Any tips for going to the parks with a 4 month old? I also have a 2 and a half year old (this will be his 4th trip) who will be running the show. I mainly want to know what rides are safe/unsafe for a baby and the best way to move around (stroller, sling, baby carrier?). Thanks!:)

I have always alternated between a stroller and a baby bjorn. I could never get the hang of a sling, I felt like thebaby would fall out. :) The stroller was good for napping and if they got hot or too heavy in the baby bjorn and the baby bjorn was great for standing in lines. I rode everything with him, that didn't have a height restriction on it. The only place I had trouble with my youngest was the Bug's Life show he got scared and cried, I was sitting next to an exit so I just asked if I could leave so he wasn't disruptive. I also asked to sit at the front of the jeep on the safari ride at AK, I was told it wasn't as bumpy up there. Have a wonderful trip.

Thanks for that tip! I was wondering what it would be like to take my baby on the safari trip! That's the thing I want to do most at Disney and thought maybe I wouldn't be able to!

I took my DD when she was 4 months to DL, and took her on everything without a height restriction, and she did fine (granted no safari there.) I almost always had her in her stroller to walk around. One night I tried putting her in the front pack thing (sorry can't remember what it's called.) but I quickly put her back in her stroller. People were basically brushing right into her, and had a few almost completey run into me when she was on the front pack, so that was the end of that. We were there in Aug. though, so things were more crowded. Good luck! I've also never tried the sling, because I tend to be a little clumbsy at times, and would be scared I'd flip her out somehow:confused3

our daughter was 1 month old when we took her in June, we brought a small fan for the stroller and took advantage of the baby centers for changing and feeding. Just be sure to bring a nice soft hat for the baby and sun block.

When I just had 2, a 3 year old and infant, we took the stroller and baby carrier. She spent a lot of time in both, but the stroller was a necessity for all the stuff we had to lug around between the two of them - baby food, diapers, extra clothing, etc. Memorize where all the baby stations are before you go, as they are wonderful. While in line, I often kept her in the front carrier and just adjusted it, so she was still in it on the rides. We waited while the other two rode the safari, as we were advised of the rough ride, but I'm sure they would have still let us on if we wanted. My advice: do what's best for your child, and give the pediatrician a call before you go to see what your little one should and should not do. You might be surprised.

Definitely have a stroller... good for baby... plus good for storing all the baby gear!

Even with my two boys who will be 4 and turning 6 on our next trip, I intend to have our double stroller... mostly because I like having a portable "trunk" for all our stuff! Our older son probably won't use it much, but it's nice to have the option in case he gets tired or needs to take a little nap.

Another tip: try tying a balloon to your stroller. When you park it, sometimes the CMs move the strollers around, making it tricky to spot when you return to get it. The balloon will make it easier. If it's one of those nice mylar balloons, you could use the same balloon for your whole trip.

i enjoyed carrying our 2 mo. old around in a baby bjorn, but after a long day it was a lot of strain on the back.

Agreed! I couldn't stand up straight for an hour after I took my ds out for a rest, and he was only about 16 lbs. at the time. That's why you need the stroller too. :thumbsup2

A better option than a baby bjorn for the back is the ergo. I can carry my 5-year-old in it without strain. Its mechanics are fabulous and it can be used as both a front or rear pack. We went when my youngest was 6 months old and he stayed in it most of the trip. It was super easy to get on a ride while he was face front.

We had a double stroller too but my older boys spent more time in it than the baby did.

Thanks for all of the info. I figured that the baby bjorn and stroller would be best. I'm definitely worried about the back pain! I can't wait to go!
