Highlights:
The entire cast signing the Mickey Mouse Club goodbye in the atrium the last night. WOW!
Spa Massage
Disney Dreams
The interpreters, Angela, Vince, Marvin, and Theresa The best!
Getting my hair braided.
Ali, Gurkan and Gyorgy my wait staff
Upgrade to a porthole room

Lowlights:
Lack of desserts that I could have. Fresh fruit is ok but I would have liked to have some real desserts like everyone else. Diabetic desserts were all made with nutrasweet which I am allergic to.
Flies, flies and more flies at the Beach Blanket Buffet in port for lunch. Nasty!
Lack of access at Castaway Cay.

While you can get onto the island it is a long way to push a manual wheelchair even to the family beach. No way at all I could see to get to the adult beach. They do have beach wheelchairs but if you can't easily get to them what is the purpose.
While I could move from the wheelchair to the tram if I wanted they don't give you any help or any time to do this. If I had brought my power wheelchair things might have been better but still it would be a long walk for my husband to get to the adult beach.
It is a 4 minute walk to the tram and an 8 minute walk to the family beach area.
I was quite disappointed.

Reading your reports (which I have enjoyed and learned from BTW :) ) I really felt for your DH and you on CC. The sun can be so hot and you don't want to waste all of your energy getting to the beach, you want to save some to have fun when you get there. I wish you could have relaxed on the beach for the day, but it sounds as though the two of you were "spent". I wonder if the CM's could have handled it differently (the tram driver for instance?). Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Thank you for your reply Talkinghands.

If anyone reads this post and is able to give me a first hand comparison between Disney quality and Carnival Triumph quality I would love to read about it.

Great trip report!

Glad you had a great time. Sorry about the disappointment at CC. I'm surprised Disney didn't have a method to assist you to the adult beach. Just a suggestion, maybe a letter to Disney pointing out this problem? CC is such a wonderful place..everyone should be able to enjoy the beach!

Interesting comments about the iterperters working very hard to prepare for the evening show, as emotion plays a large part in their performances. One of our favorite events at WDW is the Candlelight Processional at Epoct. The music, voices, lighting are all wonderful, but the person who brings it all together for us is the woman who signs the performance. We can't take our eyes off of her..she puts so much emotion into it that you can actually feel the words she is signing. Have you had the opportunity to see this show?

Again, glad you had a great cruise. We cruise 11/30 on the Wonder for 4 days. We too will dock at Freeport...wish we had a day at sea instead....

Thanks again!

Moon,

I can understand the difficulty at CC, but DCL is unique in where it docks directly at the island, most other cruise lines with stops at private islands, you have to teather in.. which would probably be more difficult.

I haven't been on the Triumph, but have been on other Carnival cruises, and I would say DCL wins hands down. Carnival is party central, a lot different atmsosphere--a little louder, more like being at a las Vegas casino or a night club. I like DCL because it's got the old, classy ocean liner style... and it's more relaxed.

Staterooms are larger on DCL then on Carnival... considerably larger.

I thought food was better on DCL as well as service then on Carnival. I have sailed several different lines and would rank them as follows:

1)DCL
2)RCCL (Voyager class)
3)Holland America
and a distant 4th..... Carnival.

I haven't sailed anything since DCL though---and I won't ever go back to Carnival. I might try RCCL or Holland America again, but more to see new ports.
