Welcome friends. This is the thread for the Wonder 2/12/17 Cruise. This Will be our first cruise. It will be myself (30), my wife(27), my daughter(5) and my sister (26). We are celebrating my daughters 5th birthday on the cruise. Her birthday is on the 15th. I believe we will be in Nassau that day.
We are all very excited. we would like to get a fish extender gift exchange going. Since this is our first cruise if there is someone who could help with this thread, that has been on a cruise and has participated in a gift exchange, I would greatly appreciate it. We are looking forward to making some new friends.

Welcome to DISboards and Disney cruising.

Now that you've got your thread started, you should copy the URL at the top of the page and head over to the "Find your 2017 Wonder Cruise Meet LINK here" thread and post a request to have your link added to the first (directory) post. Be sure to paste the copied URL in the request post.

That way others looking for your Cruise Meet thread can find it easily.

Awesome thanks. and I read the policy before I created the thread. I won't be linking this thread to any other website.

Hi,

We hope to have this cruise booked by the end of the week. We will be a party of 3- my DH and DS (who will turn 5 the day before we leave). Hoping DS really enjoys the kid's club!

Nztara, that is great that your son is the same age as my daughter. Have you been on a Disney cruise before? everyone in my family is looking forward to this. I hope we get a few more people on here with in the next few months. My wife and I would really like to do a fish extender gift exchange. looking forward to seeing you on the ship!

USMC85, We have not been on a Disney cruise. DH and I have been on another cruise line, but now that we are parents, we thought we would try Disney. I'm looking forward to it! I am in for a fish extender exchange as well. I haven't been able to locate any others for this sailing yet, but hopefully they will appear as the date gets closer!

I'm so ready for a vacation that I've got the countdown clock going. I can't wait for it to break the 300 day mark. I know it's a long way to go, but it's something to look forward to enjoying as we celebrate my son's birthday next year! See you on the ship!

I am in for a fish extender exchange as well.

I know it's a little early for setting up the Fish Extender group (generally 6-8 months out is good to get things going), but here's a little info I've put together for anyone interested in setting up a group here on DISboards:
SETTING UP A FE GROUP
There really are no “rules” as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone will step up and say “I’ll maintain the list”. This means they maintain the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/ favorite character/ favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know in order to create the gifts. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE group. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

The easiest, most private way to handle the information necessary to prepare the list (many people prefer not to put sensitive information on a public forum), is to use the “Conversation” feature here. There needs to be at least two people to start a conversation. Only the starter of the conversation (usually the organizer) can add additional people into the conversation (as long as they do NOT select “Allow anyone in the conversation to invite others” at the bottom of the reply window). Then when new people express a desire to join, usually by just saying “we want to join the FE”, the organizer can add them by clicking on the “Invite more” button in the “Conversation Participants” window (lower right of conversation page). Only those people participating in the conversation can see what’s posted there, and respond there. I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations that don’t have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test Board to post and up your post count. http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

At some point the list will “close”. Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will post the list, either directly on the Cruise Meet thread, OR via private conversation, or, possibly, via e-mails. This is to confirm everyone on the list is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about “anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped” at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as they reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a “pixie dust” list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their “final” list. Be sure the “pixie dust” list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

The other “biggie” is no other social media sites are allowed to be linked or search directions posted as to how to find that other site here on DISboards. Please read this: http://www.disboards.com/threads/im...uise-meet-and-fish-extender-programs.3353477/

Hope that helps.

Just booked this cruise online today and I'm so excited! I have only participated in a FE group one other time and really enjoyed it! Though we are two adults, it is still fun to give stuff to the other adults and kids on board, and get a lot of cool stuff in return! Looking forward to it!!!

Welcome alltwelve. We are glad to have you here. If you have any suggestions about the FE group, I am open to any ideas. This will be our first Disney cruise and my wife really wanted to get into a group, so I started this one. looking forward to any ideas. thanks.

We are go for this cruise. We are a family of four: Jeff, Missy, Catherine (24), and Sarah (12). This will be my 14th Disney cruise, at the time of sailing it will be almost 15 years since last sailing on the Wonder. It was a honeymoon cruise after being married at the Wedding Pavilion, Grand Floridian on 7/1/2002. Very excited about the 6 week drydock that will add many new features to the Wonder.

This is a special cruise for my youngest daughter. She will turn 13 on the 13th (2/13). We will be celebrating her birthday and her Grand Slam status. Sarah has been on the Magic 6 times, Dream once, and Fantasy 3 times. Sailing on the Wonder for her first time will complete sailing on all four ships known in DCL vernacular as the "Grand Slam" and it will be her first sailing as a Castaway Club Platinum Member.

We would be interested in the FE, Stateroom #7590

Jeff

Good Day All :wave2:

We just flipped to this cruise off the Magic which we were going to sail out of Miami. Decided we did not want to waste the time it would take to drive from Port Canaveral to Port of Miami on the 12th since we would be coming off the Wonder that day. Due to some unexpected travel and booking circumstances we were originally doing 2 days at WDW / 3 night Wonder / 5 night Magic. The Magic was the original trip until business brings me to Orlando on the 5th so instead of flying home on the 7th decided to stay for a quick WDW fix and then catch the re-imagined Wonder prior to our Magic cruise. Just yesterday it worked out that we were able to adjust other things so we could move back to the Wonder and do a clean BTB.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and a Wonderful cruise :bounce:

Booked! The FE would be fun to participate in! I've done it a few times so let me know if you'd like some assistance!

Hey everyone! Super excited for this cruise! My daughter (who will be celebrating her 4th birthday) and I have been on 2 Disney cruises but this one is special because my husband will finally be able to join us and see why we are so crazy about it! Our daughter LOVES the kids club and my hubs is excited to check out the adults only section of the boat. We are pretty avid cruisers ( 4 in the last 2.5 years total) and we'd love to participate in the FE exchange again. Who is maintaining the list?

Hi Everyone! We just booked our cruise! This is our third Disney Cruise! We participated in the FE on our last cruise, and we really enjoyed it! There are four of us in our party! Me (31), husband (31), and twin boys (3). We are excited!

Welcome Aboard !

We can't wait to see the changes that are being made in dry dock. Have been watching the info threads and know there will be lots of great upgrades. Do hate to see Parrot Cay go away but will do our best to enjoy Tiana's as much.

Hello,
Yes please this will be our first FE so any advice you have is much appreciated.
Thank you

Hello Everyone!

Welcome!! This will be our FIRST Disney Cruise and I look forward to meeting everyone.
Not sure how this all works but I will do my best to get things in order. Reading on how to start a FE group I need to Maintain a List to help us get started Last names/ages/room number/ favorite character/ favorite color/allergies will be requested to help us get the ball rolling. I will be creating a conversation if you would like to be added to this please let me know. By doing this it will help me get organized for our FE list.
If anyone has any suggestions on the FE group your input is greatly appreciated.
I look forward to hearing from everyone.
Thank you in advance,
:tinker:Ashley (wife of USMC85)
