Hi everyone!

I love Disney with the best of them... and like most of you, the parks are the most enjoyable part of my Disney vacations! However, I just recently booked a trip for BCV for the end of May for some friends and I with the intention of NOT going to any of the parks! We'll be there for five days and we're looking to just unwind by the pool and hang out around the boardwalk and downtown at night. Has anyone gone to Disney without the parks? Am I crazy to think that a trip to disney w/out Epcot, MK, AK, and the Studios can still be enjoyable??? Please... any thoughts, advise would be greatly appreciated!!! Also, we thought about going to a waterpark one or two days but at $42 a piece, i'm not sure we're that interested!

thank you!!!

I've never done it personally, but I know people who have, particularly at Fort Wilderness. No you're not crazy, but you may change your mind when you're there -- especially being that close to Epcot. Enjoy yourself.

We stayed at BCV last August and only went to the pirate: Pirate and Princess princess: party one night. The rest of the time we enjoyed the resort, went to DTD, went to other resorts for dinner, etc. It was great!

Oh - there are so many things to do at Disney World besides the parks! Downtown Disney being the main one. You can also just ride the transportation. A nice monorail trip from the Magic Kingdom over to Epcot and back. Do a ride around the resorts and see those. Walk around Crescent Lake. Walk from the Boardwalk to the Studios. Take the Friendship boats for a round trip (that will take at least an hour). Play miniature golf. In fact, play all four courses. See who has the best overall score at the end. Explore Fort Wilderness. There's so much to see there.

I'll be going to Disney World next month. I'll have two days with my husband and then he will have some business to do for the last two days. I'll do a few things at the parks on my solo time but really thought about things I could do without in that aren't in park. We're staying at All Star Movies and one thing I want to do is take pictures of every single icon at all three All Stars. And I'll make my way over to Port Orleans and walk between Riverside and French quarter for absolutely no reason. I also want to go over to Pop Century and take pictures of all their icons.

I'll never fit in all the non park stuff I want to do in just two days.

I am sure you will have a great time and be able to find plenty of non-park things to keep you busy for five days. However, I could never do it, especially with staying at an Epcot resort. I can't imagine being so close to Epcot for five days and not going in.

I just did it in Feb. I did buy an AP thou I tried to do just one day for gifts etc. and ended up in a wheelchair. But I did spend my 4 days by the pool, I still have my tan!

I spent days by the pool, at dinner time I tried as stated above, and got several massages, it was a total relaxation trip!

the thing I do regret is buying the pass and not using it! stupid, I know...but now I have to go again!

thanks for all the encouraging words....

I guess i'm just so nervous about being mere steps away from Epcot (my fav park) that i'm probably making more out of this than i should.... :scared1:

The resorts are awesome on their own. I would have no problem not going to the parks.

In fact we have started only doing 3 days of parks for every 7 days at WDW so we can enjoy the resorts and relax. Park touring is not relaxing, laying by the pool is!

Next trip I'm thinking 2 park days will be enough.

I did a trip once with only ONE day at Epcot.. the other 6 days and nights I found LOTS to keep me busy. :)

It's doable.

we're doing a modified version of your idea -

day 1 - arrive eve. crash
day 2 - tour the resorts (as many as we choose), special dinner planned at Narcoosee's
day 3 - AKL resort, maybe go to DTD, special safari dinner at DAK (for that price we'd better get our money's worth!)
day 4 - EPCOT
day 5 - fishing excursion in the morn then AKL resort the rest of the day
day 6 - DAK
day 7 - depart midday

quality - not quantity is important to us.

We are headed to CSR for 4 days after our cruise. We are going to P&PP on May 16th other than that, no parks--too much other stuff to do!

We'll get our parks fix later in the year. We'll be at the Poly Nov. 29-Dec 7.

Have a great trip!

I've spent long weekends at WL before, and not gone to the parks. I think it depends a lot on how frequently you go to WDW. Since I have an AP, there's no pressure to go to the parks or hit every attraction. It's fun to just hang out by the pool, rent boats, or bikes, enjoy all the resort amenities that a lot of people rush by in their hurry to get to the parks.

It would be difficult to be so close to Epcot and not go in, but surely you'll be back ;) ! There are a million things to do at the resorts! So many of them have activities and restaurants and shopping! DtD has so much to see and do and the Boardwalk right at your doorstep! You have an amazing pool at your resort! Hang out, have a Mai-Tai and chill! The Parks will be there next time!
