One of the highlights of our previous holidays have been the disney water parks. Our son would of been happy to spend the entire duration of our 3 week holiday at either blizzard beach or typhoon lagoon. Having always gone to Florida in July/August the water parks have always been a fantastic way to recharge the batteries (and top up the tan). This year we are going in December. Can anyone tell me if the water parks are open in December and is it chilly.

Hi WelshLamb,

Haven't been to the water parks in December but they can refurb one of the parks this time of year. I have been at the beginning of February however and at this of year the Water is fine as it is heated but it can be cold when you are out of the water in the breeeze. Another point to note is that the parks will be open for shorter hours in the day but beleive or not when we went it was drier and sunnier (no cloud cover)! :sunny:

When we went at Christmas 2 years ago, Blizzard Beach was closed for Rehab so we used Typhoon Lagoon which is our favorite anyway. It was quite a nice day weather wise and certainly warm enough to go in the water, however the weather can be dodgy in December and there were days that it would have been to cold to go. That said, one or other of the water parks are always open at Christmas time. :goodvibes

It was vertainly warm enough to swim when we were there in December last year - not everyday though and only in the middle of the day. As soon as the sun starts to drop the temperature drops too :)

As someone has already said, there is only one waterpark open at that time of year while the other gets a re-hab.

This year Typhoon Lagoon is in rehab :sad2:

It'll be DH's first visit to Blizzard Beach - and a reason to plan a trip for next year as we both love TL so much!

We went in December 04 and the weather was unseasonably cold! Having said that we did manage 2 trips to Blizzard Beach which if I am honest were a little too cold for comfort (temps in the low 60s). But this did have a huge advantage! It meant there were literally no other park guests so we had the whole party to ourselves :thumbsup2 There were honestly only about 5 cars in the whole carpark and the same number of families in the park, it seemed.

Hopefully the weather will be better for you though :)
