We are looking at going back - yes i'm very surprised that DH has suggested it after saying we wouldnt go back for a few more years!:cool1:

We'd like to take advantage of the DDP and will upgrade to Dlx DDP and were originally looking at OKW or SSR - but aren't to keen on the reviews. Both properties look like they could do with a bit of tlc.

We are now looking at WL or AKL - I know they are a bit more than SSR/OKW but after my scrimping on the last hotel I'm not going to make the same mistake this time - I'd rather pay a little more (ok maybe more than a little more:rotfl:) to get a really nice property (but we'd only really be able to afford the standard room at AKL).

We have some flight vouchers from American Airlines so hope to fly to Miami for a couple of nights and then drive up to Orlando after that.

I'd love to stay at Beach or Yacht club, but would have to give up this years and the following years holiday!!!

Any suggestions you helpful lot?

Many thanks

We just got back Saturday from Wilderness lodge, we've got DVC so we stayed in the villas. I got to say that out of all disney properties this is our favourite place to stay (well that's a little lie my fav place is Contemporary 14th floor, but I don't think i'll be staying there again anytime soon! LOL)
We stayed at OKW and it is a little more run down than the other dvc resorts but we have still enjoyed it in the past, we have also stayed at AK a few times, I quite like the resort although hubbie isn't that bother and say's once you've seen a giraffe outside your window you've seen it a million times....:confused3

SSR is a wonderful resort we styaed there in 2007 and this past February, both times at the Grandstand area.

Links to trip reports - 2007 and 2009.

We have also stayed at AKL twice once in the lodge in 2004 and again last year in the DVC rooms at the lodge - 2008. This reosrt has lovely theming and the veiws from the savanna roomsa re worth the extra money.

Stayed at WL main hotel in 2002 and that was nice, the theming was great.

I must say we would not hesitate to stay at SSR if we could not get in our home resort of SSR.

Claire ;)

Stayed at AKL last year for 3 nights, we were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to Savanah room, I would not enjoy a full holiday there in a std room, would want Savanah room or would prefer elsewhere.
Really like WL, looked around at Xmas but I couldn't pay the price, it was £900(£56/night) more than we have paid for OKW.
OKW prices are my limit, if we like it will maybe try SSR next year or back to OKW if we don't like it we are back to offsite.

I've stayed in both and love them both. I would think that location is perhaps also important - do you want to be nearer to MK? Either way, you'll not make a bad choice.

Just returned from a stay at Kidani and VWL and both are great resorts (have stayed at AKL and WL previously).

Both are wonderful and have superb theming and either one would be a great choice. WL is very close to MK and also the monorail, Poly, Contemporary and GF so easy to find other restaurants. The boat ride to MK is great.

AKL has a brilliant african theme and of course the animals. A savannah room is great but there is plenty of opportunitiesa round the hotel to view the animals including night vision. Bus transport is good at both resorts.

Split vote in this house, Hannah (DD) and I prefer WL whereas Sandra (DW) prefers AKL.

WL is my second favorite resort on property (#1 for me is GF)...

however, i wouldn't be willling to give up two vacations just to stay there..

i'd rather stay at the pop and visit 3 times, then stay at the WL and visit only once..

but that's me..
