Disney vs. RCCL

Here you go. It's long, but I am still amazed at how many people argue that there is nothing wrong with this.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=866056

Several are arguing just for the sake of arguing. The thread has gotten really ridiculous. I agree with you bruce, I am shocked at how many thing this is ok. No wonder the morals of this country are the way they are. It makes our job as parents so difficult when other parents condone activities such as this.:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

OMG I had to unsubscribe to that thread yesterday...It was pages and pages long and of course you have the devils advocates saying things just to stir the pot.

Looks like the thread was pulled.... a few folks started in on personal attacks I believe.

Where did the "Hottie" thread on Cruise Critic go?? I tried to refresh my page and got an error message. When I tried to find the thread it was gone! I know threads can be locked but totally erased??

Eh..... teens look for hotties anyway. Most likely, my sons would be way too embarassed to participate. Too cool for that game. ;) But I'm sure they would get a kick out of watching the kids that do ;)

Way back some time ago (years), wasn't there a game on DCL that the teens played that caused the same fury? I remember it, but forgot the name of the game. I'll go through my old navigators but I remember it being like truth or dare, dating game or something like that....any vets remember the game? They don't do it anymore....

Don't know if anyone else posted this.... new video from the website for Oasis.

Yep thread went Poof. :sad2:

Oh well. It must have gotten pretty heated while I was sleeping. No surprise.

Tink, did RCCL respond to you yet? I am still waiting. :rolleyes1

Yes, NCL, Carnival, Princess, Holland America, Cunard (and others) allows smoking in the cabins. On the rest of the ships, they do have smoking/non smoking areas.

On RCCL and Disney, no smoking in cabin but can smoke on balcony.

On Celebrity and Azamara, no smoking in cabin OR on balcony.

The complete smoking/non smoking list is here...

I've cruised on Princess once and HAL twice, and my cabins never smelled like smoke. I smelled more smoke on Explorer of the Seas because it drifts from the casino to the Royal Promenade.

Princess and HAL allow smoking in the staterooms? I always worry about fire. Drinking, laying down with a cigarette and you know :sad2:

Yep, from the way it looks, pretty much any cruise line owned by the Carnival Corporation allows smoking in both the cabins and on balconies.

Well then in their defense I have to say...I was on the Costa Mediterranea and there was NO smoke odor in the room and that ship had a sanitation rating of 100 in 2006 when we went!

Oh I agree 100%, just because they (Carnival Corp) allows smoking in the cabins doesn't mean their cabins are smoky.

I didn't smell any more smoke in the cabins on Carnival (allows smoking) than on Disney (doesn't)

Now outside the cabin on Carnival, however, I could smell smoke in the hallways. Probably just seeping through from under the cabin doors of those who were smoking. But nothing that I would die over or anything. ;)

So they must do a great job at deodorizing.

Princess, RCCL & HAL no longer allow smoking in the cabin and have very small smoking areas. Now the big bugaboo is the casino. We don't gamble so the smoke in the casino doesn't bother us. I am very allergic to cigarette smoke and the only ship I've had a problem on was Disney, they have a good policy but aren't great about enforcing it.

First of all, I didn't say RCCL. I said they don't allow smoking in cabins.

And if I got it wrong about HAL and Princess, then you better contact them and tell them THEY have it wrong too. I got this right from the HAL and Princess web site...

HAL

Smoking
For the comfort of all of our guests, designated smoking and nonsmoking areas are available in most lounges. Smoking is not permitted at any time in dining areas. Our ships do not have "nonsmoking" staterooms; however, all rooms are thoroughly cleaned after each cruise to assure the comfort of our guests. All showrooms are nonsmoking during performances.

Princess

Smoking is not allowed in the dining rooms, or any other food service area, or in the show lounges and theaters. Smoking is permitted in staterooms, stateroom balconies, and designated areas. As a courtesy to your fellow passengers, please refrain from smoking pipes and cigars in all public rooms.

Any response from RCL? Since this disappeared on the other forum, can you update me (or us for anyone else) if they respond about those activities?

Thanks

I e-mailed RCCL about this 3 days ago but have not heard anything from them. So much for getting back with us in 24-48 hours.:sad2:
