Disney Withdrawal

As a major Disney fan I have been able to have two vacations a year at WDW the past few years...but last year at this time my colleagues at work started to enact a plan to get me fired and in June, their plan worked and I was terminated. (Long story shortened - they began spreading rumors and innuendos about my sexuality and eventually I was terminated because of thier lies.)

I have had to cancel my upcoming vacation and am having serious Disney withdrawal.

Of all the things I have had to give up being unemployed, Disney is the hardest...anyone have any thoughts on how to get me through these tough times and look forward to when I am back on my feet?

Anyone ever been in the same situation - you were let go because of your sexuality?

I am sorry to butt in here...I was just reading through the boards and wanted to offer That really stinks, and people really stink...I am so sorry! Humans make me sick sometimes. I hope you can get to disney soon

All I can say is that I am really sorry for your job loss and that I am not suprised. I can't relate because I am straight, but I was fired for having to take maternity leave after becoming pregnant. I went to one of the top employment lawyers in my state and there was nothing that he could do for me. They were able to do it legally. Stupid loopholes. I really feel for you because it really stings when you get fired for something other than poor job performance. It stings even more when you get fired because someone was out to get you. All it takes is one intolerant you know what to get the ball rolling.

As far as mourning the loss of Disney goes, at first I stayed away from the boards. It was too much of a painful reminder for me. I started to get into activities that were the furthest thing away from Disney. This worked for a short time and then sadly I started to think about it again. Now I watch Disney movies, look at pics from my past trips, and cruise the boards. I look up everything I can and read trip reports. In a way it kind of fills the void. I think of it as seeing everything Disney has to offer without spending a dime. I have also made a few of the Disney recipes too.

Again I am really sorry about your job and your former coworkers being complete ***holes.
