Disney while doing PD

We will be heading down to the world for 10 days in August (I know, hot part of the year, but I don't have control over the schedule.) I normally do CCPD during the night with a manual fill 3 hours before cycling and ending full to drain 3 hours after coming off. I'm thinking of taking my drain bag and necessaries with me to the park in the morning and just doing my drain in the First Aid station. My evening fill is another matter, but may see what they have available and also do that fill in the parks. I have made arrangements with Baxter to deliver solution to the resort, and I'm renting an ECV just to be sure I can last the whole day.

Any suggestions from folks that have done PD at the world before?

I am going in Sept and do PD too. This will be my first time going while on treatment. I am just going to roll with it. I do mine at night so I am hoping it wont be a problem.

I did find out that if you let house keeping know you are doing PD they will put a note to clean your room with only green cleaners and not use latex. When we were setting up my delivery of equipment the lady on the phone asked if we had any special needs and told us she put down for the room to be cleaned specially.

Do you have a cycler that you could use for standard PD for the length of your trip? I know Baxter is pretty accommodating...if you are comfortable with going that route. Can you call guest services prior to going and see what supplies they have at first aid and if they can provide a place to do your exchange that would be as sterile as possible? Before we traveled with my son, we would always call ahead to where ever we were going - acquaint ourselves with the local pharmacies our insurance was partners with and had our neph/transplant team call the local children's hospital to fax in a standing order for labs if needed while we were down there - it was already down there without any worry, we could just run.
I truly hope you are able to enjoy your trip without any complications!:goodvibes

First Aid only has minor supplies such as band-aids and aspiring or similar. They can provide a sterile environment and stuff like alcohol swabs, etc. For anything more severe than cuts and bruises or headaches they will have Reedy Creek Emergency Services handle it; this could lead to transport to a hospital.

For anything specialized and regular you have to provide your own supplies. They will store medications and equipment for you; refrigerated if necessary. For example, for injections you have to supply your own syringes, but they will dispose of them.

I use a cycler and I am planning on taking it. I was wondering what to do with the drain bags if I use them. I use Fersenius as my company and they will deliver my supplies to the hotel if I give them a months notice. Disney told us to check in about a week before hand to make sure every thing was noted like it was supposed to be.

To answer questions:
CCPD is Continuous Cyclic Peritoneal Dialysis. With this form of dialysis I am connected to my cycler overnight while it does my exchanges automatically. My treatment also requires me to do a manual exchange in the afternoon and let that dwell until I connect to the cycler for the evening.

I'm hoping not to need to do injections while there, but will have my Heperin and Peritonitis kits with me just in case. If I get that bad it will likely mean a trip to the ER anyway.

waylandcook, I usually just dump my drain bag down the nearest drain; a bathtub if I want to leave it or cut the corner off and dump it in the nearest toilet. That's the fastest way to be done with it.

As for using a First Aid station, I have everything I need with me but wanted to be sure the attendants weren't going to freak if I went in to utilize the facility. Sounds like they won't. And I would need to keep my dialysate warm, I've heard that loading cold fluid can be pretty uncomfortable until it comes up to body temp.

Thanks for the inputs!
