Disney Visa?

I do not have a Disney Visa. Do you think it is worth it to get a DV just to get a 10% discount for all Disney items purchased in Downtown Disney? I do not use CC's on a daily basis, so I would not be building up Disney Dollars. It would only be used for any Disney vacation we would decide to go on.

The 10% is only off of purchases $50 or more. So it depends on how much you think you're going to purchase. And I've learned not 1 store has all the things you are going to want in one place. I could have saved 10% a few times, but I had to buy X at blah blah and Y at la-la.

We use our Disney Visa mainly for our vacations. We love having the 0% for 6 months. It's easier for us to pay over 6 months rather than save up for 6 months and make 1 big payment. Either way we'd still have the card to earn the points.

You have to weigh our your option and lifestlye choices. The current public APR is high at approx 22%. You could always call them and see what type of promo's they have for new card holders.

For me it's not worth it "just for the 10% discount" but I don't buy a lot of merchandise. I like it for the reward points. I've had the Disney Visa for a couple of years and so far, so good.

I like the 10% off as I have kids and nieces and nephews who love Disney so can use that online and in the bricks and mortar. I also like the 20% off most tours (planning on the Holiday Tour at DLR). Finally, my kids are young enough where the exclusive cardholder M&G is worth it as well. There were just various reasons to use it even if I don't use it that often.

I think it's worth it but not for the 10%. We use ours to book the free dining promo before its available to the general public. It's also nice to get the free 5x7 character photo in Epcot. We actually have 2 because after I got mine, a few weeks later we got an offer in the mail for a $200 Disney gift card if we signed up for a card. They just sit in my drawer and we only use them for the promo and photos. The rewards are not as good as Discover card IMO.

I have been waiting for the $200 gift card to be offered. Have not seen it in a while.

I think that one is gone. I just saw the $100 promo for the Premiere Card and $50 for the regular card when I was doing something on the Disney site.

Actually I just got a $200 offer in the mail for a no-fee disney rewards card. That was a no-brainer!

While I was out today, I stopped at a local branch. The customer service rep. said they did not see any other offers on their end other than the $50 or the $100 gift card with the annual fee. She also informed me that they only take credit apps. on line and they could not do one at the actual branch. I am still holding out for $200 or a better offer.

My husband got the offer for the fees one (free first year though). Go figure - I'm the one who shops at the Disney store and makes the vacation reservations! I did get him to sign up for the $200 though. He almost got the Tinkerbell design card because he just wanted to see people's reactions when he uses the card.

Mine too (even though I am the one with the accounts, the reservations in her name, etc)! The $200 offer makes it very tempting with a trip coming up this fall but honestly I don't do a lot of Disney store shopping but for our once every 2-3 year trips so I am not sure how well the rewards would work for us, especially as we have another rewards card that we use as our main cc. In your opinion, are the perks worth the annual fee if you only go to WDW every few years?

We're going to downgrade it to the free card after the 1st free year is up. So no we don't think the annual fee is worth it.

We have the Disney VISA with no annual fee. We don't use it too much, but once we book a Disney trip, then we try to buy as much as possible with the VISA, pay it off each month, and accumulate the rewards. We find this works well for us.

My household just got the $200 gift card offer and they let all 3 of us sign up since it wasn't in a certain persons name just our last name. Also, for each additional person we add on our accounts we get an extra $50. This was for the no fee card. This actually was the second time we received this offer and they had no problem with giving it to us a second time.

Thanks for the input! DH and I have talked about the $200/annual fee card offer with a trip coming up but DH is iffy about taking on another rewards card and then possibly cancelling in a year or 2 if it doesn't meet our needs and what that might do to his/our credit score (we whittled it all down to a main card (for another rewards system) besides my 1 side card and we always pay off the balances monthly). I am not too worried as we have been super solid on it for over a decade but...situations can change in an instant I suppose. :confused3
That said I just know 2012 won't be our last trip!

We received the first year free premier/$200 gift card offer a couple of weeks ago but I had been putting it off because I don't like to take the time to cancel things. Then, a couple of days ago, we got the no fee/$200 GC offer and went ahead and got that one. The GC will pay for a couple of meals and I'll cash in whatever rewards we rack up before our trip. I love free money!
