Since my first visit to the resort in the late 90's I was always interested how Disney made the lights flicker. If you notice the effect it gives a special ambiance. I first started inquiring about how they did it 10 years ago. I was told it was done using DMX lighting control and a flicker generator... At one point I priced out this solution and it was about 4k in parts. Well my last trip about a week ago I was leaving my room in the Villas heading down to the pool and Disney Engineering was replacing a fixture in the atrium of the Villas. I stopped by to chat and asked what do they use for the flicker effect? DMX? No sir said the helpful Disney staff member we use a little generator that sits inside each fixture. You know what he said, "give me your room number and I will leave you a message with the part number."
