Hi Jessie,
As long as you control, your spending and never put more on it than you can pay off, you should be fine. I think having a c/c is great because in case of an emergency where you need money desperately , you will have it.
I unfortunately have one c/c with a LOT of debt on it , however that debt was accrued because of an emergency (long story) and had I not had the c/c , I don't even know where I'd be...I certainly would not be here typing on the Dis.
But even with that debt, I pay off as much as I can each month, have never missed a payment and don't have any other outstanding debt. I really think you will be fine as long as you keep on top of your bills. Sounds like your sister maybe went on a bit of a spending spree and could not control her spending. This is the worst thing about c/cs. People tend to think they have the $ but they really don't.
Sounds like you plan on using the c/c the right way, to pay off bills you have the cash for, but then use the cash to pay off the c/c . This works good in two ways. ONE, you seem like you don't NEED the c/c to pay off the bills...thus you will not have problems paying it off on time and you will be getting the points from Disney for doing so, and TWO, you will be building up good credit which can help you in the long run.
The only thing I would warn you about is that the points you get on most c/c's with these programs are not alot. It takes a long time and sometimes more spending than you'd like for them to build up to anything substantial. But still, you're basically getting them for doing soemthing you'd be doing anyway...paying bills. And, god forbid you ever need a lot of $$ quickly for something, you'll be glad you have it.
Good luck
Sheri
