Hi

I've booked my wedding through Virgin Holidays. Was originally going for the Swan & Dolphin package but have decided to upgrade to the WP. Virgin have provisionally took my dates for 1st/2nd May 07. Once this is confirmed will I have a contact in Disney to discuss requirements (flowers, reception venues etc..) with or will I have to do this all via Virgin?

Also the price has took quite a bit of a jump (£2215) anybody know if we get any extras to compensate for the high increase?? :confused3

Thx
Bekki

in my opinion, you should have booked direct with disney. i booked with virgin and had no end of problems. you only get to liase with virgin (who dont seem to know anything to do with disney weddings) and dont get to speak with anyone from disney unless you initiate the contact yourself, cos virgin dont actually have the numbers themselves. if you want any extras, make it easier on yourself and book them direct with disney (ie extra floral, photography etc) cos virgin wont bother trying to book anything til about a month before the wedding, and by then it may already be booked. (i tried to book my MK session and they refused to try and book it til closer to the wedding date, by which time i knew it'd already would have been booked)
sorry to sound like a bit of a downer, but i dont want anyone to have to go through the amount of stress i did, and wanted to give you a bit of a heads up. feel free to PM me if you have anything else you'd like to know

We also booked with Virgin, but didn't quite have tje same problems.
We were fortunate enough for our Disney Event Manager to contact us directly, about 6 months beforehand.
It may be worth contacting DFTW to see who your EM will be and then you can email them directly with any queries. You can also use them to book for any add ons direct, they just send you an invoice a few weeks before you go. It is better and more reliable than trying to book through Virgin.

You will have loads of paperwork to fill in for Virgin, which I had to send twice as they lost it all first time so be sure to photocopy it all. (I scanned and emailed it the second time to make sure it got there).

Personal opinion is to ignore all the photo and video packages that are on offer with the Virgin stuff and book independently. You can't go wrong with STVS for your Video..........

Ours is here............

http://www.streamload.com/stvs/coe/coe_cook_summary.wmv

And everyone who has used him will tell you how fabulous Randy Chapman is for the photography........

www.chapmanphotography.com

Both vendors are extremely familiar with the FTW's and you can really rely on them.

For info, our wedding story can be found here..............

If I can be of any help, please do not hesitate to drop me a line.

Best regards,

I would imagine the reason for the big jump increase Bekki is because it costs a lot more money to hire out the Wedding Pavilion than get married at the Swan & Dolphin. Put it this way when I was planning my wedding 2 years ago for a Custom the Yacht Club was $1200 just to hire with the WP being $2400 and they YC wedding was again more pricey than the Swan or Dolphin location

I agree, i think the difference in price is because you have now booked a disney wedding. Although on Disney property the swan and dolphin is not owned by disney. As Sam said the WP is also more expensive than other disney venues.
