Disney with a one year old

We took our 14 month old last year. Had a great trip. Just keep in mind if it's just two adults and one infant, there will be rides you need to ride alone while someone watches the infant. Or you would need to skip those rides.

That’s true or someone said u can get a baby sitter. So could always do that park at night

So I’m preface this by saying I’m not an experienced cruiser though I have looked a bit at the options on board for kids. I feel like a cruise would be more of an adult trip. You’d be able to do more together with your wife and yourself with easy access to child care, but I feel like Disney would be a lot more of a family trip. I feel like there would be a lot more for your little one to do and see at Disney verses a ship where they’re too young to do most of the more fun stuff.

If you’re looking for a true family trip I’d say do Disney. I feel like it would be easier to spend more time together as a family verses a cruise where dinners may be a bit long for your baby and shows that wouldn’t hold their attention so they would probably spent more time in child care than together as a family.

Hmmm that's a good point. I guess there wouldn't be much in the ship for a child that age

So hard picking as we love both

Well that could be a deal breaker for us

So we could pop out one evening and do a few thrill rides

Didn't no about the in room baby sitting. Does that book up quick

I've never personally used them. We did the kids club when our son was 6 or 7 and was really great to have the date night. And he loved it. I would visit the website and call the number to ask how it works.

They are an independent company offering services to area hotels. http://kidsniteout.com/in-room-sitter/

Apparently they also offer an "in-park assistant" that will follow you around like a family nanny.

Will the baby remember any of it no. But you will for the rest of your lives. Took my new grandson in June and the look on his face when he saw his hero Mickey Mouse was made the extra work and everything else worth it. He is 19 months now and when he sees the picture of him with Mickey he dances around the room and laughs.

That's quite a good idea, well at least there's a few options and we could have the odd date night

are bars etc in Disney springs over 18 or how does that work, or do people go with wee ones there

I was 8 weeks old on my first trip in February '90. My son was 14 months in November '10.
Your child may not remember it, but you will. And there's definitely a lot of fun to be had, young or old, in Disney.

We had many trips to Disney when our kids were babies. They are some of our best memories! As babies, they love to sleep AND they love just looking around. That makes for an easy/fun trip for the parents! We brought our comfortable stroller from home (double stroller/have twins) so we could recline the seats and put up the canopies when the babies wanted to nap. During nap time, DH and I would have a great meal with stroller and sleeping babies next to our table. One that worked really well that I remember clearly is eating in Italy in Epcot in the outside tables. We had adult drinks and an awesome meal. Some restaurants have congested tables so we'd stay away from those. We also enjoyed walking around Epcot countries and trying different drinks/snacks. When the babies were awake, a favorite was Chef Mickeys - just can't beat all the colors, music, and fun characters!

As far as rides, we always went on rides as a family. So whatever my babies, then toddlers, now teens are into at their age is what we went on. There were a lot of fun things to do when babies. We'd put them in our front carriers and go on many rides. DH and I still remember today how happy we were seeing things through their eyes! Enjoy trips like this because it changes once they're teens (lol). Now I have to take Bonine before the parks because they want to go on rides that make me nauseous. :)

Edit to add: We used to like going into Espn Club when they were babies. It's a little loud in there, but my babies were fascinated with all the TV's and weren't bothered. We also went to our resort hot tub at night with babies happily sleeping in stroller next to us. All in all, those baby trips were absolutely awesome!

Yeah it does sound like a fun trip. And it’s good you can still eat where ever you like really

I looked at are the rides a baby can go on and there is quite a lot

And we would probably get a in room baby sitter so we can do some thrill rides a couple of nights

I would do the cruise. We took our oldest on a Disney cruise when she was 16 months and it was great. We used the nursery a few times so we could have a nice brunch and get a break. It was pretty relaxing (as far as trips with a baby can be). The one caveat is that we had a little one who was VERY good in restaurants, so the long dinners were no problem for her. My youngest at that age would not have been able to handle it.

We took our youngest to WDW when he was around 9 months (the older one was almost 4 at that point) and it was fine but tiring. It wasn't necessarily harder b/c we had a baby along with us but he wasn't sleeping well at that age and I find WDW trips less relaxing overall than cruises, so it was hard to be pumped about a full park day after you've been up half the night. We had fun but I'm much more excited about the trip that we are planning for this year (now that my youngest is 2 and sleeping well).

Some good points there u made

Aghhh I really don't no what to pick

one week at WDW and one week cruising. that's what I would do if I were you.

Check the cost of in-room sitting before getting excited about it. It might be more than you're expecting.

Babies are the easiest to take to Disney. They don't complain any more than they do at home, you can put them in a nice baby carrier and be mobile. Mine was still (almost) exclusively nursed at 1 and 6 months beyond, so that was super-easy, too.

do not do a late night with a 1 year old, not a normal schedule.

Late nights for my son were 100% his schedule. And the OP is from Europe so baby's schedule is already going to be all kinds of messed up anyway.

You can make those same memories when they are old enough to remember them.

Well, no, they can't. Disney is different with a 1 year old vs 2 vs 10 year old. If they want to go to Disney, they should go. But you should never go to disney FOR a baby/young child.

As far as I know all the DS bars allow kids, even at the bar. Only bar at WDW that I know with a solid age limit is Jellyrolls at Boardwalk.

Taking a young kid to Disney is an easy vacation because the place is so kid-friendly.

The restaurants don't run out of high-chairs. They have pack n plays in the rooms ready to go. You can go pretty much anywhere and no one glares at you for bringing a toddler -- kids are everywhere, they are expected.

But don't go because you think it will please your child -- go because it's an easy vacation for you.

Yeah we were thinking about doing a week at WDW and a weeks cruise but it seemed to be a lot more costly when I was adding it up

We brought both our kids when they were 1 year old. Like stated above, there are plenty of things they will enjoy. But for the most part, it’s for you. You will enjoying making your own memories with them. You will love those pictures. Just take it easy while you’re there and you’ll love it.

We took both our kids when they were a year and had a wonderful time. We love the coasters, too, so we either took turns or didn't ride. We had been there several times before we had kids, so it wasn't a big deal to us. And most of the rides we could do together. My kids are now 12 and 16 and I miss those days already. The look of wonder in their eyes is something you'll always remember.

We also have taken cruises, but for that we waited until they were older.

Have a great time which ever trip you choose.

Am going to see if Mybe 10 days in the parks and a 4 day cruise would be an option with out going over our budget to much

Am thinking 10 days at parks and a 4 day cruise

Or a week in the parks and a week on harmony of the seas

We took our daughter when she was 16 months old and she had a great time! She enjoyed meeting the characters at character dinners and enjoyed the younger rides. She doesn't remember it now, obviously, but the photos and memories my DH and I have with her are priceless. :)

Same with us, our girls were 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 years old when we first took them. They had a great time and we enjoy the memories of it.

Yeah I think as long as you plan different and go at a lot slower a pace it should be fun
