Hi all! My Fiancee and I are planning to be married at The Polynesian's Sunset Point on May 15 2013, and I'm trying to plan the best trip possible for our wedding.

I'm wondering what we should do for our Resort stay.

Our first thought was to stay at the Poly, which seems the obvious answer, since it's a walk to the Venue rather than a Limo ride. The problem with that is the cost of a 7 night stay at a Deluxe resort.

My second thought was to rent DVC points and stay in a Studio at Bay Lake Tower, which is a bit less expensive than the same length of stay at the Poly, but is still right near the venue. My fiancee isn't sure on that one.

Our most recent thought was to just stay at the French Quarter because it's got such a small, intimate, romantic feel to it. We stayed for 8 nights last April and fell in love with the place. It's less expensive, it's a relatively short ride to the Poly, and it's got the Romantic atmosphere we like.

Another option would be to do a split-stay, but I'm not really sure we want to move hotels on our wedding day. That's just one more thing to worry about on that day, but we'd probably do the first 4 nights at POFQ and then the last 3 at the Poly, and we'd probably be moved into the Poly well before our 5:00 ceremony, so either she or I could use the Poly to get ready for the wedding.

So, what's your opinion? Where would you pick, and Why?

Depends on other details of your wedding I think. Is it just the two of you? Are you having a reception? Dessert party? I am switching 3 times during wedding week. First is hotel with families. Second is Grand Floridian from the room block as a gift. Third is AKL DVC for a honeymoon feel away from everyone! I think it all depends on how you want the feel of your wedding to be. I am trying to stay one extra night at GF since its my only wedding and i can only do it once! i always said as a little girl that i'd stay there when i got married!!!!

You could rent DVC points however Bay Lake is very hard to get into (room availability) plus the points would probably be very expensive. I was straight out of college when we got married and we decided to stay at Port Orleans: Riverside. It was very nice. Quiet, Peaceful, and it is also a very pretty resort. I hope this helps a little.

Welcome! :wave2:

We've rented points numerous times, including for a stay at Bay Lake Tower, and find it a great way to get more bang for our buck. Is your fiancee sketchy on the idea of renting DVC points or of staying at BLT?

This sounds like it might be the best option for you guys if you love the resort, especially since you get a limo in the package to take you to the ceremony.

I am a BIG fan of split stays (we moved four times on our 2-week honeymoon) but I would not recommend moving on the wedding day. I'd schedule it for either the day before or 2 days after. As a lady who needs her time to get ready (even more to get ready for a wedding!) I would not want to take the chance that the room would not be ready until 3pm for a 5pm ceremony.

Sorry, here's a bit more detail. We're arriving on a Saturday night, the Wedding is on Wednesday and we're leaving the next Saturday to get on the Disney Fantasy. We will have all of our parents, my sister, brother-in-law and nephew, and her brother and his girlfriend. All are planning their own accommodations. It's going to be a casual beach-style wedding with just the 10-11 of us. We're not doing a reception, but are planning a dinner for everyone the night before, and a dinner for everyone the night of, after the 5:00 ceremony

We're renting DVC points this October and staying at the Beach Club, and have already done the math for BLT, and it's quite a bit less expensive than 7 nights at the Poly, as long as we don't go for a MK view.

I think her problem with the BLT is the contemporary feel of it. It seems a bit cold or stark, where the Poly or POFQ are warm and inviting. Me, I think it'll be great either way.

I kind of agree, but I think it might be a bit stale, since we just stayed there.

I think it would be ok, since she's going to be getting ready in someone else's room anyway. Either her Mom's or My mom's, who will probably be staying at the Poly or Grand Floridian anyway. So it would really be me moving on the Wedding day, and I'd just have to make sure I have a place o change before the ceremony.

Given all that you've said, I'd rent points and stay at BLT. We actually really like it there, we have modern tastes but i think a place being romantic is also what you make of it.

If your families are staying at GF and Poly and you're at POFQ, it will be harder to get to them and hang out with them. If you're all on the monorail and near the same park, it will be a lot easier to meet up and get around. Maybe try to change her mind by taking her to the cali grille the night you get there, watch the sunset from your balcony , go for a walk around the resort or swing in a hammock on the beach :)

I also agree if you just stayed at POFQ, stay somewhere new. It's your wedding and honeymoon! :) the CR and BLT to me are classic Disney. Hopefully actually staying there will give her a new perspective! I highly recommend not moving on your wedding day, regardless if she is planning to get ready somewhere else. That also means having to be out of your current room by 11, pack everything up etc. not a great idea, sorry ! Haha. Good luck deciding and congrats!

To add another layer of complication... I just rented points for a trip in August and I was super pumped about it. Until I received weekly emails from Disney with discounts and better rates. There weren't better rates available until after I already booked and now it feels like they are messing with me. Haha. But there have been discounts available for just about every non-holiday time period for a few years now I've noticed.

You can't really plan ahead so much with that though, so DVC is probably still a great option.
