list of booking numbers, however, that person must have the reservation #, 1 adult full name on the booking and that adult's DOB in order to get access to link the dining tables together. Also, there is the issue of me and Ryan using our DVC points, so Disney said that we would have to call into DVC and not the cruise line in order to get us linked. The good news is that she said we can take 1 cabin (for instance, mine) and link it to everyone's booking. In doing that, everyone else will be linked together too! :woohoo: It sounds easy enough, everyone would just need to be willing to give up their booking # and above info in order to get this done. If anyone wants to do this - I'm totally in! :thumbsup2 You can send me an email or a private message with your personal details and I will get it arranged! :yay:

Maybe I will give her birthday gifts on the first night, just to start her sweet cinco birthday:yay:

You are too sweet Cathy. Thanks! She will love it!

I just got Emma to bed after a five minute story and 45 minutes of answering questions about the Mickey boat. I told her what I could remember about the characters that were supposed to come like Belle reading to them and Snow White teaching them the Seven Dwarfs dance. Now she wanted to know what the other Princesses would be teaching them. I couldn't remember if any others came but she got pretty creative. She said Cinderella would be there to teach them to sing, Ariel would give them swim lessons, Tiana would teach them to cook, and Mulan would show them how to wear makeup. I forgot what the others were but she had something for all nine Princesses as well as Giselle from Enchanted.

Jessica - I don't know if I mentioned it but we'd love to link dining with the group. Rather than dining with complete strangers, we'd prefer to dine with friends who are completely strange. pirate:

I say we can start to gather a list and maybe post it to the site but we shouldn't try getting a hold of Disney until maybe October or November until we can get a final list. We would hate to put you through calling them every other week as someone joins or wants to be taken off for whatever reason. We will also need to keep in mind if we get a number larger than eight, they will most likely need to split us up. I see we have a couple of bigger groups joining us. They can link dining if they want to make sure they are on the same rotation and hopefully near the other tables but still sit with their friends and family.

I asked Amy to email our TA to move us to late dining but I don't know if she had a chance to do that today. Consider it done though so the next time you update the page, please go ahead and change us to late dining.

I don't really know of very many Mexican Disney references besides the Three Caballeros, Epcot's Gran Fiesta Tour (or as Emma calls it, the Donald Duck Boat Ride), and Jose from the Tiki Room now that you mention it. I had forgotten about him. I think Saludos Amigos is South American, right?!? :confused3

I think it's a great idea to keep a list somewhere of what we can't give out for FE, especially for the dogs and kids. We've never given out food items so it hasn't been an issue for us as of yet. I think I will skim the pages and take notes of people's likes and dislikes to help me get ideas. I only have a couple of FE ideas but they aren't that great.

-steve

Steve,

I absolutely LOVE hearing the stories about Emma! :upsidedow She sounds so precious and so BRIGHT!

I agree on the dining thing, calling closer to the sailing is a good idea. Less confusing that way. Those people who booked through a travel agent will need to call their agent with 1 cabin's info in order to set up the cross reference (just FYI). Only the TA can make updates to the ressie, you couldn't even call Disney yourself even though it's YOUR booking!

OMG - 3 Caballero's - I completely forgot about them! Ryan loves them! :rotfl2: But - I still don't know - I have no ideas! :scared1:

I am in Klamath Falls, about an hour east of medford/Ashland...high desert, which means it just hit 75 yesterday and is still frosty at night. I camped in Eureka alot when we lived in Redding, Ca. Tabi and Noah live with me; Alex is in Portland, Joanna and her crew are in Vancouver, Wa, and then Jessica and her crew are in SF lower bay area. kinda scattered around.

We have ONE room number: 8000, right next to the wings for captain on the ship....the kids are all in 9 GTY (the 10s and 11s were gone, gone, gone by the time Dreams Unlimited got back to me). :sad2::sad2::sad2:

Awww, man, I just found out I booked the wrong date! we are sailing on the 30th instead of the 23rd, I goofed and booked the wrong date....my cat 9 is not available for this cruise, so looks like we are jumping ship to the 30th date. Have a wonderful cruise and see ya when you get off;)

Sorry to hear that :(, but, I'm sure you'll have fun on your sailing. :sail: I have removed you from our FE list and website.

Hello everyone. I think I joined the thread way back when there were only a few but haven't been back. Just saw the Kids free offer and am hoping my TA will be redoing our reservation to get this offer.

My family will be a group of 20, 3 generations. My Parents and Aunt and Uncle. My sister and her family (twins age 8) My family (kids 11,13) my 2 cousins and their families (kids 11,13,14,17). This will be my 5th cruise and the second time all 20 of us have sailed together. I live in New York, while all the rest are in PA.

I am the planner/organizer for our group, and the only one on these boards. Right now some of us are flying in Friday morning and going to visit Hollywood/Beverly Hills Friday and then do Universal Saturday. We will rent cars and then Sunday morning plan to return them to the airport and take Super Shuttle to the Port.

For excursions we hope to do the Zipline but that is all I have figured out so far. We all enjoy the water and the cold won't bother us so we will likely do something in the water one day. Any suggestions from anyone would be great.

We are doing late seating. Last Aug. I did a Mom's only 3 night cruise (got the Bounce back $99 offer) and did late seating for the very first time. I LOVED it!!! I felt like we had so much more time everyday not having to rush to get ready for dinner. Plus we have seen the shows so we won't likely go to all of those again.

The months of planning and finding out all I can for a trip is a lot of the fun for me. I am sure this group will add to that fun!

Welcome aboard:banana: Glad to see someone else from the east coast.
