Disney Wall Art Swap * complete *

Group look good here too! :thumbsup2

. I see in the requirements section that the MAIN color for you piece needs to match the color group, but you may add other complementary colors to the piece itself. This is good. I have the American Pavilion for Epcot. I'd like to add a touch of red.... Otherwise, it might just look like a night sky! :lmao:

So ...... Next issue ...... Does the embellishment have to fit strictly within the Mickey head shape itself or can their be a bit of overlay? :confused3.

We'd have to see what Traci says but here is my opinion.

Using this photo as a guideline (we are doing the red Mickeys) I would say limit overhang to a minimum because if you over hang on the left, and I over hang on the right we will be infringing on each others space. I think I saw a few things over hung on the heart canvas but not by much, PM Traci and have her send you the photo.

Just clarifying as I start my designs- we are making mickey heads that represent our ride/area/ect. We would not need to put a name or letter or anything to say what it is just make sure it is represented- for example my thought on Everest are to take my brown mickey heads and do a water crinkle to get them looking really distressed(since the whole area looks somewhat run down and the buildings are cracking), then I was going to use chalks to make a yeti footprint on one ear and then add on some mountains with white peaks in the middle. I do not need to put any kind of wordings or letters to identify what my item is (this one may be easier to specifically see than for example the Oasis (which I was thinking of going green leaves, brown trail, and birds for the mickey head).

Yes you can use other colors, but your main color would be what ever color you chose.

In the heart example there were no words. I would think it would be more a representation of the ride, something a little less obvious than a word.

The "overhang" I was referring to would definitely NOT extend beyond the space occupied by the ears. I was playing with Aurora's crown on the Mickey head. I like the way it looks with the size I'm trying to use, but the crown itself covers the bottom connection from the head to the eats. Also, the top point extends higher than the head, but not as high as the top of the ears. Make sense? :confused3

I will try to take a pic of my draft & post tomorrow. I was working on a wall hanging project for a friend tonight.

Traci - pming my addy...remembered they changed our number...didn't move just got changed! So, you will have the correct new address! I have yours if you want to save the send!

My groups are great, sending my info now.

My understanding of the swap was that when you saw the Mickey head you would be able to guess what it represented without having to search for it. I Googled X Vinylmation where X = Giraffe or whatever else I had for groups. It really helped solidify my ideas.

Hi friends!:wave2: Can we just say that biopsy yesterday kicked my butt! :sick:Whew. 7 needle pokes (guided with ulrasound) in my thyroid to collect samples from a nodule that the dr. described as looking like a batman symbol shape and an enlarged lymph node. It was pretty painful, no numbing at all. They dig the needle all around inside you--so not just an easy shot poke. Last night I felt like I swallowed a golf ball and it was stuck in my throat. I was afraid to even sip water because I was sure it wouldn't go down. Uncomfortable this morning but I feel better than yesterday. I'm gonna have to dig down and find that inner superhero and whip out some batman on this thing if I find out it's thyroid cancer. I'll know in 3-6 days.

Thank you to those who sent me their info. I will get mine out to you this evening. I'll make that trade dacky as well.

As far as things overhanging...I prefer to have everything fit onto your Mickey head shape without overhang. But if you are struggling, post a picture of it here and we can figure out what to do.

With regard to words etc. on the Mickey heads. Rebecca, you are on the right track with your Everest example. You do not need to have the ride name or attraction on your piece. Just make it look specific enough that someone would guess what you made is Everest.:thumbsup2

Traci, I'm praying you get a good report from the dr!! My groups are good and I'm sending my info now.

Well girls we have had some good ideas from disney-akj and Mickeyteacher about the bagging, tagging and sorting for this swap. I have decided to try this out... It will save you tons of time when bagging, and $$$ since it's less bags and postage probably too. It saves me time while sorting. Thanks to our smart swapper gals for the suggestions:cheer2:!!!

Everyone needs to lay out 15 bags (quart size will probably be large enough). Label these 15 bags like this:
mycutiepatooties
Traci XXXX
Bag #1-15 (just number your bags)
Write what you made on a note (or print it out) and stick it inside each bag. For example:
AK: green--Tree of Life
MK: gray--castle
DHS: blue--Fantasmic and so on...

Inside your bags put 1 complete set of everything you made. So if you have Tree of Life Mickey heads...and you made 15...now put one into every bag. So at the end there will be only 15 bags total with 1 of each thing you made inside along with a note telling what you made so everyone will quickly know what board each item goes to. Then mail to me.

I'll get them and set up 15 boxes, one for everybody. Then you will each get 1 bag from everybody dropped into your box. So you'll have all 95--a complete set.

Sound okay? Anyone confused? You are really just pre-sorting a bit rather than putting like items into groups that I break apart later.

I love this idea! Much easier for everyone!

Great Idea! I was dreading the thought of you having to sort 1400+ bags.....UGH!
