Precruise:
We drove to Cocoa Beach and stayed at the Radisson at the Port Friday and Saturday night. Friday night we went to Kelsey's for dinner. As we left I spotted 3 ladies in lime green t-shirts that said they were part of Verandah Man's crew. Introduced myself and was pointed to the pool area where I was to meet Verandah Man and the rest of his family as well as Moosysmom. DIS meet! I also meet Shirley. Nice to meet and put some names to faces.
Saturday I took my DH to Kennedy Space Center. No way you can do this place justice with one day. Going to have to go back for a weekend. Unfortunately the tour I wanted to do was unavailable (Cape Canaveral Then and Now) but I had recieved a call from their coordinator for guests with disabilities letting know this earlier in the week so I wasn't surprised ( I had set up this tour with interpreters earlier) At the Center when we got our tickets they immediately set up a tour for us to go on the bus tour. Since there is only one spot on each lift bus for a wheelchair this must be set up if you will be remaining in your wheelchair. If you can walk up the steps, then you can take any bus and there will be wheelchairs for your use at each stop.
Everything is accessible. I also was given a card that requested that the tvs be captioned as well as the shows that I just showed to the appropriate person. Only once did I need to wait for the next show as the show had already started and they could not turn on the captions once the show has started.
Only frustration was an usher at the IMAX Theatre who was not pleased to have to deal with the need for reflective captioning as well as a wheelchair. She was rather nasty and didn't realize I could clearly speech read her comments. It was a fun day but we really needed more time. The main center could take a day itself and then a day for the tour and the museum.
