Disney Wonder 10/26/14 - Western Caribbean

We are considering this Cruise for hubby, me, 6 year old and 1 year old. can you tell me where you are staying or where to stay te night before and how to get to the port on the 26th?

hello everyone, this will be my family's first Disney cruise, we are all very excited. It will be my husband and 4 year old daughter plus a good friend of ours.

I've heard a little bit about the fish exchanges but would like to know more information. It does sound like fun.

Hi there, welcome
I'm going to start off with we used priceline, expedia, trip advisor and cruise critic to search for hotels, that is a hard one for us. we are still trying to figure that one out. we have a reservation but we keep looking. we are/were hoping to find a hotel that offered free shuttle service to the port of Miami, however those choices are very limited. so we keep looking at others and pricing getting a shuttle or taxi.

really it all boils down to what matters most to you. ratings, price, location

hope some of this helps

Welcome aboard.. well sorta lol I will try to give you as much info about the fish extenders (fe's) as I can and hopefully it's not to confusing or overwhelming.

It starts by finding your cruising buddies, which you have done :) so good job you can also join our fb page Here is our link to the facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1453159034910563/
You can join our chatter there and sign up for the FE group

if you are not into facebook you don't have to join there I am willing to put together a group here on the disboards but so far everyone is all over on fb.

next you purchase or make your actual fish extender. it is some sort of hanging pockets that you will hang outside your stateroom on the fish message clip thingy ( technical terms lol) you can get super creative, professional, simple, intricit whatever you are comfortable with.

then you just have to decide what you are going to give for your gifts. you will have a list of stats on everyone in your list including names, cabin #, gender, ages, favorite characters and favorite colors. your gifts can be store bought or homemade. you can choose to give one gift per person, only give to kids, just a cabin gift (generally includes something for the whole family), cabin gift and individual gifts.... really just whatever you want and are comfortable doing. there are tons of boards here on dis boards and on facebook that are helpful for ideas and sometimes even links to purchase anything fe related. pinterest also has tons of ideas available.

the MOST important thing to remember is to have fun and again only do what you are comfortable with. if you stress about it to much it can take all the fun out of it and turn it into work. but be careful cause weather you do store bought gifts or homemade or a combination it can get expensive fast.

hope this helps. glad to have you on the cruise

Thanks so much, I have requested to be a member of the Facebook page, I'm just waiting for approval.

On average how many families do each person get. For example coming up with a couple dozen wouldn't be bad but having to so hundreds could cause an issue.

Thanks

I see you are on the FB page so I know you will get all your questions answered there but I will answer here anyway.
The way she has it set up on the FB page is you request how many staterooms you want to do and she gives you a list accordingly. That way you are in control of how many gifts you want to give. The smallest list so far is 10and some people have requested 20 staterooms. It is all up to you.
I'm glad to see you on the FB page and look forward to getting to know you.

Hi all!

I am awaiting acceptance into the FB page for this cruise, and I will most likely use that more that this page, but until then...here I am :)

My husband and I wanted to plan a 10th anniversary trip that the whole family could enjoy. In addition, we needed a vacation where we would feel comfortable with the options regarding our middle child's severe food allergies. We have never been on a cruise before, and everyone said that Disney does it right, so we just put down our deposit yesterday. Just reading through some of the comments - I have a lot to learn before October!

We will be cruising with our 2 sons (they will be 7 and 5 at the time of cruise) and our daughter (who will be 1).

I look forward to getting to know all of you!
:) Sarah

Welcome. I hope to see you soon on the FB page. They are quite chattie on there, we are all so excited it fun to talk with people who are planning the same things as you are.
There are other anniversaries and wedding being planned on our cruise.
I'll be watching for you on the FB and look forward to getting to know you.

Thanks so much, Sue! I'm still waiting for the FB page...but getting more and more excited each day! By October I'll be bursting! ;) Is there a separate page for FEs for our cruise?

I will try to PM the administer for the FB page and let her know you are waiting. I don't believe she checks everyday.
Once you are on FB they have lists going according to how many staterooms you want. Just post you want to participate and Crystal will get your info and set you up.

The administer PMed me that she does not have any unaccepted requests. You may want to check to see if you were accepted without realizing it or send another request.
I am looking forward to seeing you on FB also.

Hello Everyone!
This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise (Magic 2011), and this time we are super excited to participate in the FE.
I will be traveling with my husband and my 7 year old identical twin girls :ccat:. They are very excited to do a Halloween cruise since last time we did a Christmas cruise. I've signed up for the Facebook page, just waiting to be added!

That's strange! I just checked again, and I have not been accepted. It just gives me the option to "Cancel request." I will go ahead and cancel and then ask to join again...

Greetings! Our family (me, DH and our four boys (2, 4, 7 and 11)) is looking forward to our first cruise in October! Wondering if anyone has cruised around this time of the year and can let us know what to expect. Will check out the FB page and FE soon.

Hi! This is our first cruise, so I didn't realize that people did all this BEFORE even getting on board! I've fun reading and planning some blogs, and we/re collecting costumes for Pirate Night :)
We're a group of 4, Mom, Dad, and our 2 very blond daughters, age 3 & 6.
Looking forward to the trip and all the magic!

Welcome. Do check out the FB page that is where everyone is getting to know each other and you can sign up for the FE there, just contact Crystal she is the one taking care of the FE group. It is a very active FB page so I'm sure you will enjoy it.
My son and daughter in law also have 4 boys going on the cruise. They are ages 11, 6, 4 and 3. Will your boys be in the clubs? I know ours will be, its hard to get them out of there. :goodvibes

Welcome. I think you may be on the FB page now, if not there is another family with two very blond girls that just joined :goodvibes. If you haven't joined the FB page you might want to, most everyone is chatting on there and it is very friendly. That is where you can also sign up for the FE group. And yes planning for the cruise can be a bit overwhelming if you let it but its lots of fun.
Look forward to "meeting" you

Our family will be taking our first Disney Cruise with you all! We are so excited. Just trying to gather all the tips so we are well prepared. Our daughter will turn 9 the day after we get back and our son will be 5! We will also be joined by both sets of grandparents. Interested in any and all advice!

My family will be taking our first Disney Cruise in October as well. There are only 3 of us. My son will be 11 at the time. We will all be celebrating our birthdays within a month of the cruise and my husband and I will celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary as well. Looking forward to meeting lots of new people. We hope the weather is good. I am super excited!:yay:
