My DH and I were married almost 20 years ago. I come from a very traditional (overbearing) family and when we were married it was a huge wedding. Since I was only 19 and didn't know any better I let my family bully me into letting them plan the whole wedding (I didn't even pick my wedding dress). The only thing I got to pick was the cake, which my mother went back later and changed. I always felt like it was not my wedding.

My DH recently (during our last trip to WDW) asked me to marry him again at WDW. I thought it was the most romantic thing! He has given me carte blanche to plan our WDW wedding for next summer, since we both felt we didn't have our own wedding the first time.

My problem is that I called FTW today and was told that we cannot get remarried but can only due a VR. I really want to do it up nice, dress and all, even though it will be intimate (only 10 people, which I like) and we would really like to actually get married again. Has anyone ever gotten remarried at Disney instead of VR? The girl at FTW that I spoke with is only sending info on VR to me and not the Intimate Wedding info. Any suggestions on how to get around the whole thing?

It is not legal to "remarry", unless you have divorced, even to the same person. There is no way around it.

As for the difference between and intimate VR and an intimate wedding, there is none! The only thing you don't do the same is apply for a marriage license and get a certificate certified at the end. All the rest is the same. You can say any vos you want, and you choose your officiant. You can choose any of the intimate locations, have the same cake, dress, etc, as you would for an intimate "wedding".

I'm not quite sure why you would need to "get around it". To me, they are the same ceremony, just ith less paperwork.

Thanks for the reply. I asked what the difference was when I called and the girl told me that the VR just didn't have all the "whistles and bells" that the wedding do. Never did a VR so I assumed that that meant it wasn't as "Disney" which is what we want. Thanks for clearing that up for us!

Jessi -

Congratulations on your 20 years of marriage!!! If you don't want an intimate VR, and you want all the choices and bells and whistles you didn't have the first time, then you can have a Custom VR. The same rules apply as a custom wedding. I know several girls on Disneymooner Board who are planning Custom VR's.

if you go that route, this time you can choose your cake and all the other details!

Good luck - and what a great hubby you have!

Congratulations on your 20 years of marriage!

I totally agree with the other posters, there will be NO DIFFERENCE between your VR and a "re-marriage".

You can wear a big dress, have a wedding party, bridesmaids, flowers girls, whatever you want! Even in a "standard" Disney VR, the ceremony is very much like a wedding; vows, rings, pledge to each other - kiss the bride, etc.

Although I will say, if you want it to feel VERY wedding-y, I would do it at the Wedding Pavillion. Which means a deluxe intimate or a custom.

Not sure how much you want to spend, but here are some ideas on where to start if you want to go "all out":

- Stay at the GF
- Book ceremony at wedding pavillion
- Book cinderella's carriage to take you over and back
- Book in-park photos for early that morning
- Buy and wear a beautiful wedding dress!
- Book private room at V& A for your guests for dinner
- Book the Grand One Yacht to go watch "Wishes" after dinner (book extra time with your professional photographer and have them come on the boat - take some shots of you and DH in your wedding attire as the fireworks go off)
- Have Disney florist decorate your suite while you are out to surprise hubby when you get back with rose petals and candles.

Good luck with your planning!

Susy

Thank you guys for all the great ideas! I'm so excited I can hardly sleep and its still 11 months away! I should be receiving all of the info from Disney any day now so I can start planning. I think we will go with a delux intimate because the WP is so gorgeous in pictures.
