Disney Visa

Thanks for the information; I went into the link and signed up to be notified when the card will be available. Do you have any information on what the Disney Rewards will be that can be earned?

I just signed up to be notified when the application process is open. I hope the card has some good benefits and that the interest rate is low - also glad there's no annual fee too. Thanks again for the heads up!

Added my name to the list...not really hopefully that there rewards will be competivtive with others that I have...but just in case....Day 1 on the card will be cool...:D :D :D

I really want to see what the benefits will be? Somehow I doubt Disney will be giving us anything worthwhile. Probably 10% off your purchases at the DS:rolleyes: They will assume you will want this card just because it has a picture of Mickey on it.  . How about something like 10% off ALL your purchases while on vacation at WDW (tickets, hotels, restaurants, and DVC add-ons;) )

Frankly I continue to believe that this credit card is a big fat hot poke in the eye of Disney's "loyal customers." It galls me.

After a year or two of talking about rewards programs for "regular customers" what they come up with is a program to generate new revenue for the disney co. All that talk about designing a program that tailors itself to the individual preferences of those loyal customers, and what they do is take away the disney club and replace it with a credit card. No matter that a lot of people don't want another credit card, and some people won't even be able to get it, it will generate revenue for disney every time one of our little sheep loyal customers use it. Instead of rewarding those loyal customers they are using them.

I'm sure someone just said "Oh, slap a day one on it and make it a collectible card" (collectible card? Like the third year of the DC that was exactly the same as the second year?) and our "loyal customers" will lap it up. They'll think we are doing them a big favor.

Their loyal customers ought to tell them were to stick it. It is a bunch of crap if you ask me.

Another nay-sayer here. If they had kept DC and used this in tandem, it would not have been as bad. But unless the perks are great (and I am not holding my breathe) I think it stinks.
I have nothing against Disney deciding they should be the ones to earn the interest on what their guests spend on their items/parks. They should have come up with years ago.
But it's the way they are going about doing this that irritates me. And I still see little to no real concrete information. If it was real good, they would be plastering the details all over everything.

They did. Isn't that what the Disney Credit Card is?? What they want know, is the interest from their "loyal customers" on purchases OTHER then Disney.

Hmmm, 8,000 points for a USH AP, and 18,000 for a USO AP...

A USO AP is 159.95. Do you earn one point for every dollar spent on the Universal Card? (I assume so, but I didn't see that on the website)

If so, its the equivalent of just under a 1% rebate. Most of the other options seem to be in the same ballpark. That's not bad when you consider there is no annual fee. If you pay the balance every month, anything you get in the way of merchandise/tickets is free.

Some have said they hope there are some discounts available with the card. While that would be nice, I'd be surprised if there were much in this area. What is more likely is "bonus point" opportunities for using the card for certain Disney products or with specified partners, or for using the card the first time.

For instance, double points for theme park purchases, or possibly at The Disney Store, or at World of Disney.

No inside info, just my guess based on what other rewards cards do.

I heard about the card too. And I also heard that there will be a special version for DVC Members and that we need to make sure we sign up through the DVC website in order to get the special DVC version of the card. I can't wait!!

Simba, how did you hear about the special DVC version? Do you know any more details about it?

I'm actually looking forward to this. I hope they offer Disney Magazine or at least a good newsletter. That was the best remaining perk for DC after we joined DVC since the 10% discount and room discounts became redundant/useless. I feel for those who won't qualify for (or don't want) another credit card, but that's not a big deal to me personally.

I will most likely get the card since Disney perks are more fun than the Discover CashBack that is 'up to' 1% and the Citibank Driver's Edge which earns rebate toward auto purchase at a similar rate (how often do you buy a car? and when you do, a couple hundred in rebates hardly makes a dent). I have been tempted by the airline miles cards, but they had high annual fees last I checked.

I expect the Disney Visa to offer about 1% back toward Disney purchases on all your credit card purchases. Purchases made at Disney (or promotional partners) will probably yield higher rebates (5% or more?).

I really like the idea of a special card/program for DVC members. That could be cool but I wonder what would be the special considerations?!?!

What are the odds of them giving the captive audience, DVC, anything more than three additional letters on the front of the card?

I can see it now "DAY 1, DVC" or just DVC if you are late signing up. I really hope the exceed my expectations but I am not holding my breath.
