Disney Wish Maiden Voyage - News & Live Checkins

I don't know if I would consider the maiden voyage, as well as even the first month worth of voyages on the wish as indicative of crowds for the Quiet Cove and cove pools. Reports i've seen is that the maiden voyage had VERY few children on it. I think once the more seasoned (gold, platinum, etc.) cruisers have gotten the new ship out of their systems then the cruise population will normalize more towards a more family oriented population with children, reducing the demand for the adult areas.

I think right now, there is just a higher percentage of folks who are adults and such the Adult areas are a bit overwhelmed. Once the wish gets a month or two of the 4-night/3-night cruises that the platinum and gold cruisers have done a ton of already, things will go back more towards first-time and infrequent cruisers who are doing things with kids as a family trip.
This is true.
There were very few kids, by that I mean 12 and under...I would guess less than 100.
Toddlers? I'd guess no more than 20.
It was mostly adults on the ship, the majority being 40 and up but many teenagers and a LOT of college-age kids, like early 20's, an unusual number of them.
I'm back home and it was such a delight to sail the Wish. I will go back to her one day, but not anytime soon.

No…they said they are not going to offer any and the size of the Cove Cafe on the Wish is so small…but that seemed to be the trend around the Wish…
I've heard about Wishing Star Cafe off the Grand Hall. Any pastry case there? Sometimes for breakfast on the Fantasy it was nice to just get a couple pastries and sit by Quiet Cove rather than brave Cabanas.

Oh and also, the Hero Encounter Incredibles obstacle course. Were there lines for that or was it pretty reasonable?

That's exactly what we did on the Fantasy, grabbed a bunch of pastries from Cove Cafe, especially for DD22 and DD18 when they were sleeping in. We never went to Cabanas. Our stateroom was right by the forward elevators, so that helped.

The lack of snacks on the Wish better not be moving to the other ships. There will be mutiny if they remove the Cove Cafe/Vista cafe snacks off the older ships. Especially from my family who especially loved the late night olives and bread sticks!

Did you have to go to Palo's to make a reservation after embarking?
We did… many tried when the booking window opened but few were successful - the site was slammed, and I couldn’t do anything at all with it until 30 minutes later. We kept getting Dory and other error messages. Most folks did not get anything ahead of time with the exception of concierge and a few lucky folks.

a note ......

this inag' cruise had less than 200 children .....

so there was an 'unusual' number of adults vs kids as compared to the typical disney cruise . . .

Same thing happened for my August Cruises we rescheduled. Hoping for a better time when booking opens for new February cruise

We had decent luck for September even waiting until Silver day or beyond. But we had to have more than 2 people (for our two Enchante reservations we needed exactly 5 people; I saw on the walkthrough there is one table that seats 5 so it must be that one). For Palo we had to have 4 people only, so hoping to be able to add another person when we board though it looks like they have a lot of 4-seaters there.

I'd recommend finding other people on a FB group and linking reservations so you can get access to other table sizes!

Curious if anyone tried the Enchante dessert offering. We weren’t able to book it when our window opened, just wondering if it’s worth trying for when we get on board. We have dinner booked and based on the tasting menu being fish heavy, I’ll be ordering a la carte instead. Curious to know what the dessert offerings are ahead of time 😉

I’m hoping to see this soon also, we have it booked for our trip at end of Oct.

Here are my thoughts on the Wish after debarking the MV this morning.

Pros:

Overall it is beautiful. Everything is stunning from the carpet to the lights and the decor.

The Little Mermaid was spectacular. Really an amazing show.

There are two movie theaters so there were more movie times but they are small. The seats are very comfortable.

The Hero Zone is amazing. Having it available regardless of the weather is a game changer. We had teenagers on the cruise and this was their favorite space.

AquaMouse is unique and fun. We stayed in our raft and rode it so many times in a row that we lost count (there was no line).

The food on deck is hands down the best improvement. The BBQ and tacos are top notch!

Cons:

The stair/elevator situation is confusing at best. Only two banks makes it harder to navigate and if you have an aft room it is a really long walk. We found ourselves having to go outside to keep going up.

Adult areas are small. I know the MV had an unusual number of adults, but the spaces are seriously small. Keg & Compass, Nightingale’s, and Hyperspace were particularly small. The adult infinity pool just does not have much capacity. Cove Cafe felt so tiny! Not to mention that side of the ship is a dead end so it forces everyone back through the adult pool area which is already crowded. And no snacks there either morning or night.

Guest Services chat is hit and miss. It worked for a simple question and the next time I gave up at 81 in the queue and made an appointment.

The line for dining changes when we boarded was ridiculous. I would guess it was 150 people in line down the hall and around the corner. We gave up.

The Hyperspace lounge was cool but not that cool. It is Skyline with Star Wars scenes.

We had a family oceanview with the big window. It is definitely smaller than other ships. We particularly noticed it in the bathrooms.

Happy to answer questions.

That's a good price for that. We have a VERY high end, very authentic Frech bakery nearby and they charge $7-9 per item in their pastry case. They are items similar to those listed. So, if you get all those and an alcoholic drink for $60, that's a steal!

We are just home as well from the MV. One other thing to add. I was surprised that any food in Keg and Compass was at an additional cost. That felt very RCCL to me. For instance, they had a charge (can't remember how much) for chicken wings, pretzels, etc. In contrast, on our Magic sailing a few weeks ago, the "snacks" buffet was once again open at night and you could get as many chicken wings as you wanted (and they were pretty good) along with a number of other items completely gratis...

The pretzel was $8 and it was huge! But unlike the pubs/bars on other ships, there were no free snacks at any time.

I would expect the Enchante dessert experience menu to change often. The Remy dessert experience menu changes all the time. Sadly, no lemon dessert at Enchante!
How often does Remy change?

This one looks fantastic, I’d be quite happy with it in October.
